I used to be a devout Christian, but never was my attention called to those verses for some reason.

Right now though, I am making this verse known and I wish to see just WHO here is a REAL Christian. Thats all. And if this verse is TRUE, I will become a Christian again, and WILL drink poison myself for sure. Absolutely.

But as it looks right now, that is very unlikely since the Christians here who claim to be "real" are just not looking so "real" in my opinion. Nope!!

So I take it you are one of little faith in Jesus Christ and the Bible. This is not a hard task to do if you believe!!

You can take whatever you want from it. I am not a trained chimp. I don't do tricks on command for other people's amusement or entertainment.

Not simple tricks, not hard ones. No tricks.

If I were your guest -
I would be obligated to perform some act of gracious indulgence just to make you happy.
But like I said earlier, no snacks, no incentive - I won't roll over.

Additionally the original definition of the word witch was
someone who made poisonous drinks. The stuff
that only advanced spiritual people could handle.

On top of that a snake bite rarely kills a grown man,
though it is a miserable experience. I'm pretty
sure that in one part of the New Testament
there is a John on an island who reached
into a wood pile and was snake bit.
His crew was amazed he
didn't die.

Later, he wrote a book about the experience
called The Revelation. Apparently having
Jesus as a spirit guide made it
all good.

WOW, thank you!! An actual thought-provoking reply!! A very refreshing change from the normal Christian cop-out replies.

I will have to look further into that when I am done here. Perhaps the original Hebrew/Greek word used would lead it to mean something else. Thank you for not answering this thread in the usual nonsense Christian desperation manner!! Honestly, thank you!!

...Study the Bible, and then search for evidence that the events actually occured. For instance, Noah's flood has been backed by a great deal of physical evidence and is referenced in Egyptian history, as well as Mayan, Sumerian and historical accounts from all ancient cultures.

Did you ever hear of The Epic Of Giglamesh? The Christian Noah story is a copy from earlier myths. The Noah story is based entirely on older myths!! If you did the reading as you claim, I got to ask you, how did you miss that one?!!

You answer is in 1 Corinthians 12: 27-31

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

It explains that not all Christians will have the same gifts. So SOME will have the gift of miracles but not ALL.

Nope, we're doing fine without ya!

Did you get a "quote" key for Halloween or something? You're a little out of control with those.

HAHA, the usual Christain reply of nonsense. Nonsense isnt really what your jesus wanted ye to go forth and preach, now is it?!! LOL

Who here would like to show how “real” the Bible is, how “real” Jesus Christ” is, and how “real” of a Christian you are? If you are a “real” Christian, you have the special powers of drinking anything deadly and it will not hurt you according to Jesus Christ as written in the Holy Bible!! AMAZING!!!

I have to admit,I'm not entirely comfortable on the asking people if they want to drink "anything deadly" to prove thier faith. You could have just ask if they wanted to heal someone, its still not likely to work and theres no risk of some loon going "OK Smart ass" and tanking a bottle of "anything deadly".

Well honestly, I certainly do NOT want anyone, to drink anything deadly, absolutely not. I am just trying to say that if folks REALLY TRULY believed in this Jesus man-god, and this man-made bible book, then why would it be so hard to do this test of faith? Naturally nobody will do this, but NOBODY will admit that they have DOUBTS on things in their faith that they REFUSE to question or INVESTIGATE!! I mean come on!! Why cant these "real" Christians admit that they do NOT believe all that nonsense fully?

I have created this thread with two objectives in mind:

1) To offer our “real” Christians here a golden opportunity to “win souls”, and to receive extra blessings here on earth, while building up your “rewards” and “treasures” that will await you in heaven.

I have a problem with this above because "real" Christians would not care about the "rewards" and "treasures" for their deeds; they would do good things and show compassion and concern for other living beings because this is the right thing to do.

I am getting out of order here by answering this one next, but I made a special exception for you reply..

Thank you!! Another thought-provoking reply. Refreshing!! I will look into that one as well when I am done replying to the rest. Again, THANK YOU for a thought-provoking reply instead of the usual nonsense replies that I am dealing with from the others.

No one can say they are a "real, good Christian", nor that they are undoubtably "saved". It's not what Christianity is about. We are to not judge, especially others.

But I'm pretty sure it doesn't entail playing parlor games for the amusement of you.
And that definitely seems to be your goal, amusement.

No, thank you. As has been pointed out, we are told to not tempt God, that not all have the same gifts of the Spirit, and that the passage was probably meant as an encouragement against harm when needed, not a "test" of our faith.
Haven't seen the scripture yet that says we have to entertain fools.

