NEW YORK: Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is living a "haunted life" fearing arrest and has been on the run following the release of nearly 4 lakh secret US military documents related to Iraq war on his whistle-blowing website.
Assange checks into hotels under false names, dyes his hair, sleeps on sofas and floors, and uses cash instead of credit cards, often borrowed from friends, a US daily, which interviewed him last week, said.
"They called me the James Bond of journalism...it got me a lot of fans, and some of them ended up causing me a bit of trouble," he said expressing concern that UK may act against him if US decides to prosecute him --- an option that is currently being explored.
"By being determined to be on this path, and not to compromise, I've wound up in an extraordinary situation," he was quoted as saying by 'The New York Times'.
Another record shows an Apache helicopter gunship fired on two men believed to have fired mortars at a military base in Baghdad in February 2007, even though they were attempting to surrender. The crew asked a lawyer whether they could accept the surrender, but were told they could not, "and are still valid targets". So they shot them.
In another case, US soldiers suspected army officers of cutting off a detainee's fingers and burning him with acid.
"The footage shows the IA soldiers moving the detainee into the street, pushing him to the ground, punching him and shooting him," states the log, which also names at least one of the perpetrators.
We found, with relative ease, reports of horrible abuse committed by Iraqi security forces on detainees - beatings, electrocution, the use of an electric drill on a man's legs. The Americans were aware the abuse had taken place. On some, not all, of these reports was marked "no further investigation", suggesting that American forces took no action on learning of the abuse.
Channel 4 is the only UK broadcaster to have been given access to nearly 400,000 secret military significant activities reports (SIGACTS) logged by the US military in Iraq between 2004 and 2009. These reports tell the story of the war and occupation which the US military did not want the world to know.
The data shows that the Americans were aware of the horrific level of violence inflicted by Iraqi sectarian militias: over 32,500 murders; more than 10,000 shot in the head; nearly 450 decapitated; over 160 were children.

I don't know for you, but if I was living a "haunted life", fearing arrest, I would not book interviews in news building (known to be close to government). There must be better hideouts. In fact, I would not book interviews at all.
Hey, i'll be there!
Come on. They can't find him? On the run? Fearing arrest?
Yeah, whatever.
And please, don't give me the "insurance file" reason. You don't let a man free hoping he will not release a file or hoping this file is the worst he could release. Free could mean 50 more files. Arrested or die, 1 file.edit on 25-10-2010 by Esger because: (no reason given)edit on 25-10-2010 by Esger because: (no reason given)

What if this was a plot by both sides of the conversation to make Julian look good for releasing fake documents what if CNN and Wikileaks actually plotted this. I'm just saying it could be like on the oil spill how nobody was paying any attention to Obama's negligence.
A classified U.S. military document appears to lend credence to claims that Iran crossed the Iraqi border to arrest three American hikers.
The field report was one of 400,000 the whistle-blower website WikiLeaks released Friday concerning U.S. and coalition operations in Iraq.
The report lists a number of military grids where the Americans were believed to have been hiking or had been detained -- all on the Iraqi side of the border, according to The New York Times, which reviewed the document with aid from an American government official.

That's exactly what I feel too. Lately the Assange guy is behaving very oddly, including with people from it's own "network". Me be thinking that this whole Wikileaks is a sharade, just look at it from a disinfo point of view, they made all the necessary steps :
1. good leaks ( of sorts, not atomic stuff but good enough)
2. guys get arrested because of leaks, giving the impression that the stuff is actually real
3. Assange is "hunted". O'really ? You telling me that the people which raided 2 countries for oil and killed millions of people would have *ANY* problem with making that guy vanish into thin air ? Give me a break ...
4. Assange get's "framed" for rape and other stuff, clearly showing us that the TPTB want to discredit him. Interestingly enough he kinda walks out of it which makes one wonder. Again, am I supposed to believe that such a powerful block of interests ( ie US and the european vassals) can't do the job right if they want to actually make the guy never see light again ? Please
5. And so on and so forth ...
Doesn't this look fishy to anyone else ? I'm really hoping to be paranoid here, but I highly doubt it tbh.

She is right to "tax his person", because he could be a RAPIST HIMSELF. She is being a JOURNALIST and asking questions, so she shouldn't do her job? Him running out of the interview shows he is being a coward and when ANYONE questions Assange they are just smearing him? When people ask questions about RAPE in Iraq then it's ok to ask questions, but when it hits home to Assange it's just a smear campaign?
