KU, you are only as good as your best intelligence (information). IMHO, you are very misinformed by your state(?) news media. It is a known fact that our liberal media loudly keeps chinking away at an American citizen's right to keep and bear arms. Yes, we have troubled youth invading schools, Yes we have gangs that seemingly have no regard for life. Yes, we have political organizations that would take away rocks from the general populace if they could get away with it. But, let's put the situation in another light.

Restricting or taking weapons away from law abiding citizens (LACs) will make only a few groups happy. I've always been told "follow the money" so who would profit? Politicians who do not suscribe to the US Constitution and want socialism or communism. Lawyers would absolutely love it - imagine no LACs having a defensive weapon? The lawyers would be inundated with the cases of punks eventually captured by our much overtaxed law enforcement. A lot of lawyers would get very rich until they realize that all of the real taxpayers are getting killed off and we know gang members and crooks pay their taxes. The liberal main stream media would love it, reporting it every day - "if it bleeds, it leads!". That is, until they realize there are no LACs watching the TV or reading the newspaper. The gangs would love it! No more worries about getting shot while robbing the corner liquor store. That is unless a law enforcement officer happens to catch them in the act. He/she would probably be greatly out gunned and end up dead.
There are also factions within our own government (sorry, no links) who set up mass shootings for political reasons. Ever wondered why there seems to be a terrible shooting at the same time critical legislation is being debated or voted upon in the US congress? There you go. I could go on and on, but there are factions within our government and committes outside that are battling us goy for this nation. They are ready to strip and rape it of everything. The US constitution is basically all we have that keeps all LACs from being bona fide slaves.
KU, if you ever want to come here and experience the reality of America and see that as of this moment, the LACs are holding their own and hopefully we will start pushing back and take back our Senate, House and Presidency (non-violently, of course), I would gladly support you.

Guns in the hands of free law abiding American citizens is supposed to ensure the people recourse against a tyrannical Government. Secondly they are meant to protect from invasion of home, protection of self and family and to prevent theft of goods.

It is my God given right and also a right granted to me as an American citizen to own a gun. Period.

I do believe that we have the right to own our guns to protect ourselves against an oppressive government, but I have always pondered how we, the people, would ever stand a chance against our government when they have some of the most destructive weapons in the world. I mean, this isn't the 1800's when all the weapons we had were rifles, I don't think we stand a chance.

This is why, while I think we should still have arms, it's not for a revolt against the government anymore. Government has gotten way to big for us to handle in physical manner, we must revolt and cause havoc from within government. Not paying taxes, not using vital services that government depends on us for its funding. Times have changed, and I think the founding fathers would have expected us have risen up long before this, but it's too late.

The contact Ive had is with normal every day people who dont want to be victimized by criminals. Not camo-ed up lunatics with their faces on TV. Just average people who are being held hostage by a govt that refuses to secure borders and local govts who are soft on crime. WHen I deal with people who have been victimized by a person who has a record of 3 pages mostly felonies and violent crime.. who is out free due to dropped charges and plea bargains.. yeah, Im okay with people being armed. They dont seem too gun-nutty to me in the real world.

Since that law has been in effect, crime has dropped. I wonder why....

Here is testimony from someone who's parents were killed by a gun man. Is she angry at the guns? No. Is she angry at the gunman? No. She's angry about the gun laws. If she was able to carry a gun, it may have made a difference.

The OP is apparently not a student of history. And based on subsequent comments made by him, he has tyrannical tendencies as well. Finally, kevinunknown, if you have a problem with the firearms that I own, you are welcome to come and attempt to take them from me!

I appreciate the legality of Americans owning guns, I even agree with it, but this has nothing whatsoever to do with god. IMO. It is all about Men, and Man's misguided attempt at ensuring freedom.

Unless we were attacked by our own through nuclear or biological means, there would be no real civil war beacuse the majority of those in service would not attack a fellow American.

It's a god given (naturally imbued by life, for atheists) right to defend ones self/life from harm. The gun, being an equalizer is the best way to do that.

Exactly why I have repeatedly stated that comparing the UK and US on this subject is ridiculous.

I understand why Americans want to keep 'the right to bear arms', and I don't really blame them.

But it's not right for the UK and we don't want it and I'm sick to death of listening to Yanks tell me that we, the UK, wouldn't be in the mess we are if we had 'the right to bear arms'.

Very narrow view of life and no real experience of life outside of their bubbles. I guess its easy to understand why.. even it its annoying Im old, Ive been all over the world, Ive been in all different kinds of societies and cultures.. and Im still learning. I know I still have a lot to learn and its humbling. The wide difference in lifestyle here in America... its a different culture in many areas and regions. One belief can not be applied to the whole lot of us Americans.
