Franz Rudolph Thomanek created the first successful chape charge penetrator munition in 1937. The charge focusing effect was named after Charles E. Munroe, who discovered it in 1888.

No they were not, just look at the jets in the first jet fighter, the Meteor compared to the first German jet fighter, the ME 262, the British engines were much better and more powerful.

Everyone knows that the British built the world's first jet engine, yet finds it perplexing that Nazi Germany flew the world's first jet aircraft. Statistically, the Power Jets W.2 (which was license-built in the US by General Electric as the J31) and de Havilland Goblin had more powerful thrust output than the Rolls-Royce Welland, BMW 003, Jumo 004, and the earliest jet engine designs by Frank Whittle and Hans von Ohain. The second generation of jet engines developed by Nazi Germany (HeS 011, Jumo 012, BMW 018), which reached the prototype stage only, were more powerful than the Welland, and the Jumo 012 and BMW 018 had more output than the Goblin or W.2 engines.
