Your making a pathetic and unrealistic assumption, you could argue sex was connected to everything (or is it in your opinon?
)

I'm not too sure what you were trying to glean from this thread but it's obviously not worked.

I'm not too sure why you felt the need to state the same thing on my thread in three different posts. And you call me silly?

You sound insane saying the same thing over and over again.

I never made an assumption, I only postulated. Get it right, or don't bother wasting my time.

It's interesting that you have felt strongly enough to write so much about what you feel is "pathetic". If that were the case you would have stated your point and moved on. Trying to put it down only makes you look weak. Have a nice day.

I could care less about convincing you. I was only postulating from the very beginning. What is it , I wonder, that makes you think I would care about changing your mind? It doesn't matter to me what you think.

I think a bit of naivety is showing in this thread.

Let's take, "putting 'it' in the hole," as a phrase.

Intercourse consists of inserting a penis into a vagina (insert childish giggle).

A normal, erect member is not ball shaped, nor is it pigskin shaped. If you're putting the balls in during intercourse you're doin' it wrong.

Now we can assume you're referring to the act of putting something into something else as being an analogy for sex. This act occurs in places other than sports, and there is nothing in sports to make it more similar to sex than any other act of insertion.

This shows just how ridiculous and childish your argument is. Its the equivalent of giggling when you plug something in.

No, what looks weak is that whenever your presented with a counter argument you still manage to create some sort of association between a sport and sexual intercourse, maybe your not telling us something?

Not only that but when presented with valid counter arguments you either simply ignore them or address a different point in question.

You sound insane saying the same thing over and over again.

Say's the one...

sorry, but you didnt present any type of argument to try to change my opinion

as I said, I gave my perspective, that sports represent some form of connection between a viewer and a team

and as some people presented, most sports dont involve a ball and a hole ...

LIke I've said many times, it doesn't have to have a ball and a hole. It's amazing how some of you have jumped on that as if it were the only correlation I've made. Funny more than amazing, and very telling actually.

Whenever I am presented with a counterargument I come back with one of my own. That's the opposite of being weak. By all means, continue to make meaningless assertions and false accusations , and by all means continue to follow them up with a lack of logic. It will make my day to see that.
Also please continue to repeat yourself over and over again. It amuses me.

Indeed, you now have the right to assert that I'm the one who is childish after insinuating that I was either sexually starved or a nymphomaniac. You've demonstrated such mature insight with that one.
And there's no metaphorical element at all to what I'm saying is there? It's totally and completely literal, no metaphor at all.

Actually you either deliberately ignored what I was saying or you just misunderstood.

I was pointing out situations in which you cross thresholds and insert things that do not occur in sports. They disprove your theory.

There is nothing in sports that makes it any more sexual than walking through a door.

You know with your parting statement of "Have a nice day" I thought that ment you didn't want me to continue pointing the holes out in your ridiculous hypothesis but it seems that I'll have to keep on embarassing you.

Could you please explain once again, for the jury, how sports are that important and that's because of your imagined symbolic association that sport has with sexual intercourse?

You are absolutely drawing a metaphorical comparison between sports and sex. I didn't say you werent, but sports are not, in any way similar to sex except as longshot metaphor as you are using.

You have not countered any of my arguments other than the ones that said your premise is childish or my attempt at humor by calling you sexually starved.

If you can argue my other points, please do.

This is definitely an interesting take on sports, makes you think.

But then again, when you think deeper, just about ANYTHING can be made to sound sexual. Using a computer can be made to sound sexual- double-clicking the mouse, pushing buttons, inserting floppy-discs, logging on, searching the hard-drive, etc. This only proves that we have dirty imaginations and not necessarily dirty pastimes (even subliminally). Though, I could be wrong....

Interesting, but loose comparison. Sports are more similar to the competition of getting a mate, not actually doing the deed. They're like a structured method to show who is more physically / strategically dominant. You dominate a sport and chances are you'll be getting some offers for actual rather than metaphorical sex later on.

Also, unlike sports, you can totally suck at having sex and still win (if winning = procreation).

We make the sexual connections to each term used in sports, I'm pretty sure they didn't create sports or the terms as a metaphor or conspiracy, as you put it, for sexual intercourse.

It's just your perverted mind making these link.

More concisely stated, I feel the OP's postulate would have made more sense to more people.
Sport, war, sex, and any other form of competition/collaboration between two teams/individuals/nations/corporations/families/gangs or other groups of identity are expressions of duality. Duality is the illusion of separateness that allows reality to be experienced as it is, and it is everywhere. That's why it's said that one can find analogies for sex wherever one looks. It's equally true that one could find analogies for war/commerce/football/chess in all those same situations because they are all manifestations of the same fundamental illusion.

Playing has many benefits, like getting fit and it also gives me a good social life. In no way would I attribute the sport I play, to sex (Australian rules football, not that you americans know what it is, lol).

I also follow and play sports because I enjoy them, Oz. Playing gives me the same benefits as well. I do know what Aussie rules football is , though. I'm one of few Americans captivated by other cultures of the world. I have thought of Aussie rules football as one of the most badass , if not the most badass, sport on the planet for years now.
( I always thought you were cool , Oz, but knowing you play this game makes you even cooler in my mind :cool

Look, mate, it's not about why you play them consciously. My premise has to do with what sport symbolizes at the unconscious level.

I think I see what you are getting at. Those labelling this thread as childish should stop, he's not attacking or hurting anyone, he's just putting a theory forward. Half of you guys put crack pot theories up here anyway....so why's this childish?

It is a pretty badass sport, we dont wear padding, and we do hit pretty hard when there's contact. Unfortunantly I had to miss this season due to a serious shoulder injury, and it looks like next season is a no-go as well

Ah well, see the surgeon in November, and will see what he can do. He does the proffesional teams, so hopefully he can get me back into it sooner
