and this is the Springer show

Obviously not relating you to Jerry Springer but like the TV show this subject matter is emotional and culturally diverse in it's understanding.

I think most don't even realise how rude and insensitive we can all be at times

I do however believe that those who complain about the integrity of ATS are actually in a way destroying the integrity of ATS.

loyal ATS members and those who care about what you've created are in a sense trying to protect the integrity and standards of this website but in this Noble task they are themselves destroying the very foundations that this site was built on.

but all in all and at the end of the day it's all good.

If these skeptics you are referring to are not using ATS to attack people, then I'm sure they have nothing to worry about.

However if they cannot be skeptical without being abusive, then Skeptic Overlord and Springer should show those 'skeptics' no mercy. They are replaceable and they set a bad example when allowed to run amok.

ATS is a better place when there are less abusive members than when there are more abusive members, no?

Im sorry, but I cant see what the problem here is, or why we have 13 pages of discussion on the OP.

Surely, all that is being asked for here is a bit of politeness. Nobody is telling anyone what to believe or who is right and wrong. As I understand it- and please correct me if Im wrong- both sceptics and believers are free to voice their opinions on a topic, so long as they keep their language civil. Ok, so some comments by both sides may appear infuriatingly naive or just plain wrong, but if you feel the need to let the person know this, then do it in a polite fashion. Simple as that- no one is being 'picked on'- I seems to me that this request goes out to both sides of the discussion.

Where Im from, good manners is a given. If you really object to being asked to be polite, and Im really not being 'clever' here- I would suggest perhaps another forum might suit your needs better?

What a crock. The whole point of my visiting this website is to laugh at the nuts. Having respect for UFO believers is like having respect for someone who plays with their poop. Would you try to logically debate someone playing with their own poop?

Then this is obviously the wrong website for you. Sure you're within your rights to laugh at people you don't agree with, but keep it off the boards. What use does insults and laughing at them have in a discussion? It doesn't.

Thank you for being honest, at least you own up to your despicable attitudes and don't try to hide behind weasel words and hypocrisy, as other teasers are obviously doing, well done and thanks again, might even use it as a signature.

Yeah, for sure old_god, you have a great point and something definantly to think about, so what do you think? Just food for thought---Would you rather have these UFO's be a flying object containing beings from another planet, (or possibly ours to begin with just coming back) or would you rather it be our own government? I dont know which one sounds scarier LOL, Do you think all are just us, or do you think some truly are from Outer space? Sorry if this is off topic.

Since you asked, here's the answer. old_god was close.

The UFO/ET thing is God having fun. The word "Area 51" is coded to mean: "Gab Laugh Talk", or "Gab joke Think". "Outer Space" converts to "Laugh Joke, PS".

I know because I've been working with ET presence for 25 years to learn the ET hidden language in the English language..

Well hasn't this been a fun thread. It's almost been as much fun as playing my old Donkey Kong, having barrels thrown everywhere from both sides of the fence.....

I'd like to recommend participants this thread is affecting perhaps review JKROG08 & and The Myth Lives:

ATS UFO/Alien chronological thread directory.
www.abovetopsecret.com...

In that thread for newer members you will see how research in the area can work on ATS without one liners or just you tube links. Additionally you may find topics already researched and debunked, or case open. Better than skedaddling around You tube to look for things.

And older cranky pants posters (which we ALL have been at times I don't care what anyone says, we ALL have been snooty here and there including this thread) we can look back and remind ourselves to get researching, discussing and debating.

Enjoy. Get back to the ATS research roots

Great point, and something that's been mentioned earlier in the thread; Most Youtube videos don't speak for themselves, so posting a video and asking for a discussion isn't enough, and is just as insulting to me as so many of the things pointed out in this thread. It smacks of instant gratification and wishful internet stardom.

Posting a Youtube video, then typing a single line asking for a discussion isn't research. When was the last time someone posted a YT video, as well as their conversations with the poster and that person's story, locations, time of day/year, and so on? I can't remember a single one. That information comes out eventually, but usually well beyond the point when those threads are considerable as worthwhile.

Not only that, but how often are people like Phage, Chadwickus, MMN, et al who post actual research that points toward a reasonable explanation completely ignored? I usually get a chuckle out of the next few posts that come after those guys (and so many others) because of the obvious disregard and "pick up the pieces" mentality that comes with the defensive nature of so many. It's as if showing why a video isn't aliens is a direct attack on the person who posted it (who, in most cases, wasn't even the originator of the evidence to begin with). That's simply not true, and until that's realized, there will constantly be outcries of abuse.

I will admit that there are quite a few snide remarks of "Anyone who believes this could be aliens needs a lobotomy" type expressions, but those absolutely come from both sides of the fence, and shouldn't be in anybody's debate toolbox.

You know dictionaries are a GOOD thing.
I posted this in another thread where I was being slammed for being a "skeptic":

I'm not sure if you now... but true skeptics need proof not blind faith, and even then it is not a "sure fact". Just because something is called "true", a skeptic needs proof of some kind to accept it as true, or closest to "true".

