i dont see how cropcircles have anything to do with scientific analysis of the magnetosphere. sorry.

Nothing amiss here. What a laugh.

Your compass will always point to north, but the location of the north might change.

I was laughing because I was picturing hundreds of ATSers, taking out their compass and seeing the compass was INDEED pointing North and saying "yup, nothing strange here"

The trick is: Find true North FIRST. Then see if it matches (eye roll)

Are the north and south poles mixing?

Is this what you are referring to?

Maybe the Crop Circle makers put a jinx on your camera for foo-fooing their work in which I was trying to showcase!

(just kidding......or am I?)

As far as i know they actually shifted.

The magnetic pole always shifts. It's been doing it forever. It's not a secret, and is not related to a full pole reversal. Look at some scientific data. It's out there.

This is like someone freaking out because they just realized the sun is hot.

Im not freaking out. and ATS doesnt seems to be exactly a place for science...the guy above me got stars than i did for comparing my scientific info to a freakkin crop circle...maybe this isnt the place for me...

I want to clarify something if I may.
Just because you or I don't see any connection, doesn't mean there isn't.

I just find the 'shapes' eerily similar.
Accept, dismiss or ponder. There's no right answer.

ok...back to the useful info...

NOAA(Space Weather Prediction Center) didint reported any activity today! even tought the magnetosphere levels are off the charts!

Man, I can only imagine what kind of denial has been displayed in this thread so far, and will continue to be displayed.

So many people have been "skeptical" (ie automatically and totally dismissing) of a pole shift for years that I think I'm going to have a hearty laugh session when we start to feel its effects hard.

And then of course they'll all be coming out of the woodwork saying, "Well we didn't have any evidence this was actually going to happen" or "I secretly knew it all along" or anything other than "Damn, I was wrong!"

Actually, the eye roll should be reserved for your statement -- unless you are in a specific location, magnetic North will NEVER point to true (geographic) North. That's what magnetic declination is for -- figuring out what the difference between the two is at your location.

I can picture hundreds of nitwits, pulling out their compasses, seeing that magnetic North isn't exactly true North, and coming here to post their very own Chicken Little tales.

Scientists believe Earth's magnetic field is generated deep inside our planet. There, the heat of the Earth's solid inner core churns a liquid outer core composed of iron and nickel. The churning acts like convection, which generates electric currents and, as a result, a magnetic field.

This magnetic field shields most of the habited parts of our planet from charged particles that emanate from space, mainly from the sun. The field deflects the speeding particles toward Earth's Poles.

Our planet's magnetic field reverses about once every 200,000 years on average. However, the time between reversals is highly variable. The last time Earth's magnetic field flipped was 780,000 years ago, according to the geologic record of Earth's polarity.
by John Roach for National Geographic News, September 27, 2004
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above process is referred to as Magnetic Pole Reversal. It is a gradual process spanning 100s of thousands of years; it does not occur overnight and cannot be predicted to take place on a certain date. The magnetic fluctuations have been followed by scientists since the mid-1960s. The fluctuating poles have caused some problems for migratory animals due to the constant shifting. This is not a conspiracy as it is a natural planetary cycle of Earth.

The comment was for those freaking out, not you haha. I've seen several threads in the last weak regarding the discovery that the pole was moving and therefor thinking the end is nigh because of it. There is too much real stuff to get jumpy about to be worried about something like this. I am in this instance injecting a small measure of reason to the discussion.

ATS is a mix of science and pseudoscience, social issues, opinions, rants, lesser known news (probably the most useful part), and the fun of discussion.

The guy above you, me.....the original poster of this thread .....doesn't have a need to be so anal.
You want pure science? Go seek Bill Nye the science Guy forum.

Try stepping outside your comfort zone a bit because things are about to get a little strange here on Earth.

By the way: Crop Circles have their own scientists (with ties and lab coats too) interested in them so again, expand your conditioned mind. It'll feel good! I promise
