Homeostasis.

In this thread I am timidly submitting that the Aztecs & Maya were using a knowledge base centered on Homeostasis, not Empirical Evidence. .

So which of the translated texts are you using to support your idea? And what are the key elements of this knowledge?

Well, I'm working on translations as fast as I may, I do have a working simulator of the Mayan calendar...

I meant "which Maya texts are you using in your work and from what sites? "

I was fascinated to discover that there's over 5,000 Mayan hieroglyphic texts from almost 500 sites; an interestingly small number that suggests maybe only a very few were literate. I want to find out more about them and was looking for a good dictionary. I found Montgomery's dictionary over at FAMSI (for those of you who (like me) don't know one hieroglyph from another, it's at this link)) but haven't attempted to read any texts.

Those are about as complex as Egyptian hieroglyphs, and right now I've got my hands full with those (for the university classes I'm taking. I have to be able to translate some hieroglyphs.)

Phenology is the study of periodic plant and animal life cycle events and how these are influenced by seasonal and interannual variations in climate, as well as habitat factors (such as elevation).

I actually know what phenology is because I'm a citizen scientist contributor to a global phenology project... or was. The dogwood trees they sent us to monitor did not survive their first year.
