Crowley finally getting ganked was a fitting end.
Since his bones were destroyed with fire, my money is on Crowley being permanently gone.
Now, interestingly enough, that would make him Hell's newest permanent resident.
Imagine all those condemned souls that Crowley double crossed hosting a welcome home party for him.

Grandpa is probably going to be on the fast track to hell as soon as the boys find him.
Damn family turn coats.

Cas cracked me up pretty bad this week. He is the perfect character for my type of dry humor.
He and Bobby could be the supernatural's answer to the odd couple.

Speaking of Bobby, I wish he would come around and help the boys.
He's got his freaking legs back.....use em!

I actually find meg very annoying and i was hoping she was going to go the same way as crowley. Hated since season 4 or 5 when she showed

What i cant figure is why less bobby and cas this season? And why more drama? I think i have a point here

Maybe not.It was way too easy.I think Crowley hid his bones poorly so Castiel would find them, burn them, kill him and sent him to Purgatory. The demons go back to hell only when they are exorcised,we can assume that when they die they go to purgatory like every other monster.
If he didn't want the bones found he could hid them in hell or somewhere with all the enochian markings so castiel or any other angel couldn't go anywhere near them.
How he is going to come back that's another story.Maybe what he is looking for in the purgatory can give him the power to leave the place when he wants or open a gate and free everything that's in there.

@RedGolem:I saw a few episodes of Joan of Arcadia. You were right.I liked the way god appears there. They could use that.

Hmmmm Maybe....Crowley allows his bones to be found so he can go to Purgatory and find some cosmic weapon hidden there. It seems elaborate, but doable. He appeared to be overextended in the super powers department, but he always has plans B, C & D in his agendas so maybe there is more Crowley in the future.

The only thing that perplexes me about this is the bones. They have to exist on this plane for him to exist on this plane. If he has no need to be topside anymore, then yes, a fast trip to Purgatory would be a means to entrance.
Has there been talk of weapons being stashed in Purgatory?

First I agree the drama is some what over the top, and I would like to see more of bobby as well as cas. That is partly why I did like this episode. I disagree with Crowley poorly hiding his bones. I think Crowley should be out of the picture as a demon. The creator can send the soul of Crowley where ever is wished including Hades.
Like Meg or don't like Meg, I think we will be seeing more of her. I don't like Meg because she killed some characters that I think would have been good for the show.

Glad you had the time to watch a little bit of Joan of Arcadia

Crowley letting himself get caught to go to purgatory seems like a plausable idea, however I cant dismiss the fact that he had a look at the start and that had to have had some significance. Also that women witht the tattoos, he said where is your father? Any ideas on who she was as that couldnt have just been in there for no reason

I still don't think Crowley let him self get caught. As to the father of the girl, who am guessing is a vampire, Crowley was probably referring to the Alpha.

She was the Djinn from the first episode of this season.

If what i said is right and Cas finding the bones was part of Crowley's plan i guess he must have a plan of leaving purgatory.Noone has ever said in the show why Crowley wants the purgatory so bad.Maybe it's weapons, maybe it's a soul, maybe every monster there(he can create a hell of an army if he manage to free them). He managed to become the king of hell after Lucifer went back to the cage, perhaps he just wants to be the king of purgatory as well.Crowley is using the chaos caused by the apocalypse to his benefit.

I also noticed that at the end they said they had the building full of monsters, Im surprised they didnt burn it down appears they just left it so far. I cant help but suspect that this episode had some significance to it, crowley just getting killed so early seems too easy, if it is the case though i reckon its bad writing personally just an attempt to make things more suspensful and action packed.

At the end of the episode Sam asked Cas to handle the situation.

I thought the episode was better than some of the past ones this season, hopefully the drama will minimize itself sooner rather than later. I want to see more Cas and Bobby as well. I like the differentiation from the guys. Meg is annoying, but it's refreshing to have a 'bad guy' that's not so new. She's been around since the pagan scarecrow episode in season one, so I doubt she'll go down easily, not after this long. Sam is technically 'smarter' without his soul, but I liked it better when he was the emotionally conscious one. I'm ready for the big time plots to simmer down. I want some good old plain jane hunting episodes, but in order to achieve that, the brothers have to reconcile at least a little. Moral of the story: writers need to lighten up a bit on the drama

The words ''family drama'' haunt me
I miss the good old days of season 1 and 2

Those words haunt me also. However, as with the first five seasons there was a larger plot line then just the brothers, so as there is a larger plot line now. I think there will always be one but just so long as they can keep the family drama at least to a minimun I think the show can still be good. For that to happen I do think Sam needs his soul back, then maby b$%&*( s!)^# the writers.

