I do not see a problem with the whole breast bit. That part of this is a joke. Now what I do have a problem with the short mini she is wearing. When Elmo runs in front of her that mini is so short it is not funny. Any shorter and Elmo would be seeing "fur". Now that should have gotten it pulled not the breast deal. And none of this is her fault. All of the blame goes to the person that picked out that out fit and the fool that came up with the idea in the first place.

urrm, yeah i can see why.

I mean, its a kids show.. you dont need women dressed like that.. its not nessecary.

allow the kids to remain kids a little while before throing cladly dressed women on their shows.

I suppose those of us who think she is dressed inappropriately considering the show she is on are the ones with a problem? She is a famous artist with a large female fan base throughout the world. What kind of message does her dress style send to very young girls when they see her dressed like this? I find it funny how people who complain about the "pressure and expectations" put on women don't have a problem with her dressing like a slut on a program designed for preschoolers. But hey, I guess the problem is inside my head...

You know I don't see any breasts in this. A little cleavage, and it seems there is push up involved. So I don't even get what the problem is. If it were a cartoon image it would be fine, but what because it's a real image you have a problem? I think the complaints here are exactly why women get treated the way they can, if you act the part to claim attention you will gain the part and get attention. It's as simple as that. For the better portion of human existence we forget humans walked around torso naked and these things didn't happen. It is only the mind set that allows for it. Change your mind, Change views, Change yourelf!

im sorry but that is way way watered down to what
perry normally is like in her vids.

i dont have kids but have friends who have and i would
not have a problem letting any kid watch that vid.
unreal talk about over reacting

now her music vids well thats a different matter.

I don't understand society's desire to make a perfectly natural and necessary thing -- breasts -- into a subject to be shamed.

Young girls have enough problems without society telling them they should be ashamed to have breasts. Young boys have enough problems without society telling them that if a girls breasts get noticed in any way, the girl is being "naughty".

I mean, women have breasts -- that is a fact of nature. Should we continue to call attention to the idea that seeing a bit of breast is a naughty thing?

Dont see the problem really.

The problem is in the parents buying children similar style clothes and letting them wear it

If the OP hadn't pointed out the issue with Katy Perry's breasts I wouldn't have noticed them. Her silly behaviour was much more obvious to me.

I know, I know, it's a kids show, adults are supposed to act stupid.

Ya know, if as a society, we weren't so hung up on the physical body and or showing it and teaching young kids about it, we'd probably have less hang-ups growing up. Kids need to learn and recognize that nature in all it's forms is glorious and to be respected.
How the hell can they ever learn that, if were not willing to do so ourselves.
Get past the stigmas folks, time to mature as a race and get beyond petty hang-ups.

Maybe the OP is just an over weight average looking women with bad skin. But seriously I've seen Disney characters dressed more provocatively than this by far. She isn't showing enough cleavage that it's in your face obvious, she looks almost normal to me. Only an adult could take something innocent and pervert it. Now if the kid hears about what happened his view of "nice lady singing with Elmo" will have been altered and perverted because of this action.

Jealous much?

Wow

I just watched the video. Where is the controversy? She looks fine, I didn't find her outfit provocative at all. C'mon people, a little bit of breast won't scar a child. You know what I want banned from TV? Horror movie commercials before 8 pm. I would much rather my child see some boobs than guns, devil worship, blood and chainsaws.

Perhaps they should ban Disney's "The Little Mermaid" [/sarcasm]:

Women have breasts. I wonder why that idea bothers some people so much.

OK, yes, there was a fair amount of cleavage showing but I really don't think there was really anything there that was so shocking it was going to traumatize the little ones. Frankly, I think parents should be WAY more concerned about this: www.apfn.org...

If you go to the above link and look under the MEDIA category you will find that the Children's Television Workshop (Sesame Street) as well as the founder of same (Cooney) are members of the Council on Foreign Relations!!!

Now, it is clearly stated on the CFR website that their "core mission" is to form a One World Government. I guarantee you this OWG would not be "of the people, by the people, and for the people" (or little children for that matter)!

I could really care less what the backstory to your whore demon avatar is. You came into this thread whining about the sexualization of women with the image of a female dressed as a streetwalker. Then it turns out you did not even look at the clip this thread is about and when you finally do, you agree with me that it was nothing to get upset over. You can go on about context and backstories all you want but your opening rant about all the poor women made to look like whores does nothing to consider context and that is what seemed so curious to me. I do not like women saying that other women only look a certain way because they are being sexualized. I like it even less when that same person's avatar looks like she should be leaning in the window of an idling car.

I do not understand what the uproar is over this clip. I do not understand what you are trying to prove either. Much less, I do not really care. Women have breasts, children know that and do not look lustfully upon them and if I want to dress like a whore it is not because I am being sexualized. K?

A) Your combining my two arguments and not looking at the context of them. The OP did not post a video link, to the video in question so I argued that yes, women are over sexualized in the media, Key word being MEDIA. Women are portrayed in magazines as skinny big breasts, nearly naked and submissive.

If you notice I was responding to a comment that women are asking for it, which is totally un-true. You were the one who started attacking my credibility due to my avatar. Which is not very good tactic coming from some one with an avatar that could be misconstrued as well. I did not need to give my own back story to my avatar but I felt that, that may help you understand my position on the matter.

B) After seeing the video I had a SEPARATE argument, that was aimed directly at the video in question which is that there is nothing wrong with it, she's not really showing off her breasts at all there is nothing big to get worked up over. The OP's statements were vague and since I did not have a video link, I could only base my arguments off the OP.

Is that clearer for you?

Really? America is that uptight about a woman's "cleavage" on television?

I think it's time for this country to put it's big boy pants on now. ....any day now.

Oh give me a break, Marilyn Monroe showed more skin than Katy Perry back in the day. You don't see anybody complaining about her now because she's considered part of that "classic" era. Oh and what about Madonna kissing Brittany Spears kissing on stage of which many children saw? There are far worse things than Katy Perry wearing a dress that doesn't have straps. Let's move on to more important topics shall we? Like the Fed trying to take over our lives through the monetary system.

I heard that back in the 70's singer/activist Buffy Ste Marie breast fed her baby on Sesame Street. I see nothing wrong with it. As for that dress, I see nothing wrong. Not like it's showing nipple.
