Wait. How are you able to read a post and the sidebar at the same time?
The sidebar covers everything on the screen, when opened (for me)
...or am I misunderstanding you?

It does not cover the screen for me, it shows up in the middle of the page, I would say it takes up about 1/3 of the page and the thread underneath can still be read and you can still scroll up and dowm and the new topic, updates etc. stays in place.

ETA: Just to clarify, the hot topics list (green) covers the whole screen, but the topics in this forum list (blue) does allow me to read and scroll and the same time. It's all good.

It will depend on the size of your open browser window. However, you should be able to close it.

It covers about 3/4 of my screen too. The words are very pixelated and hard to read also.

The "New/Top Topics" sidebar that is. The other one is much smaller.

LOL now the larger one is not pixelated anymore. I just need to wait and be patient I guess.

My post from another thread is below. The new tabs are not showing up on the right, they are showing up at the top left and leaving a big blank spot. I am using IE and Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3. (So I am told by a co-worker, I had no idea.)

Nope. On my screen those headers are at the top left with a big blank space to their right. Maybe it hasn't been formatted for all browsers yet?

Is it just me or have the avatars disappeared?
I can only see S.O.'s avatar and nobody elses.

The site is just not the same without those links down the side. The thing that pops out is way to busy looking to navigate now so I end up not even reading it all. The links down the side were one of the only ways I got around the site, and it was neat to see which thread was the most popular and so on. Seems much harder to find all that out now. A classic ats button would be awesome for those of us that would like to use ats in the old fashioned way.

I think the best thing for everyone to do here is just to wait a few weeks and see what we end up with.
Updating a live site is scary at the best of times, If you have 100000 users all jumping on everything you change immediately it's even worse.
Just give it a chance and complain later when things are established

FWIW deep linking for non-members is broken. For an example, simply logout and click this link:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Notice it works while logged in, but not otherwise.

So a quick peek at the page source shows:

< div id="postcontainer" >

< div id="posttopL"> < a name="pid9656162">

When logged in, but then uses this when logged out,

< div id="guestpost">

So the guestpost container would need to also include the anchor. Is this something that's going to be fixed? Or is this intentional?

An old, forgotten feature from the now-defunct ATS store has been returned.

Your TOOLS section of the MemberCenter now contains an option to hide the display of member avatars and backgrounds. For those on slow connections and/or small screens, this will certainly improve performance.

I was another of those very rare users of the side menu. The new side menu is user unfriendly, so I won't be using it at all.

The only place I can get threads that are updated in real time is recent posts now. Or I have to go to each individual forum and check things out. I think threads are going to get lost, and feel I am going to have to bump my threads now just to make sure they get seen. Where as before I had the sidebar to show off new threads, or find them.

Are all forums on the recent posts page?

That's not true...

In addition to the right-side pop-out in threads, the main menu provides:

ATS Live, Real Time Headlines

New Topics Firehose

Top Topics

Hot Topics

Add forums to your favorites, then go to the "new topics" section of myATS,
Then you'll only see new topics from the forums you like.

After the new changes started I was exploring the site more and I ran across a place to sign up for an ATS newsletter that says it would have the weeks best content.
Since I noticed it ( about a month ago) through the present, everytime I try to sign up for it, I get sent to a 404.
Is this something to do with my browser or is it not available yet?

Hmm. Well since I noticed it was an option, I have not been able to subscribe to it.
I just tried again and it still gives a 404 then redirects to a page like "did you mean: abovetopsecret.com?"
