Obama booking 570 rooms in an extravagant hotel = stealing from the taxpayers to pay for luxurious vacation = unqualified person doing the stealing is holding the position of POTUS = justifiable anger by the American public.

Besides, the Marriott and the Holiday Inn are "nice" hotels. The Taj Mahal Hotel is a farce for the filthy rich. Something Obama isn't.

And just the cost of your monthly internet bill would feed a small village in africa for a month.

Normally when a person sticks their nose into someone else's affairs they are trying to re-direct attention away from their own. So taking care of our problems at home should take priority. Bloody shame about African villages, but the issue is the wisdom of such a high profile and horribly expensive over seas "diplomatic" trip. What would the big deal be if they used a conference call? A heck of a lot safer and cheaper them meeting face-to-face.

My thoughts on the timing of the trip is that maybe wide spread voter fraud in the mid-term election may make the trip a convenient escape till the pr machine works it's mojo.

57,000 INR!! FOR A SINGLE ROOM! Ok, so lets see how many US Dollars 57,200 INR is..

57200 INR = $1286.55! SO, basically $1300.00 for 1 room for 1 night!

so.. let's do some simple math here:

750 (rooms in the hotel) * 1300 = $975,000, then there's the banquet, restaurant, room service, oh yea and travel fees - now of course if you booked an entire hotel for any period of time you're going to get a group rate, and of course if you're the President of the United States you're going to get some sort of a discount.. but the fact remains, they ARE spending over a million dollars on this simple stay in a hotel PER DAY - I probably will never even see a million dollars in my lifetime! Just saying...

Here's something interesting: back in '06, Rep. Waxman apparently (and imho, rightfully) brought to light the amount of money Bush was spending on travel, in an effort to get him to reimburse for the use of AF1in campaigning. I think we all know how much the current Admin uses AF1 for campaigning, so i'm curious why Waxman hasn't brought this issue up again.

I supposed that if this is a situation in which he must travel to accomplish the goal of the meeting, it would seem costs could at least be paired back by some other measures, such as the FLOTUS not going which would trim back on the amount of security personnel and equipment needed. With the recent security failures connected to the run-of-the-mill hotels in that town, I can't imagine putting the President of the United States in one of those previously attacked hotels. Wouldn't make sense to do that, even though the WH team is probably well aware of how much fodder it gives you guys for your fits and writhings over every time the guy wastes water by flushing the toilet.

You people probably do think that you're smarter and more politically aware than the 1st team to manage the election of a black man with a name that rhymes with Iraq Hussein Osama to the office of President after the attacks of 9/11. As for the Taj Mahal, it's a tourist trap with little kids scamming idiot Americans left and right. It's big and it's remotely set off and away from the stuff around it. It's a natural security-wise, and I have no issue with my President being put in a location that can easily be secured and defended. Especially when he's hated by the Indian business community for his efforts to make the out-sourcing of American jobs more cumbersome and expensive. We don't put heads-of-state up in Red Roof Inns around here either. Some of you guys come off as if you've never ventured past the 7-11 outside the gates of your trailer park.

How much money is being spent for these 'trips' that Obama is taking? I can't imagine they're cheap

And I'm going to assume this money isn't being taken out of his personal bank account, so that's tax payers paying for Obama to bring his own chefs with him on a trip to India... When did our checks subtract money for personal trips for the POTUS?

You obviously haven't checked out your history of presidential official visits. The First Lady nearly always has a seperate schedule.

Usually, POTUS does the ceremonial work of meeting heads of state etc, while FLOTUS has traditionally done charity work on official visits or met with local charitable organizations. Their schedule is usually only the same at official state functions like dinners etc.

It's my belief that this entire issue has gone over the top of your head so it's serves me no use in trying to explain the anger in the people of this thread.

Is this visit going to create jobs here? Is this visit going to help the efforts of our troops in Afganistan or Iraq? Is this visit going to curb the trade deficit we have with China? Is this visit going to help lower the expense of health care that's already gone up since the Health Care Law passed? Will this visit benefit the common American?

If you can answer yes to even one of these questions, then the cost of the trip can be justified. But the thing about it is, it's an elaborate vacation for the Obamas. There is absolutely no political gain that will come out of this trip.

You don't have to tell me what this trip is about. I already know. It's just another way to give away $ billions of American tax dollars to another nation who sends us crappy goods.