I think they may be leaving an opening for a spin off or sequel. If its profitable they will do with or with out the brothers. I can see them even doing it from a demon perspective and sexing it up. As you know supernatural has a LOT of tweeny followers (just read about one in the back of this months scifinow magazine **shudders**) and I think it is catered more now towards them. Im just waiting for them to throw a scene in with the brothers with no shirts on or something to sex it up more

Balthazar and Sam are in cahoots.
Death and Dean have their deal going on. A very interesting episode so far.
Death seems to have taken a shine to Dean. I'm not so sure if that is a good thing for Dean.

It was great seeing Bobby again, it was like old times. Too bad Sammie is acting like Dexter these days.
He REALLY doesn't want that soul back. I have to wonder if it is because he fears the soul damage or if he fears losing who he is now. I don't think the duo can last without Sam's soul because Dean is always on the verge of killing his brother.

quote of the evening
"All we are is dust in the wind...that's it?!?!? a Kansas song?"

I'm going to give this episode a 7 for being true to the show's course although not over the top.

Dean learned that messing with the "natural order" has severe consequences, a "domino effect" as Tessa called it.

It makes you wonder how horribly badly the two brothers screwed things up with all the times they cheated death. It shows how much power the demons have to mess with the natural order, every time they cut a deal, especially one that cheats death, they start a domino effect which could affect countless lives.

With the demons and angels bringing Sam & Dean back numerous times it must have screwed things up royally.

Now Death told Dean that what's going on is all about the souls and how valuable they are. It seems that is where the season is heading. Remember that even angels had gotten into the soul buying business from earlier in the season. I wonder what they are saving up for?

Maybe the souls equal the keys to the Kingdom.
Get X amount and you gain admission to the hereafter.

It's kinda of chintzy but it could be the underlying motivation for gathering souls.
I cannot see a reasonable need for keeping souls other than this unless they can be harvested for their basic energy and reused somehow.

crowley was harvesting alphas perhaps he was gathering there souls as they are worth more? Now the soul thing could lead for a battle to control purgatory. I also have a feeling that death may be hinting that this soul issue comes back to purgatory. Maybe the reason why the demons cant take over is because death controls where the souls go and maintain the natural order. What im getting at is, if the natural order is stuffed more souls would go to hell or heaven etc making one more powerful then the other and ruining the natural order which im guessing is heaven to be the controlling power? Hope this makes sense lol

First i want to say that i hate mid-season breaks and the way episodes leave us with a cliffanger. We have to wait until January 28th for the next episode.:mad
By the way next episode's title is "like a virgin")

Now that i got that off my chest....

It was a really good episode.Where to begin:
-Balthazor helps Sam,because he doesn't like Dean.Since Sam didn't manage to get Bobby's blood and create the spell(or has he),is he still in Balthazor's debt? This boy has made it a habbit to be somebody's b......(Azazel,Lucifer,Crowley, Balthazor)How will he use him?
-Death was awesome. And Dean as death, too.Death actually told him that they are a pain in his ass.
Not just the brothers, granpa,Jonh and Bobby as well.
-Sam got his soul back. Now what. The episode ended the moment that Death was trying to put it back.I have a weird feeling that for a reason he won't succeed.Maybe the whole blood thing was a a way of destroying what humanity left in him so the body will reject the soul.
-If he will not get killed in the next episode Balthazor might be a major player. He has heaven's weapons,he collects souls,he has Sam in his debt.He behaves more like a demon, than an angel. With god out of the picture,Michael in the cage and heaven on civil war maybe he will try to be some kind of king of heaven.Same way as Crowley grabbed the opportunity to become king of hell.Maybe they work together.Maybe he can bring Crowley back from purgatory.(too many maybes
)
-And the last thought i had watching the episode.Death and God are the same person.

What an episode!

Will it work? I don't know, I don't know if the wall will hold, it doesn't look like Sam finished the spell. So as far as the rules go, I don't think he is in anyones debt.

Could you imagine being Death for a day?

I think this episode set up the rest of the season's story arc, what is with the souls, why are they important, and what is their real value?

Something tells me that both Sam and Dean will be dead at the end of this season. I am not sure, but it's supposed to be the last season, and I think that both of them are going to be killed fighting whatever antagonist is really behind all the soul buying.

I agree this was a pretty good episode. Had a few twists in it. Still more drama then I would want but hopefully it will be at an end now that it looks like Sam has his soul back. I hope they will just leave the wall up, this is a chapter that I think is best left at an end.
To me death just confirmed that souls are valuable, and the spiritual beings want them. At some point I hope we will find more out as to why.
