Well OK I got a little bit behind. But then again I don't suppose anyone noticed!

PDF Package for Mag 6.1 in Alaska now available. (1.5 Mb download)

Due to dwindling image storage space on the blog the PDF file (Web Page) will only have the basic shake map. The Other shake maps will be included in the web site images package however as this area is not having space constraints (yet!)

Are you still here? I didn't scare you off did I?

16.07.2011 15:40:37 3.4 Pacific Ocean New Zealand Woodville County Lincoln

Well I can't find that one on the Geonet Database, despite Geonet being quoted as the source.

They have this one near Lincoln;

REF:3547184
LAT/LONG: -43.64134, 172.4761
UTC: 2011/7/16 12:46:55
NZST: 2011/7/17 0:46:55
DEPTH: 10km
MAG: 3.396ML
LOCATION: 63 Gerald St, Lincoln 7608
Reported as Felt: Yes

Check yourself heres the List for the 16th UTC

In conclusion, RSOE is OK to get an overall view of what may be happening around the World, but not too accurate with the actual information.
I just had a look and seen the Ma-on Typhoon nearing Japan, that I might not have known about otherwise as no one here on ATS picked it up and posted the info on the Northeren Hurricane Watch 2011, but as I do with earthquakes I always check the source before posting. ie in that case the JTWC

About a week or so ago, I mentioned how there were five quakes in the Northeast US. And there were very few near New Madrid, and Central Arkansas.
Well, now the situation has reversed itself. There's a bunch in Arkansas, with a few near NMSZ. And two in Texas. Just waiting on one in Oklahoma now. Only one left on map in Northeast.

From what I've observed for some time now, is that the quakes in these areas are clustered.
Also, the activity came after rain fell in Central Arkansas. After the spring storms and floods, the rain stopped suddenly and very soon afterward, it was nearly a drought situation along with extreme temperatures.

Maybe it's just 'cause I spent alot of time as a farm boy, but I've noticed soils destabalized when you change the moisture of the soil drastically over a short period of time.

Change=change.

Ah, it's probably all in my head. Along with a whole lot of other stuff. It's all the bad sci-fi flicks I watch.
Do you want to see the best all time bad sci-fi movie?

I would love to ask the earthquake experts on this thread whether there is a chance of a M5.0+ quake in the general area of Moscow city, Russia. Is there a slight chance that the Vranch zone activates and sends some nice P, Z and other earthwaves our way I wonder? Let's say a percentage in the next five years. And what effects would that cause on a city that is overgrown and literary sinking into the dug out ground below it. That quake zone tends to send off sudden and deep quakes felt in a wide area.

When I saw these back to back ones hit in Alaska, I thought for sure at least one would go away. But no, the USGS has them both listed. 10 minutes apart and practically on top of each other.

I swear, it's harder than ever to search on google. In the past, I actually could find what I was looking for. That Wyoming quake, on google maps, shows, I think, mining near by. Or, it's some unique geological feature. I don't know. I got ticked off searching and don't have the patience to chase anything down. I'm sure if you, or someone else looks, they'll figure it out. I bet it was man-made.

RumET, indeed, Moscow is having some issues underground. But it would appear the watertable is high, and there isn't the groundwater extraction seen in other major centers. If Mexico City hasn't fallen into a giant sinkhole, then I think Moscow is okay. I think a big Moscow quake is a longshot.

Why thank you, that video placed some loose ends about Moscow groundwater and construction in a better fashion inside my head. Luckily I don't live in Japan, or Yellowstone, so I have never experienced earthquakes (except from the time where I slept through three and was very angry in the morning
) One part of me yearns for a good shakedown, the other dreads the consequences, being near a chemical factory and all. Anyways, thank you very much once more for you kind reply.

Robin -

1) Give rock lots of Heat/Fire
2) Add Cold water/fluids
=
Fracture/=adjustment of the earth

Try a piece of glass for a magnified presentation = all the same IMHO

Lots going on - why Etna this evening? what's cracking and moving? What larger quake is next? Then we have Iceland (which was expected, but) Puterman, I agree with your thinking - but, I don't on the next big one being later. There is just to much going on in NZ with strange vibrations going on at the moment IMHO. The Virgin Islands are doing a strange dance also .- IDK - Maybe all because they uncovered something in Giza

I would not be suprised at all it the next major quake hits Giza and all or most of all "area's of study" are "wiped out by said quake" ummm humm - someone wanna take a bet on this?

Well I see you folks are using a lot of fancy graphs and Google maps to analyze the quake data. I've also spotted a few professional databases mentioned. Well I'd like to introduce SeisGram 2K, not only does it make you coffee
but it is also a highly handy and scientific tool to acquire and analyze any earthquake in many input formats. I had a small test run and I didn't understand most of it's functions. But it seems to be freeware. Perhaps it can help the more quaketech savvy amongst us to analyze and interpret earthquake data more accurately. Thank you for your attention, enjoy your coffee and earthquake analysis alomax.free.fr...

I am wondering if some one can explain what is going on. I am looking at the Seismic Server, and almost every damn state listed on there is showing activity. Quite a bit compared to the past when I have seen it. My biggest question is, with the activity showing, why is there nothing listed on the USGS registering as a quake?
Unless I am completely off on what I am seeing.

Thanks in advance

Here is the link, hopefully someone can see what I am seeing before it changes.

My guess is the stations are picking up a quake from somewhere. One plot looks like a child's scribbling while the rest show some form of vibration. If they are comparable or not I would not know, I haven't taken the time to look at each and compare the arrival times and such. But they are definitely active.