I know that flies in the face of religions, and in the case of religion, I am an agnostic/skeptic,

In the case of UFO being truly alien, I am also agnostic and skeptical, until REAL proof is available, then I will need to re-evaluate.
Even then I will be as unsure of that "knowledge" as I am about the random human.
Also see Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.
en.wikipedia.org...

skep·tic [skep-tik] –noun 1. a person who questions the validity or authenticity of something purporting to be factual. 2. a person who maintains a doubting attitude, as toward values, plans, statements, or the character of others. 3. a person who doubts the truth of a religion, esp. Christianity, or of important elements of it. 4. ( initial capital letter ) Philosophy . a. a member of a philosophical school of ancient Greece, the earliest group of which consisted of Pyrrho and his followers, who maintained that real knowledge of things is impossible. b. any later thinker who doubts or questions the possibility of real knowledge of any kind. a. a member of a philosophical school of ancient Greece, the earliest group of which consisted of Pyrrho and his followers, who maintained that real knowledge of things is impossible. b. any later thinker who doubts or questions the possibility of real knowledge of any kind.

Exactly my friend. And that's all, nothing more need to be sayed!
But as you can see by some posters even in this topic, we can notice very well that some members in ATS simply don't want to be civil, and just want to bring havoc & chaos to every topic possible!

Trolling?; Bullying?; Mental disorder?; Who knows... But sadly this phenomena happens all over the place in the internet foruns.
It looks that it's a kind of a nacional sport this days to be "hidden" behind a Computer monitor, annoying, spoiling and offending people with out a very good reason at all!

I could easily contact a reporter from one of the major news organizations and it would be world headlines for a while.

But I will not,do so,yet.

This forum gives a member that just joined the same benefits as a experienced and "tenured" member.

There are many good threads that get lost by adult members because of the sheer number of threads being started that are nothing more than pablum.

I wish you all luck but this is no longer a adult site.

As far as I know ATS has never been the place to openly call out members.

That would just add to the problem.

Everytime I have a post removed, all I have to do is send a U2U to the moderator and ask why. Most of the time I get even before I ask why.

There's no reason to drag people through the mud.

~Keeper
No people and MODS just keep making passive agressive posts NOT calling out anyone or referenceing threads, it happens all the time here, and thus why the behavior continues. If examples were shown we could all learn exactly what the mods mean when they start these kinds of threads.

From now on I will be alerting everything close to a violation of the tnc, because obviously our MODS want us to narc on our neighbors. If you dont do your part you are part of the problem.

any chance of a forum for utube videos to be posted on the ufo subject
so the main board is not spamed
that way anything that gets say 25 flags is then moved to the ufo forum
for open debate
no posts just the video the op and flags
when 25 flags then over to the ufo forum

i realize its a big ask but if you dont ask.......

xploder
THIS is a brilliant idea!! Please consider this option.

Thank you for providing examples, that is what needs to be done, not to shame anyone, for the poster seems shameless in his her opinions, but to educate on the idea of what is and is not acceptable behavior for our community. The mods seem incredulous that some posters dont get it.

One, some posters OBVIOUSLY dont get it because they respond poorly and insultingly ON purpose. For whatever reason.

Yet others simply have no idea what decorum is, until it is exampled for them. Think of our younger posters, possibly used to posting on uncensored forums, with lax rules. They may actually NEED examples to see what these kind of rules mean. It cannot be harder to provide examples (names can be retracted, but use real board examples) than it is to keep typing, seriously? Really? What is so hard to understand about this? Please re read the OP. You didnt read the OP did you? YOU ar4e childish, etc etc coming from mods.

Just my opinion.

I've learned that the most important thing at ATS is don't disagree with the OWNER. My post that you responded to was removed.
Baloney. I disagree with them all the time, and they have never censored me. Ignored me, yes,
, but never censored. Anyway if you post without personal attacks you should be fine.(in general)

Can i make a suggestion? Here's what "everyone" should do. For 2 weeks no matter who you are or which side of the fence you stand on when it comes to any and all issues, stay calm and civil when responding or creating a thread. Do not swear, do not get angry, do not provoke, and most of all be intelligent and logical when posting material of any kind. This goes for all ^_^.

My prediction, in 2 weeks time if this is followed, we will have started a steady process of removing the "obvious" "wrinkles in the glass" and will be on our way to a true civil, polite, peaceful, just, intelligent, truthful and logical forum.

Try it everyone, can't hurt can it ^_^.

p.s - feel free to add to this suggestion and tell me if i missed other emotions that should be kept at bay ^_^.

This is getting ridiculous, all he asked for was for people to be civil to each other in discussions, especially when it comes to the ufo debate, and is basically asking people to lose the hostility, and points out that there has been rather a large amount of hostility directed at the believers, or whatever you want to call them.
It's really simple, all this hostility in the discussions just leads to more confusion.
Great OP and I look forward to some rational debate where people are friendly, not looking to humiliate others.
