In your OP you speak of a revolution, a revolt of mass proportions involving as many as can possibly be assembled in the form of a march on Washington! This I can get behind in a big way! However, I am in the 30-35 yr old age range lol, so am I still invited?

I can really support your efforts and goals, seeing as my generation to this end has done NOTHING of real importance (despite all our talking about it some 15-20 years ago) and we are in even deeper poop than we were back then. I now have three children and am most concerned for their future and (to quote Whitney Houston) "I believe the children are our future, teach them WELL and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside"!! The lyrics of that song have always been very dear to me because when the song came out, well she was singing about me and my generation! Now I want those lyrics, along with my own desire to give my/all "children" a sense of pride to mean something because that will make it easier for them (more lyrics
) to effect the future!

As such, my two oldest boys are being educated by me. My 15 yr old is a very "aware" person who has an extreme interest in peaceful protest and standing his ground when it comes to any and all abuses of power. Lets just say he is having and has had a difficult time in the public school system lol
! The fact that I support him in this really upsets the infrastructure within the system. They are surely keeping an eye on him and myself but we do not create waves, merely ripples at this point. Although nothing would make him happier than to be a part of the catalyst that makes waves as well as pure trouble for TPTB! I know he would be interested in participating in this march you are proposing and I am also very willing to participate in whatever capacity that may be needed.

Please U2U me with any details or plans you may have regarding this and lets see what we can make happen, shall we?!

S&F for you my friend
.

Edit to add: This was an instant reply to the OP; my apolgies as I know this is 'un-forum-like conduct' and I shall now read the rest of the thread. I will most likely reply again after reading through it's entirety.

$8,073,383,400 per year, estimated total savings.

Big business does these types of cuts all the time, just like they are doing right now America!

If Congresspersons were required to serve 20, 25 or 30 years (like everyone else) in order to collect retirement benefits there is no telling how much we would save. Now they get full retirement after serving only ONE term. Which is a load of Bravo Sierra.

You can check my numbers. I believe they are accurate though.

Nice, you managed to save just over 8 billion dollars. We can buy everyone in America dinner at Applebee's with all that money. I don't think you comprehend how minuscule this amount is in regards to government spending. If you think that dismantling the entire balance system our county was founded upon is worth 8 billion per year then you are either very young and naive or very dumb and dangerous. Which one is it?

I think you fellas need to look at the big picture, as in expand your scope of thinking here.

Right now this country is experiencing an uneasiness like we havent seen in a generation, and it's not just the youth that are madder than hell.

I am one of these people, and there are many others like me. We will all see each other one day. Wheather it is on the street fighting for our lives or starving away in a FEMA camp, the choice is yet to be made.

While he may have started from the idea of a youth movement, this is a people's movement.

While I think the OP started from something small, as well. He is on to something big. All are invited. Let's get this done America!

I have no problem with a fairly big sized government actually, so long as it is coherent, working for the people, transparent, and does not infringe on our basic liberties as a people.
I find many government programs have been and continue to be useful.

I don't like things like homeland security, patriot act, and a host of other things that make little sense, have stupid amounts of power, expensive, and dangerous for our way of life, but things like the FDA, FBI, Military, and various social and environmental programs are not just good, but actually needed.
no single state can effect broad change like the federal government. What is lacking is the transparent direction of the organizations.

The fight is to lessen government...that simply will not happen. History will show this clearly..what can happen though if the argument changes is a demand for transparency and functional managment. Make each service be accountable like any other business is. have bipartisan committees with real power overseeing each one of these, answerable to finances, and the law.

unchecked secret powers is a bad thing...it matters not if we have 50 senators, or 5000...thats not the problem, its the black cloud that is going on in the programs themselves.

The only people that can change that is us. The generation that has been hailed as losers and punks, video gamers, and MTV snobs MUST SNAP OUT OF IT. The younger generations don't understand how to do it, and are to young in any case to be taken seriously. This burden falls on our shoulders. We have to show young Americans that there is still many reasons to stand up as one for a common goal. We have to remind them of what it means to look out for your fellows and your countrymen. WE HAVE TO SHOW THEM HOW TO BE AMERICANS.

Just a few thoughts on this

I'm from the MTV generation of the 80's, including video games. Granted, I didn't get MTV on the rez but we could watch it sometimes if we went to someone's house that did. We had plenty video games at the gas stations etc.
And I consider myself pretty wide awake to what is taking place. I think the problem lies within the constant need to be wired in and connected. We see some kids who can't even make it through dinner without texting. It's crazy. Gaming always has been. I used to game 24 hours straight. I don't think we can blame it all on that.

But I will agree that alot, not all are being lulled into sleep by their facebooks, cell phones, ipods, games, etc. The ante has been upped by technology.

Alot of people didn't wake up until 9/11. Look how many woke up during the swine flu bs. I think people are waking up but we are a lazy lazy nation. We have to look at why exactly people don't revolt against what is taking place. Is it something in our food, is it TV, is it technology?

And I too wonder what in the hell it's going to take for people to finally get fed up.

It might have to take getting the internet shut down for people to sit up and take notice. How many kids do you think will be # off if they wake up some morning and they can't text, check mail, or game?

"The youth of America feels trapped within a world of MTV bull snot, materialistic items, and status among their peers."

