I have about 9 counts per minute at home, so it's slightly above baseline but nothing I'd be worried about. I have measured a house in cornwall where the count was around 300 cpm due to Radon gas. Hope that gives you some idea of scale.

Isn't 12 baseline/normal?

I don't know, just saw that on a Destination Truth show about Chernobyl

Hi Hi Elf,

I'll have to go back through the posts to find the link - but - Japan asked the IAEA for help three days ago - only 'moments' (realatively) from their first hint of trouble.

I'm not trying to debate you or bash your info but BBC got it wrong and so did many other Western MSM.

Just trying to keep the facts straight.

Let me go back through the posts for the links...

peace

Well it would have been very forthcoming wouldnt it?

Why would they watch and not do anything if asked already?

On the IAEA site to it's just been confirmed, according to the IAEA @ 15.52 gmt today the released their statement that today they had been asked and accepted the request for help from the Japanese government.

1 2

As I see it the pumping in of seawater is a last ditch attempt to stop a meltdown. It has failed twice today already in this core, they have no way to cool it down, unless that happens ASAP, and they have been unable to do this themselves, and asking both the US and IAEA for immediate help for this after the last event failed, and within minutes of each other at early hours of the morning there..... leads me to one conclusion it is melting down like an egg boiling unless soemone gets the gas turned off the egg shell will crack!

Kind Regards,

Elf

The count has been dropping for sure, but who's to say where that meter is at, if it is in Tokyo then it seems to be good news for them.

It was as high as 14, now at 6

Hi again,
Sorry, I keep loosing my internet connection - anyway, what I'm hearing (and heard two days ago) from this LIVE update broadcast from Japan HERE is Japan did ask for help. What I'm seeing now is Japan just made if 'Official' - so MSM is mincing words I guess (?).

How helpful is that for us! NOT!

Thank you

peace

I think its fairer to say that the sea water injection plan was only ever going to be of a certain degree of use in this situation, rather than to say that it has failed in of itself. Coolant system failiures are hard enough to cope with when the entire focus of a nation is upon the solution to the problem, but right now Japan is staggering under the weight of continued assault by quake and tsunami waves, and that they have the capacity to attempt to deal with the nuclear issue AT ALL is impressive. This sea water injection plan would never have come about if the coolant system failiure had not coincided with the rest of the devastation.

I believe this is going LIVE now...

White House Live

Briefing by Press Secretary Jay Carney

EDIT TO ADD: My computer is not keeping up to this stream, I would SO APPRECIATE IT if someone could tell me what it contains. I was told by YokosoNews it was an update from the White House on Japan - I hope it's correct.

EDIT AGAIN: And yes, they're speaking now of the world wide economic crisis in view of the disaster.

Leave it up to the White House to go right to the money. GAG.

Silo,

I think they are just answering what the media is asking, but your 100% right on, the first things the media reps were concerned with was economic status.

Sad and shallow.

Maybe because that is the long term impact on the suvivors and the fact that in most cases we are the ones that financially help the most.

From BBC

The French ASN nuclear safety authority says the incident at the Fukushima plant could be classed as level 5 or 6 on the international scale of 1 to 7. It is currently rated at level 4.

I think it needs to be moved to a 5 personally. I don't think it warrants a 6 just yet though.
