They were only isolated for 17 days. As soon as the rescue team reached them and got the message that they were all alive they sent them water and food.

Yes, the company said first that they were 34 miners missing, but on the next day they said that they were 33 and not 34.

There was a press conference today, in which they talked about the auto-imposed silence about what happened.

Part of that press-conference can be seen here, but it's in Spanish, obviously.

34 become 33, spooky.

It might be as simple as holding out for cash etc...

But if we have a little fun with it...

It was a false flag for the recent UFO sightings (news coverage was massive). It was a combined sacrifice/attention conduit, they tapped into the reps gold supply and narked them off. It reminds me of that lame movie. So many UFO sightings in Chile aswell. The numerical significance make sense.

But hey, respect if they did go through being buried alive without losing it.

There's nothing suspicious about ANYTHING to do with why/how/what happened or ANYTHING to do with what they choose or choose not to speak about in public. It's not important. I can only imagine that I'd be just grateful to have got out alive and well.

I hope they sell their stories and are made equally rich as each other, which is another reason why they might not be blabbing straight away. Wait til everyone's out of hospital and well enough so the ycan ALL get paid by the media.

Which is fair game, you have to admit.

I think the coversage of the miner's by the MSM was way OVERKILL. CNN's frontpage was saturated with this story ad nauseum, and almost as much as the BP oil spill. And it's still on there.

It's great they made it out, and it should have been covered, but it was a little frightening how many other things that could have been covered with that air time and those resources.

The 17 days they won't talk about seems like something the mainstream media can grab ahold of to extend the time it's in the headlines, and I hardly believe it's anything relevent to the incident.

Apparently they do not want to talk about the problems between themselves that lead to the separation in three groups.

Seethis thread.

Imagine if you will, being in total darkness, not for a minute, or hour, or day, but for 17 days. 17 days is a long time to wonder if anybody is ever going to find you. And during this time, you are eating and drinking very little, some miners lost 20 or 30 pounds. At what point do you give up hope?

The first 17 days were the worst. After that, it was just a waiting game.

In the first 17 days, old grudges between workers could have become life threatening situations. People could have started to "crack" under the stress.

After 17 days, hope must have been small, so does the rule of law apply? Did anyone try to hurt someone else?

Did anyone "go off the deep end"?

I am glad I wasn't in that mine.

But, I am very glad that all made it out alive.

Ok, what if they're not talking fr the same reasons a lot of 'Nam vets don't talk, maybe they had to do something that the situation they were in called for. And for the same reasons as the vets, there's no possible way any of us can relate with a group of men who spent 60+ days underground, with most of 'em thinking day in and day out they were never going to get out, could you understand? No, none of us could, so whatever they did, in the end, only they know, only they understand what(if) happened and why, thus even if they admit doing something that for us would be morally questionable, can we really relate and understand? Can we even judge them? No, we can't.

OR

They we're visited my some underground society, or God, or the Devil, or simply spending that much time made them ever so slighty insane, hell, I would have.

From my understanding, these guys decided to write a book about their experience. Being trapped with a bunch of men for a long time allows them to bond. They decided that they would write a book instead of talking. That way they can make some much needed money off of it.

Their strategy is much better than telling the world on camera then having to go back to the mine for $1.00 a day (or an hour?).

Only 17 days, The way you phrase that, as if it was nothing. Not knowing if they would be found, or if the food would run out, or the water. Not seeing, as in total darkness.

17 days is a hell of a long time.

Try to imagine it. 17 days, and anything is possible.

Seeing as there was 33 miners altogether that were trapped below and they are all alive. The other group got out unarmed because they were near the entrance.

It was reported for 17 days they had fights, faction splits and spoke of eating the dead if they were down there for many months.

Why is everyone saying they were trapped for 17 days? I'm hearing they were trapped for 69 days from news sites. Weird :/

They were trapped for 17 days BEFORE anyone knew they were alive. 69 days in total.
