The fully exposed fuel rods are exposed to air inside the reactor, NOT air outside the reactor, they are still contained with the reactor shielding. The lack of coolant is exposing them. The shielding is still intact.

Ok, I've done some research, I can't start my own thread as I don't have 20 posts...

If you have a Rite Aid (US), go get GNC Mega Men vitamins, OR, even better GNC Prenatal Formula, it is $9.99 for a bottle of 60 caplets, purple label.

The Mega Men has 150mcg of Potassium Iodide, the Prenatals have 290 mcg.

If you are male, get the prenatal formula, without iron. You could cut them in half.

Forget about ordering online, or Kelp, just go get the vitamins, if you are freaked.

I've already told all my friends and family to do this Saturday night in Washington state.

I live in Virginia, and I already have some. If it turns out to be nothing (I do NOT think this is nothing btw)
then you are just taking vitamins for a coupla weeks.

If this should be moved or posted elsewhere, help me out.

Hope this helps a little

GPC grade is also preferable compared to pharma as its 99% proof, thus your reducing the effects of putting 'filler' into your body, which at 95% pharma requires chlorinated water to absorb substantially.

For those in the UK you can order Potassium Iodide from this supplier, ground-based delivery. www.readyreagents.co.uk...

Potassium Iodide 99.% Pure 100gm (PI-100) on ebay.co.uk with 7 hours only left for the remaining stock.

though not directly related to the OP,
I do however find it indirectly related
so will post it here.

Japan's Central Bank props up economy
and Nikei index with 15 Trillion Yen pumped
into the system. Very similar to the Fed's
Quantitive easing.

Japan's central bank doubled its asset buying scheme to 10 trillion yen ($122 billion) and held interest rates at 0-0.1 percent after it earlier said it would pump a record 15 trillion yen into the banking system, though some economists said it could have done more.

Investment bank Credit Suisse put economic losses from the quake at no less than $171 billion

www.reuters.com...

$171Billion was just the estimated losses to the
Japanese Stock Market, not counting any property
damage.

And the NYSE Dow dropped off by 76 points after
opening this morning.

You can also find Potassium Iodide liquid/pills - and without a prescription, in a pharmacy near you.

peace

Word people need to get some of this.
Fill your thyroid up.
Id be sleeping in the pharmacy eating the tablets like candy.

Time for some real science, here. Potassium Iodide (KI) only protects from thyroid cancer, not radiation sickness or lung/brain/bone/blood cancers. And that is only IF the reactor released a certain isotope of iodine called radioiodine, or I131. You can certainly overdose on KI. It is used as a medical treatment for some forms of hyperthyroid conditions, and acts by blocking thyroid uptake function and sometimes killing thyroid cells. So, I wouldn't recommend eating it "like candy." Once I 131 contamination has been reliably found by actual radioanalysis, take 130 mg (for an adult) each 24 hours of actual confirmed exposure. And use the saturated solution KI (SSKI).

Are you implying a conspiracy? that the quake was man made to benefit the Japanese economy? I know this might not be the right thread but can you please elaborate? I am intersted

I have spent alot of time over in Japan. From Kashiwa to Noda to the mountain of Yonazawa. To the japanese people I feel so sorry for this trajic event. The loss of life is going to be way above what is being reported. These people had very little warning if no warning at all. I would suspect the loss of life about a high couple houndred thousand at a minimum if not higher.

God please provide these people with comfort and warmth in their time of suffering. God help them all.

If any of you have been to Japan you know that alot of people outside the cities don't even have tv's or anything like that the are farmers who live in very small homes how take care of the land. most of them did not even see it coming. By the time the sirens went off and people tried to figure out what was going on it was too late most of them were run over by a wall of water and debris.

Sudo-san, Ishizuka-san Hirashima-san Kenji-san Naki-san and all the others that I miss I pray for you and your families that they are safe from harm.

God bless you all.

I am not implying anything
however be it known that the US Dollar
has rebounded against the Japanese Yen
this morning by a large margin.

www.reuters.com...

coincidence or not ???
you be the judge.

remember Japan was threatened
with an earthquake earlier if I'm not
mistaken. Then after an earthquake,
the US Dollar rebounds in international
markets. You do the math.

The story reminds me of the day before 9/11 and the BP spill. A few greedy benefits that lined up a little too straight with disaster
. I believe HAARP has the technology to bend nature at will and you prove a good point Saint but idk...with Elnin and the "supermoon" approaching it might just be the end of a "cycle"
All we can do is wait it out

Just heard on Charlotte, North Carolina America's Talk 1660, a warning not to touch or go near things like water, pills and food that could be contaminated with radiation, supposedly from Fukushima. They did not mention the warning for people in Japan. What gets me is the fact this station is on the US east coast, approximately 15,500 km (9,600 miles) from Fukushima. Why would they broadcast a warning about radiation on a station so far away...

Best guess is the prevailing winds flow from Japan across N America, and if they have radiation, and it rains...well you can figure from there, right?

Plan ahead...draw and store water NOW.

THE TIME TO PREPARE IS BEFORE DISASTER STRIKES.

Stilled water stagnates however, so i'd reccommend investing in water purification tablets or rounding up a local map of where the natural spring water locations are. The Irish water fiasco earlier this winter showed just what a weeks stagnation of water can do in terms of public health.
Natural Spring water will filter out the impurities through limestone and volcanic rock leaving only minute (still background traces however) of radiation.

What is your source...that you can "filter" water of radiation?

Never heard of this!

that's weird, I just tuned in
for the past 10 mins and heard nothing like that.
Glen Beck is on from 9am to 12pm and he was
talking about something else. You sure you
posted the right station ???

Yup. It was not on his show. It is during commercial breaks. So far only heard it once. Unless there is some other kind of contamination going on in Charlotte that I am not aware of....

Once water is contaminated with Radiation you can't filter it.

But those who are wanting to store it, either using bathtubs or the bottle approach, must realise over time water stagnates and created bacteria. Water needs a constant source of flow to stop this happening which is why storing water is good short-term, but long term your looking at wanting to find natural springs to provide round the clock replenishments. To combat possible contaminants in other sources of water (rivers, lakes etc) you'll need water purification tablets, but again as this water would have already been contaminated by the radiation it's up to you to chose which is the better filter. Natural peat/moss, limestone and granite rocks which the rainwater has to seep through, or a quick chemical-fix.