Unfortunately they love it. Just try to take it away from them. They will revolt at YOU. The youth are not the answer.

The efforts of the US Government to silence WL should be a sign that they are scared of us finding out the truth. They should be even more scared of what will happen should 1 million people march up to the Capitol and say enough is enough.

America has roughly 300 million people, the UK has roughly 65 million people. Before the Iraq war, nearly 1 million people protested on the streets of the UK and yet it changed absolutely nothing. 1 million people in our little island, a much larger percentage of the population than in america and still no changes occured, politicians were not deterred or worried.

I don't like violence, but when voices are ignored, when the peoples will goes unfufilled then violence will occur, because it grows out of frustration. Maybe we're approaching another French style revolution. The recent attack on Prince charles car hints toward this.

Consider the French revolution and why it occured, then compare it to the western world now.

1. Unstable economy
2. Massive national debt
3. A number of drawn out wars
4. Further debt becaue of war
5. A feeling in the lower classes that the upper classes didn't care abut them at all
6. A growing gap between rich and poor

All of these are currently ongoing, of course there were other factors going on in France back then but the powder keg in modern times seems rather full.

Your idea to reduce the size of congress is exactly OPPOSITE of what should happen. Rather than concentrating as much power as possible into as few people as possible, work toward two or three times the number of congress and cut their pay in half or more. A good sized congress would be 3,000 people total as to prevent bribery from being a problem. The New Hamshire (non-federal) state senate has about 300 members, and because of the extremely high number of them in such a small state, ordinary people like you and me are regularly elected to their position. 12 of the 750+ Free State project members who have moved to New Hampshire are now state senate members. Amazing, if you ask me. The free state project is something that really appears on track to actually work, and there really are a large number of leaders in New Hampshire making it happen.

So let’s get MTV shut down, blame it on the government, and then they will be on our side and revolt with us!

The government uses the younger generation’s ignorance and apathy as a tool to achieve their own ends, right? Why should they have all the fun? Let’s use the younger generation’s addiction to MTV as a tool to further our own ends!

Create the problem (Shutdown MTV), cause a reaction (Millions of angry young people), come up with the solution (overthrow the government and implement a new system).

Let’s use their own tactics against them!

They should be even more scared of what will happen should 1 million people march up to the Capitol and say enough is enough.

If we were able to organize a unified protest in washington, the rest of the country would have no choice but to pay attention. It would also be a strong show of solidarity and support to our British brothers and sisters fighting for their futures as we speak. Then the system would be getting hit on 4 fronts, the UK, and the US via protesting, and via the internet by cyber attacks and Wikileaks being kept strong. If we used our bodies and our voices, instead of our computers and our keyboards, the message would ring clear through out the country:

YOU'RE RUINING OUR FUTURE AND WE ARE GOING TO TAKE IT BACK WITH EXTREME PREDJUDICE TOWARDS THE OPPOSITION.

JULY 4TH 2011, 1 MILLION PEOPLE WILL MARCH TO WASHINGTON AND RECLAIM OUR INDEPENDANCE FROM THIS CORRUPTED SYSTEM. ON JULY 4TH 2011 WE WILL DEMAND RADICAL CHANGE.

I still have faith in my brethren, across the pond, when I read threads like this.

Amen Brother.

Of course. No one has a problem with large governing bodies if everything is running smoothly and life is fantastic. I too enjoy some government programs. But, the point I made in my thread and I would prefer to debate there, was that all those programs can be managed on the State level and the people themselves can decide what is necessary and what is not.

We also know that absolute power corrupts absolutely. This has been proven time and time again and has been shown to be true in America as well. That power can not be held by one individual but must be shared by us all equally.

All of that can still be handled on the State level with the exception of the military.

Transparency is lacking, but more importantly our lack of a voice is the greatest concern.

The fight is to lessen government...that simply will not happen. History will show this clearly..what can happen though if the argument changes is a demand for transparency and functional management. Make each service be accountable like any other business is. have bipartisan committees with real power overseeing each one of these, answerable to finances, and the law.

The fight will happen. If this goes as planned you will see it with your own eyes.

The policy makers will just create new policy over time until we are right back were we started we can not hold someone responsible for anything until we are each able to hold each other accountable equally.

unchecked secret powers is a bad thing...it matters not if we have 50 senators, or 5000...thats not the problem, its the black cloud that is going on in the programs themselves.

Actually, the fact that others hold power over me is a problem. I do not need to be governed, controlled, told what I can and can't do for my safety. I'm a grown man and capable of all that myself. I especially don't need my pay stolen to fund this immense Nanny to pad all my corners.

children are getting more smart each and everyday, they soak information in like a sponge.
technology is becoming more and more complex everyday, and since their parents have the technology, they would give their children "hand me downs" if you like, that we would identify as future technology in our time of childhood. so dont be suprised if you see 8 year old pilots within the next 200 years.

i think something that we need to take into consideration is all the new IT bills that they are putting into action. we need a fall back plan we need a way to stay organized in case anything happens to the web. that would be detrimental to the movement.

let's not pick at each other and have conflicts of beliefs before we can put a new system into power we have to shut the old one down.

this is not about conflict, this is about peace and putting the power back into the hands of the people. that my friends is the ultimate goal. of course in a peaceable way.
