Thank you very much for posting those links. I sometimes have trouble just keeping up with what's going on and I'm glad to have them as extra resources.

Best regards,

Mike

You are very welcome.
Here is the latest I could find
"Update 11/10 – 17:17 UTC : People in La Restinga have been evacuated to Valverde with buses and private vehicles. They are asked to stay with family if possible or can spend the night in a student home or in tents in Valverde. La Restinga people who were not at home when the Red Alert was called were denied to enter their homes. This happened also to people living in the higher parts of La Restinga! Police threatened people protesting against the fact they could not get belongings from their houses with high fines. Only the press is admitted to La Restinga!"
As reported on earthquake report

It's always a sad situation when people learn that they cannot return to their homes, but in this case I have to side with the police and other authorities. Far better to deny people entry to a high-risk area than perhaps have them lose their lives...

Some years ago I lost my home in a fire. It was difficult to get by for a while, but at the end of the day, all our possessions are only things; even those that cannot be replaced don't really matter all that much when we place them in a scale that is balanced against Life. No matter what happens with El Hierro, if no lives are lost and no-one is badly hurt, then all else can ultimately be put right again. Yes, people will suffer if they lose their homes but I know that they will be able to recover.

By the way, I have sent you a U2U, so please check your messages.

Mike

Did you notice also in that link, right hand side under latest news....? First on the list, an article on ongoing problems in the Gulf. Quite a bit of info there!

Dalke I did not write and say you can't say anything of the sort. I just pointed out that the California seismo was not showing magma on the move as you suggested, and showed reasons why I said that.

It was supposed to be a learning thing not a rebuke. I was NOT saying you 'cannot say that', as in 'you are not permitted to say that'

I said "but you cannot make the assumption that this is magma"

I realise that English is not your native tongue. In the context cannot does not mean you are not permitted, it means it is not possible. Only the mods can tell anyone that they are not permitted to say something.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I'm sure I could do better if I was getting paid for doing it, I try my best during the rainy days I get off work

link should read Volcano Watch 2011 not Quake Watch

The actual link goes to the right place though

Oh OK then
I still can't see where he said the Mag 4.4 moved into another chamber, but never mind
"Blog post updated at 21:49 UTC on 10 October 2011."

I was 12 hours ahead of him anyway, based on converting NZDT to UTC

Seventeen quakes in Arkansas this week. No, that's not right. There was just another one and it should be listed soon. 18 quakes.

This is not the end of the swarm from the end of the injections wells. It's not just the last remnants as things settle. This is a new swarm. The Quitman swarm. I assure you there will be a 4+ very soon.

The eastern quakes are clustered again. And what's center stage.
Arkansas.

Aloha

Would someone fluent in reading helicorders/seismos mind taking a look at the northern California stations for me? They all seem to have an increased signal in the last 10+/- hours. I don't think it is wind--just checked NOAA--winds are calm. Nor is it people; it started in the late evening, and there aren't many people around this area anyway (I lived in Del Norte/Humboldt/Trinity are for 12 years).
Check out Cape Town, Horse Mtn, Hayfork Bally, etc... the stations beginning with "K" in the "NC" network HERE They are located about 1/3 of the way down the page.

I just want to learn what I'm looking at. Thanks in advance.

I don't like commenting unless it's a particular network I'm watching. But, it looks like microseismic noise. Most probably from the hurricanes down in Mexico. Then again, some of them may be wind. At Yellowstone, some stations may not have wind, but others do. That's because it's mountainous and there are plains. You have updraft and wind corridors. So, even if there's only a slight breeze recorded by a weather station, there may be an area where there is gusts.

I was hoping Puterman or someone else would answer you first with a more technical explanation Regardless, I'm sure there not earthquakes or magma moving.

Kdog, overall, worldwide quakes haven't picked up in a major fashion. Yes, there's the volcano providing excitement. But we've haven't had a big series lately. I'm freaking about Arkansas because that's not natural. And the activity is hinting at bigger to come. The damn fault is bigger than Ausbrook claims. Which means the maximum for a full rupture is now above 6M. People felt that Virginia quake all over. Imagine one even bigger. And a large quake that is adjacent to the New Madrid. And in a location where the 1811 earthquakes started.

I was going to say maybe things have stopped in Arkansas. It was quiet when I checked this morning after I woke up. But, just before I was going to say, maybe things have quieted, I looked, and there's another small one. Maybe only a 1M. But a quake nonetheless. They still haven't - scratch that- I was going to say they haven't posted last nights quake, but they did, about two seconds ago.

Check out RSOE right now and have a look at the green line joining the neverending 'storms' on either side of the Pacific Ocean.

Last time I saw these annomolies Japan was hit by the mag 7 aftershock.

I shouldn't really laugh, but my friend and I have been saying this about EQ's for a while now...."If you don't do as you're told we will 'shake' you into submission"! Whenever a small flux of EQ's happen somewhere not usually expected, my first thought seems to always be...."well, who have they (insert country) upset now?" Recently happened with Slovakia.....maybe TPTB didn't quite shake them hard enough!
