The Chilean miners rescued recently have decided to never talk about the 17 days they were trapped before being found. It's been implied that something happened during this period. My question is, what? Did they see something, or do something, or what?

You too would remain silent if you were threatened by the mole men of inner earth to never reveal the location of their inner sanctum.

Seriously though,

it is a bit odd and i had not heard this before. after thinking about it a while I really cannot come up with a plausible explanation.

I heard a little earlier on the radio. That they wanted to wait untill they were all out of the hospital. That way everyone got an equal share of the limelight.

Well living around men all day and nite no showers restroom needs, food as well. Contimplating not being saved would just about be enough for me to say exactly that I dont want to talk about it.

they must have shaved and showered while down there cause when they came up they were all clean shaven and not dirty at all...i figured that it would be the other way around....all dirty and nappy ya know...but they looked better than the rescuers....as for what they wont talk about....they were saying something about seeing the devil down there...

They're waiting to sell they're story to highest bidder.
Good luck to them.

That might not be too far from the truth.

Apparently, large veins of gold, silver and copper were found, multi-millions worth, while they were digging the rescue shaft.

Maybe they found more while they were looking for another way out?

It's fantastic they all got out ok, it's rare for everyone to be brought out alive in these situations, but what a bonus for them to have found the rich veins, as they were going to close the mine, because they thought it was empty.

Karma.

One of the men said that he saw God and the Devil and that he reached his hands out to God. Well I don't know if he physically saw them, or if it were more of a vision. Being down in that awful place would be enough for anyone to start seeing things. They should get together and write a book or do a movie or something. I'd want to do anything else besides go back to work in that mine. I'd never want to go back, I think.

Sorry, didn know they ran into one of our reptillian neighboors/brotheren down there. If it was natas they wouldnt of made it, but they did. (them actually seeing something) would of helped the OP.

makes you wonder how many actually survived, and how many were left on the 17th day.

I haven't been following this, what did they eat a fellow miner?
Now that they make it suspicious I'm interested hence that was probably the plan.
60 plus days to consider how to profit from disaster is probably that plan.

Undoubtedly this will spark numerous conspiracies about hollow earth, government tunnels, and who knows what else. They dont want to share until everyone is out of the hospital huh? Sounds like they are waiting to get their story straight before they start pulling our legs.

Oh yeah one last thing.
Did anyone else get creeped out by the original photos of them kind of just standing around in the dark?
To me it felt weird and unusual as hell. Not unusual in the sense the mine shaft collapsed but unusual in that hey ...WTF... unusual.. I don't know It just didn't feel right. Actually to be honest nothing about this whole thing seemed exactly...right, even for a wrong situation.

I'm not sure, I don't know how the registration and illegal employment is handled in Chile, If someone died from a rock on his head, well... we still don't know how that rock came there.

I can understand it is VERY difficult to focus on survival, with some "doom-crying" people as long you don't have contact with "upstairs" I saw the devil and I saw god, can easily be used in a metaphor explaining a "disagreement" in groups that survived the initial collapse of the mine.

33 men...in the perfect blackness...possibly no hope of escaping....I hear stomachs growling...Yeah I would be pretty nervous especially when I here someone slowly shuffling in my direction amidst the impenetrable darkness.

One thing is for certain...I will never be a miner for any amount of money..screw that!

Well see, there were actually 34 miners stuck in the mine.. but they ate one, not thinking they'd be saved.. perhaps they feel a bit guilty now..
