I would think it was a combination of a few things and not just one. Its just odd that our governments, rather then spend money on ways to grow food easily and cost effectivley, we spend billions/trillions of dollars on a war that really serves no purpose whatsoever.

Also, from what I read, farmers arent as angry at low crop yeilds as they are about the price it costs to grow and the monopoly that has been created for the average grower,

Ive had a similar experience. Except it was a women trying to buy something small, 3-4 dollars on her credit card. And Ive seen that same episode with different people in different locations, trying to buy different things then getting completely shocked when they realized their maxed. And maybe Ive just started paying more attention to it, but I swear I see it more and more frequently.

Many of these cards have quietly started charging $3.50 on top of each purchase.
People close to the edge who make a lot of tiny purchases are running out of funds in half the time.
They don't know why and feel confused I'm sure. The poor people I know just internalize it,
and won't discuss it with anyone because being broke is the same thing as having leprosy these days.

Just wait until unemployment payments are stopped. Get ready for a bumpy ride--and if you have a yard, no matter what the size, start growing food this spring. Every little bit will help.

Ziiiing we have a winner. I also doubt the gov't will further legislate additional unemployment payments and when this happens, the you know what will hit the fan so hard and fast, you won't even recognize that is was a fan to begin with. People on unemployment are still eating and, arguably, getting by but with a very slim margin. Yank that off the table completely and the social unrest will skyrocket. As I've said before we are a generation that embodies a culture of entitlement. It is an expectation that you have Internet, an overpriced house, flashy car and the latest smart phone. Remove these items and more for people who, for the most part, have not struggled and the result is pure chaos and uprising.

I like everyone else am definitely noticing both large price swings in food costs and less offerings on the shelf. I'm really noticing bottled water being shelved less but that could be folks like us hoarding it all

During Halloween one year I heard from one of the trick or treaters parents say when
giving out candy to them " I bet they went trick or treating just to pass out candy to
us" then he said something like oh look, from their bucket into ours" with a sly grin
on his face. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it....and yes I think you
got it, how does it feel?

This reminds me of a video I saw, the beginning is the higher prices, then there will be no more food left on the shelves.

I wouldn't worry about it. It won't go on for too long.

Monsanto will save us with their cheaper GM versions.

Another member had posted sometime earlier that Costco was selling $799.00 survivor food for one year. Really, I hate buying into conspiracy, but I think I will heed the warning. Gonna go buy my food and water. What a crazy world we live in.
