But, you ARE allowing them to with cases like this. If what they are doing is wrong, then it`s wrong, or, does it go in how your morals are set for the day?

That it's "wrong" is a moral judgment. Morals are not legislated. And MY morals have absolutely nothing to do with it.

Look. Freedom of Speech protects SPEECH, not morals or emotions. It doesn't define what's "right or wrong". If you don't understand the First Amendment, do some reading about it.

The good thing is, chances are, anyone who buys this book will more than likely be put on a list somewhere. To be honest though you could more than likely find some ancient greek or roman text explaining all about having sex with children, it used to be quite the civilised thing to do!, how moral perceptions change with time eh.

The book might not be illegal but in court it would surely be damnable in front of a jury, so book or no book a pedophile will have the urge to do what they do, and I hope everyone that gets caught has this book on their shelf.

i haven't read through this entire thread, just page one and the last few posts. i find the subject matter repulsive.

who publishes this book? who prints it? who copyrights it?

who's this "mule" character who is the author of it?

sure, he has the right to free speech, no quarrells here. but in some cases my hands only know full contact sign language. my hands have the right to free speech too, right?

can i write a book entitled "1001 ways to torture and kill a child molester"?

i don't use this one often, but :
mule

EDDVmksqUoJ:forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php%3Ftopic%3D185484.0+Sunstein+psycho+child+molestatio n+manual&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=usIt took a while but this cached webpage from prisonplanet.com attributes Cass Sunstein as calling a psycho the author...etc. Use the link because google will not take you there. google just shut down this link also, i would't put too much faith in this story, political shenanigans. prisonplanet appears to be the epicenter and it is either shutting down or being shut down. Aren't conspiracies fun?

I know it's a very fine line, but there are a lot of those in the law. Blurring that line is where people get into trouble and get confused. When emotions and moral questions get mixed in with legal issues, there is bound to be some confusion.

As a victim of childhood sexual molestation, I'm the LAST person that wants to see this book out there, but my own personal experience does not even come close to outweighing the Constitution.

Very brave answer. Thank you.
I am not sure the Constitution is perfect. I think it can be improved upon.
Understand those who think otherwise, although I won't necessarily ever agree with them.

"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
Voltaire

It's a terrible thing to think that a book like that is out there but if you want freedom of speech, it has to be 100% free. You're also free to hunt the author down and kill him.

I don't want a Fahrenheit 451 on our hands. If they ban this they have to ban the Anarchists Cookbook, the Satanic Bible etc et al.

First I have to admit I have only read the opening OP.

Now, there is an easy solution to this dilemma. I don't think they should ban books, or tighten restrictions because of potential abuse. However, I think the police should have the latitude to accidentally "leak" the contact information of the people that possess these books to me. Then they can take a long coffee break and take their time answering any calls at that particular address!

If I happen to get pulled over later, and the cops find a trunk load of those particular books, they can just wink and nod and maybe reimburse me for my bullets!

Things like this don't require new laws, they just require a little bit of understanding between certain individuals and LEO's that have their hands tied from doing what they would really like to do.

I am not going to wade into the discussion, except to say getreadyalready has the right idea.

Woops, accidentally downloaded all the names of convicted pedophiles to the internet. Darn it.

Oh, and for those talking about cost of telephone calls and the like.

Anytime I want to make calls, I use Voice Over Internet services.

Plug in your mic and just dial. Works great and costs nothing to place calls. Their are services to recieve calls, but those cost money.

Here is one I have used a few times-evaphone.com...

That way I save my minutes for incoming calls. I place almost all my outgoing calls over the internet.

I have yet to find any hard evidence that this is a real event. Logic tells me that not many people are going to buy a book online then pay for ink and paper just to end up with a box of typewritten pages of rambling remembrances and fantasies of a pedophile. I get the sense that someone is trying to out a pedophile ring in the upper echelons of the Federal Government and they feel their First Amendment rights have been denied. It is an attack against Cass Sunstein, an Obama appointee. The child molestation bugaboo was used to elicit a kneejerk reaction throughout a broad spectrum pf Americans.

this can be used to good things, like, to improve protection ... I dont know

but this will probably be used for bad actions ... bad in my view, in the pedophile view, it would be a good action

We ban can this kind of 'book' (*cough choke*) it opens the floodgates to ban the other 'good' material, like manuals/books, decrying the state of Fascism in the USA and around the world, etc.

See my point?

no… this is a totally different thing. It’s not a crime to decry the state of fascism in the USA but it is a crime to rape, murder, or molest a child so writing how-to-manuals on how to commit horrible crimes should be a crime.

Honestly, why can't they ban this? Why is it not banned already? Who in their right mind would take anyone to court for banning this with the argument of it being against freedom of speech? This is retarded, no one would fight for it to not be banned.

and anyone opposed to it would simply be a child molester.

So you are saying this book is just really a peice in a chess game? In today's mixed up world that is believable. I have heard crazier things that in the end turned out to be true. This may be something to keep track of and see what happens next.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was some sort of joke written by the anons over at 4Chan or somewhere similar....even if so, it's still sickening. :/

BREAKING NEWS:

Police have a suspect in mind. Here's a sketch:

lolz

Seriously though, this isn't surprising at all that someone made the manuel...but it is amazing that it's not considered illegal considering it teaches someone how to commit illegal acts.

*shrug*

So, a concerned parent whom wants to know what the criminal mindset is thinking should go on a list somewhere...and thats a good thing?

there is never good justification on singling anyone out in America...the most common use I see for this use will not be pedos trying to figure out how to touch their niece...its about parents flipped out about this book and so purchasing it to protect their kids.

ya, lets lock up those nasty concerned parents...its a good thing.

I would fight for it if it meant anything...I would talk to my neighbors, friends, family, and everyone else, and given 3 sentences, would completely justify it.

why?

read the multitude of posts....you read a title and immediately kneejerked into a response..
Welcome to the American mindset...freedom is speech is violently protected.
