Uhm, I live in Port Aransas. My mom and I saw that thing, thought it was a plane since we live close to the airport. I went outside to check it out because the light seemed unusual and very bright. It made no sound, and shortly afterwards a coast guard chopper began circling with their spotlights on for about 30 minutes. I'll ask around today to see if anyone else noticed this, but this is the first I have heard of the story.

did you call 911 to signal the sight or to know what it really was ?

Don't EVER do this!!!!!
911 is for EMERGENCIES. An object in the sky is not one of those, unless it is pew pewing or something.
Please! Common sense!
If you want to report it to the police, then call the police department!

Please.
That is the worst logic I have seen all day! Since 100% of the previous calls have been free of alien invasions...wait.
Never mind! I am not going to even think about this, I know how this site works. You call 911 about the space ships, I just hope that the person calling right after you about their terrible accident can get through.
THAT is all I am saying on that. As for the topic, useless without pictures. I will keep an eye on it for a few days (the thread) maybe more will come of this.

We thought it was an airplane at first. Our sighting occurred around 10pm or so., and the coast guard chopper circled for about 30 minutes or so. Wish the video and pics would get posted.

What I want to know is how the person who sighted it came to such a specific measurement. I'm pretty sure it's hard to tell the difference between 1 mile and 1.2 miles when looking up at something that big from the ground of such colossal size. And here this guy has it listed in feet! He must have had one heck of a convenient reference up there with it at the same time.
And the probe/decoy. How come these aren't ever described as simply "another small sphere with a blinking light on top?" Things always have to be some sort of wizbang time-travelling-alien-droid-from-the-bases-on-the-darkside-of-your-brain in the year 2012 or somesuch.
Come on, guy! If you seen an orb with a strange light on top of it, just say you seen an orb with a strange light on top of it!

1 mile ? You want to be thinking a whole lot bigger than that because I'm sure that 30 or 4o miles will be more realistic. No joke. I was updating my thread "event horizon" and have given up what with ridicule anyone gets who create threads regarding various topics.
I'm telling you all right now that we are all at tipping point.
ET's as so many call them are real. I however find other civilizations to be more fitting. (Eg. Mars habitants for instance)

I once heard of one that was 3 miles long. I never saw it myself, but very interesting stuff.
