Just to give an idea of COST, I pretended to book a room there for tonight - now I realize booking a room at ANY hotel last minute will always add a few bucks to the price, versuses booking a room at a hotel well in advance - afterall I used to work in Reservations for Hilton...

Anyway, here we go:


57200 INR = $1286.55! SO, basically $1300.00 for 1 room for 1 night!

so.. let's do some simple math here:

750 (rooms in the hotel) * 1300 = $975,000, then there's the banquet, restaurant, room service, oh yea and travel fees - now of course if you booked an entire hotel for any period of time you're going to get a group rate, and of course if you're the President of the United States you're going to get some sort of a discount.. but the fact remains, they ARE spending over a million dollars on this simple stay in a hotel PER DAY - I probably will never even see a million dollars in my lifetime! Just saying...

Actually, I've been trying to ignore my gut feelings for a little while now. There is a real threat the elections will put a damper on the party animals, I've been worried they will go for the juggler, do as much as they can behind the scenes, at the UN, ect. before they have to truly face and deal with us little people..... reminds me of when people were stripping their homes that were being foreclosed on....
I just hope the damage can be repairable.

states regarding their invoicing. Surely the accompanying heads
of companies would not visit at the taxpayers´expense.

This is probably the least significant reason to dislike Obama. How else do you think the President of the most powerful country in the world (which is in multiple wars in the region he's traveling by the way) is supposed to get around, all things considered.

You can't believe he put this all together and crunched the numbers of the expense himself, then gave the green light for the trip.

This was all done by the higher ups and advisors. The only thing you can say about Obama is "He should have decided not to travel at all if he cared about how much it cost". But then, he'd be putting off going to India and people would criticize him for that. It's not like he's going there to sunbathe.

There are diplomatic matters that need to be addressed concerning the entire region. So it cost money, we're a debtor nation, the more debt we accumulate the more money we'll have. If we never take out any debt we'd never become as powerful as we are now.