And I think it is the utmost evil to simply do good because you think you will get a reward. That is what faith is to me also. Doing good deeds thinking they will be noticed and passed on but also knowing that you may never get anything back in return. You may be doing a good deed feeding the hungry and clothing the naked, but that doesn't make you a good person if you are doing it for a reward. Which brings me to another point: I am disgusted by the vast majority of Religious folk who say that there would be no morals without religion.

Thank you for your reply. I agree 1000% with all that you mention here.

The character of Christ in the Bible seems FAR different than that which we see coming from Christians and Christianity today, doesnt it? I truly believe that if Christians did act in a manner similar to the Jesus of the bible, that they would not have the great number of so-called "haters" around them trying to get honest answers and replies out of them. Perhaps these "haters" just honestly dislike hypocrites that act completely different than their Christ. Hmmm, yes that may be it...

Interesting thoughts, but you and I both know the scripture you are referring to in no way is telling anyone to drink poison or play with snakes lol. It is referring to God's protection in times of need. I'm getting the impression you are a "little" angry with the "church". I am a born again Christian and have been for over 22 years, there's a lot in the church which does not stand up to biblical principles. I heard a preacher once say, "when we get to heaven there will be a lot of people there that we didn't think were going, and a lot of ppl not there that we thought were going". Is it possble that the bible is 100% the word of God but has been interpreted wrong? Do not be turned off by the church, I believe the devil took that over a long time ago. What we see as the church today is not a reflection in any way of God's love. It is full of judgement and self righteousness. Check out Genesis chapter 1 and 2. You will see that God created man(mankind) in His own image and after His likeness. We were created male and female. Not sexually with or without a penis but spiritually male and female. God didn't form Adam until chapter 2. Most ppl think that God provided clothing after the fall, I don't think that's the case. Remember Adam and Eve were the only 2 human beings to see God face to face and walk with Him. Not possible if you have skin on, sounds a little weird I know lol. But think about it, even Jesus himself did not see God face to face while He walked this earth. God could never appear to anyone face to face because His glory would have fried them. So here's another thought, If underneath our clothes(skin) we are male and female then there is no homosexuality, there can't be. Jesus was the sacrifice that restored our relationship and removed us from the curse of the law. Where there is no law there is no sin, for example if there is no speed limit u can't get a speeding ticket. When we begin to accept ourselves the way we were created with all of our likes and dislikes, and stop allowing the church to tell us to fight against our urges we will be free and we will love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Anytime you read in the N.T. words like immorality, adultery, fornication, think of it like this. God does not want us to adopt the way of the world which says me first, whatever it takes to get ahead. We all need to stop worrying, relax and instead of telling ppl God loves them why don't we show them.

Thought-provoking, indeed. Thank you for your reply.

So I guess you are just one of those "real" Christians that is limited in any use other than talking a lot of smack, eh? No use otherwise, just a smack-talker. LOL

Congrats for your 1st place award here!! Well earned.

I do consider myself to be a true Christian. I'm not English so I wanted to look up the verses that you quoted, and when I checked online this is what Matthew 16: 15-20 say

15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

17 Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

18 I also tell you, that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

19 I will give to you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, and whatever you will bind on earth will be bound in heaven; and whatever you will loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

20 Then he charged the disciples that they should tell no man that he was the Christ.

I know that I've read what you have quoted somewhere before, but it's obviously not Matthew 16: 15-20

Yes, thank you, you are correct. I corrected the error earlier when I revisited my thread. Thanks again for pointing that out.

Okey Dokey.....I am a self confessed doomed soul per your definition. Rather than you preaching to those who think in the same terms as yourself....and leaving the rest of the unbelieving heathens her at ATS to rot in hell why don't you make your case to the damned.

No, you got it all backwards. I too am one of the "doomed" by Christan definition. I am just here trying to see how "real" the "real" christains here really are. Thats all.

But according to them, YEP, we are doooooooomed for all eternity just for not believing in some WILD STUFF in some old book!!

So you and I are on the same page here on this one.

Yes I agree there. Problem is that REAL Christians, are VERY FEW to NONE in all reality. What we call Christians nowadays, are simply complete hypocrites and nothing less. The huge majority in this thread cannot provide anything other than cop-outs or excuses or insults. See how those "real" Christians here REALLY behave? Hmmmm...

I read a lot of double talk from you. What struck me in your OP was the use of the words "fact" "truth" and "faith" those words cancel each other out.

The bible is left up to individual interpretation.....and unfortunately the original writings have been changed and hijacked for brainwashing the masses. So the million dollar question for me is WHOS INTERPRETATION IS THE CORRECT ONE?
