I usually don't create any thread but I need to write this rant.

Anyone here get this strange result that: the more you read about UFO, here at ATS, you get more and more skeptic about the whole affair?

The amount of bad/ half baked videos, reports, photos that we get everyday here make its hard to get a good and interesting stuff. It's like when I believed in religion... the more and more I did read holy books more and more I got the feeling it was BS. That's sad because the chance the holy books are correct is much much much smaller than the chances we have ET UFO visiting our planet.

But when I read articles, forum threads about channeling (BS), astral projection (BS), reptilians and other nonsense texts I get the strange urge to call all UFO field as nonsense.

The only thing the ATS forum made to me is to become more skeptic at every new thread

Am I alone in this way?

I always think of UFO's like Ghosts the same. People who WANT to see them, see them. People who DON'T want to see them, never see them.

And sorry to totally destroy everyones dreams, but check this website out:

I know it crushed mine, lol

ATS has made me more of a skeptic than anything else in the world.

I used to 100% believe in UFOs...now I have serious doubts.

I agree totally..

I believe that ATS should have a bird and balloon filter. Any UFO video has to go through the bird and balloon filter to make it on a thread....lol

Sorry to derail the post, but I was just wondering if you have ever seen the video with the round sphere's creating the crop circles? I don't doubt that some are man made, but the 3D addition to the newer crop formations as of late seems like it would take alot of work. Do people actually have so much spare time that they feel the need to do this? Wish I had that much free time.

ON TOPIC.

OP, I agree with you that there is alot of BS around, but I would never discredit the existence of ET visitors to this planet (and no, I have personally never seen a UFO that I couldn't explain away by conventional terms) Hell, maybe its just because I want to believe that I do....

The subject of "Ufology" was very flimsy from the start and now that the weirdos have taken it over it has no chance.

Now we have nonsense about abductions, reptilians, statues on Mars and G-d knows what else!

I have knowledge of the US working on electrogravitics in the 1950's. It was moved into black ops at the end of that decade. From this knowledge, I can extrapolate what has been developed in the last 50 years. I am of the opinion that most of the objects we see are man-made - if not all of them.

I do, however, believe there IS ET action on this planet. But I think they're likely more subtle. (The Sumerian tablets...especially the recently found Enki tablets...make it clear that ET tampered with us, I think they're still around.)

I think there's a lot of BS. I think there's a lot of hoaxers. I think there are a lot of stupid and/or gullible people.

But I also think that there's just too much evidence, in the form of a few videos/pictures and hordes of rational eyewitness reports, to say that "It's ALL horse-puckey!". I think it much more unreasonable to discredit every witness by thinking them liars, mad, or fooled than to accept that "Something odd is going on in the sky." Thinking in terms of "all" is never a good idea and one to which both ufology enthusiasts AND skeptics are particularly prone. For every ambiguous video, there is someone saying "It's the BEST UFO VIDOE EVAR!!!!11!!" and someone else saying "PSSSH! It's a chinese lantern, duh!". You almost never see someone say "It is consistent with what you'd expect from either, but it's not apparent which it is."

My advice?
Don't believe in aliens. Don't believe that it's all fake. Simply: don't _believe_. THINK instead. Weigh probabilities. "How credible is this witness? What kinds of motives do they have to lie? What kinds of energy and resources would need to be expended to fake such a thing? What percentage would I assign to the possibility that it is true or false or misunderstood?"

This gets especially tricky with video evidence in this day and age. We've all seen the folks who say "It's on Youtube therefore it's a fake." or "It's too good. It must be CGI." or "It's too shakey. It's gotta be a reflection." The fact is, anything can be faked but that is NOT the same as saying "Everything IS faked." All it means is that a pitch-perfect video is not proof. But it IS evidence. And a glitch or weirdness in the video does not mean it's a fake, just that it's not perfect -- given the way many UFO's are reported to move and play around with space and time, if they ARE real, then seemingly 'unnatural' behaviors, that may scream 'fake', are, in fact, to be expected.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, don't worry about 'Proof', worry about 'Evidence'.

My advice to you is to do your own research regarding ufology and only take what is posted here at ATS as a "grain of salt", in fact you should do this for all post here on ATS. To subject your conclusion as a result to what is posted here on ATS is just silly.

I've had an interest in the subject for over 40 years now, and I wouldn't say that I've become more of a skeptic, but I've certainly gotten tired of people with their simplistic interpretations and lack of critical thinking skills. What has also happened is that I've changed my point of view. I'm pretty sure UFOs exist. Weird things happen in this reality. But the explanation that I gravitate toward now is more "paranormal," and therefore less easy to prove. The lack of hard proof is one of the clues that has lead me away from the notion of aliens from other planets to something more complex involving consciousness and reality.

I don't know if that's good or bad.

Yes...

The amount of bad/ half baked videos, reports, photos that we get everyday here make its hard to get a good and interesting stuff. Its my belief that Ufolgoy has become almost a 'sudo-religion' there are many people out there that believe without proof and their wish to believe outweighs their rational brain.

But when I read articles, forum threads about channeling (BS), astral projection (BS), reptilians and other nonsense texts I get the strange urge to call all UFO field as nonsense.

The internet is a place where many minds can meet.... Many minds are not totally sane....

I'm with you in that most of what I have seen/read here is total twaddle but there does remain very occasionally the odd post (almost always those that contain a video/pic with multiple witness accounts). Too many people see something that THEY dont understand in the sky and then their desire for it to be the PROOF and a TRUE SIGHTING overwhelms their desire to see the truth and people simple dont like to be wrong..... Some people will argue black is white in desperation to be right.

The abundance of nonsense doesnt mean that you'll never see evidence that persuades you here, it just means that you have to be patient and wade through the mire of crud to get there

nope...you are becoming a crictical- thinking believer.... just because 95% is a bunch of BS, doesn't mean the other 5% is.

I think the people are living out their fantasies about astral projection, reptilians and other stuff and they really do pollute the forums with no facts. Apparently these subjects transcend space time itself and do not obey the laws of fact lol. I wonder why
