To be very frank, I think those of us here are well passed panic. Gulf residents know what's going on in their back yard & I have no illusions of the
monster we are opposing. They would sell out their Grandmothers for a buck...or a quart of oil.
Our people, who are supposed to be in charge of over seeing all of this, make a hefty salary, and who knows how much under the table. (BTW everyone of
them should be fired.) This isn't the only disaster with a bead on us. The more our socio-economic structure breaks down the more we're going to
see. And the less resources we will have to throw at it.
I understand why the oil rig employees wanted to get back to work. In a way that will to our advantage. They may be on the payroll, but they don't
want to end up like the 11 dead. IMO none of those wells should be allowed to go back into production with out
witnessed, inspections. I say
witnessed because there are enough people in the area that can understand what should & should not be red flagged.
Like us, here, the Gulf residents had to get an education on their feet. Perhaps much more then I. I trust the average soul who needs the work, but
doesn't need the chaos.
