Two sides to every coin (tounge-in-cheek)..

The advantages...

* You will always have something to do with your hands.
* To avoid headaches later in the day, always have a cigarette first thing in the morning.
* If you work with explosives, you have a handy method of lighting the fuse.
* Smoking is a good career move if you want early retirement and would like to use up your sick leave.
* On New Years Eve you don't have to go out to the fireworks. Just dip your cigarette into a jar of ground up sparklers.
* Amuse your friends and be the life of the party by blowing smoke rings.
* Always discard your butts in flower pots and garden beds as it helps fertilise the plants and keeps insects away.
* Occasional house fires will help keep firemen employed.
* By buying cigarettes from corner stores, you help support local businesses and help retain the fabric of our society.
* At the beach, children can use the butts to decorate their sand castles.
* Annoy neighbours you don't like by staying home and smoking heavily.
* You will always have a good reason for loitering - "Officer, I'm just having a cigarette".
* Always smoke when you are pregnant. Your smoking helps the unborn baby prepare for the air pollution in the real world.
* When your neighbour's kids are too noisy, trigger their asthma by breathing smoke on them.
* By smoking heavily, you get out of boring work and will have plenty of short breaks during the day.
* Develop your cool image and fun-loving personality by being a smoker. Non-smoking is for wimps and wusses.
* You will have a good reason to paint the ceilings every three years.
* Why celebrate world no-tobacco day once a year, when every day can be celebrated as a pro-tobacco day.
* You will know when it's time to throw out your old lounge suite by the number of burn marks.
* Smoking is an adult custom. Add years to how old you look by smoking heavily.
* If you run out of smokes late at night, help the taxi industry by getting them to deliver your smokes to the door.
* You can demand more services and benefits from the government because you have paid more in taxes.
* Help keep the bush fire brigades trained and ready for any emergency by throwing lighted butts from your car window.
* Keep your weight down by smoking cigarettes instead of eating them.

nsma.org.au...

Peace

Thanks, I think I'm gonna start smoking again...

Just wanted to add that I smoked for 15 years, tried giving up many times. In the end the only thing that really worked was ''Champix'' which is a tablet that actually stops you craving, you take the tabs and carry on smoking for about a week then you just stop, no cravings at all. It (champix) got some bad press about suicides but it was all bullcrap and it was used as a scapegoat.

Anyhow, just saying that this worked for me and was totally painless, although the mental craving still pick at me now and again, just for a few seconds. Do I feel different to when I smoked? Honestly? Not really, saves a #load of money though.

Stick to natural spirits. They don't add in the chemical additives found in practically every other commercial cigarette company. It's a bit more expensive, but you get about 50% more tobacco per cigarette. I smoke socially sometimes when I drink, so purchase about a pack a month. I will smoke a half of a cig in the time it takes most other people to smoke a full regular one. So I put it out and effectively get two packs for the price of one.

Must agree... American Spirits are amazing. Been smoking them for 2 years now and since then...
(FYI its still smoking, and its deadly... tar and carbon monoxide still enter your lungs. This post is really about quitting the added chemicals in today's cigarettes.)

No more yellow fingers! From holding cigarettes
No smell!! Even on my cigarette holding fingers, others don't even know I smoke.
No shortness of breath from running upstairs after smoking for example.
No wheezing when I wake up.
I have not been sick since I started smoking the chem free cigarettes.
Less cravings for a cigarette! I went from a pack a day for the last 10 years, down to 5-10 a day.
On average, I smoke half a cigarette or less and throw it out. I used to smoke Marlboro's down to the line on the filter, and still wanted more..

One other interesting thing I noticed when I switch from Marlboro to American Spirits...
I had major cravings for chem packed cigarettes, even just after smoking an American Spirit. It was amazing how addicted I was to the other chemicals!
My mother had the same issue, it took her 6 months to fully change to Natural Spirits. She would have headaches and cravings without smoking a Marlboro cigarette, and she would smoke 5-10 a day in between the American Spirits. Now she and my Aunt both rave about all the changes I mentioned above. My mother now smokes 10 cigarettes a day. She has been a 2 pack a day smoker, for the last 30 years. My Aunt smokes about 5 a day, down from 1.5 packs a day for the last 20 years.

If you ever want to successfully quit or at least cut down a lot within a month, first you must stop the addiction to the chemicals in major brand cigarettes. Nicotine patchs and gums DO NOT have all the added chemicals you are really addicted too. This is the real reason why so many people fail to quit smoking, and all the support groups, and stop smoking products rake in the cash!

Interested? Need more info? Just Google "quit smoking American Spirits" and you will see many others reporting the same info.

Well, I can see that all the most brilliant minds of ATS agree.

Smoking is bad!!!!!!! Its bad I tell you!!!! It causes lung cancer, it causes heart problems, itcauses oral-pharangeal cancer. Its just bad bad bad.

Smoking has no benefits and must be eradicated.

But but but - in the 80 years of anti-smoking, smoking is bad bad bad, smoking in the general population has been reduced by more than half.....and this is the kicker......the incidence of any disease has NOT decreased....and in some cases....has actually increased (see oral - pharangeal cancer)...

So can all the brilliant minds of ATS explain how this happened. If smoking CAISES lung cancer, shouldn't the incidence of lung cancer be decreasing by now??
