lol, good story, the whole he's now my neighbor thing was a nice touch. IDK if either you're lying about the whole thing, your "friend" is lying or it's true, but it's definitely interesting none the less. Keep us posted or if you can get your friend to come on here and give us some details.

That would make a nice short story

I often wonder how people can be so quick to debunk something a little crazy because there is No proof or just because it is someones story. What if the above story had happened to them? I do think the tunes would change.

I really dont think it is smart to rule out time travel ideas just because we dont know of a devise we may have for it now. I am pretty confident we will at some point and it will be as common as our computers in front of us.

Not saying this lovely tale is true or false, but I will Not allow myself to just rule it out as it can't possibly be, just because of either....

actually we can debunk it. time is not a straight line as we perceive.

if he were to change the timeline he would have just created another. it would be another line off of our current timeline.

we would not see it.

now if he were in a different timeline then made this one we would never know.

besides would that not create a paradox?

The time line branch off confuses me.

So if he changes something in the past, creates another time line... then how do we know "WE" are not living in that "NEW" time line?

We probably don't and won't know. Because our current present and future is playing out according to the changes made. So to us, our historical progression is rather natural.

If the story is true, I'm curious as to how this time traveling experiment is controlled.

If it is true, that means the experiment must have allowed him to come back to this new time line, instead of his own.

Or... whatever I'm lost now..

Interesting story none the less. If it's true, it's scary, makes you think. If it's just a crazy dude, then you better watch out, make sure you're safe to live around this guy.

I find it amazing that 47 years after Global Thermonuclear War, humans are able to build a time-machine and send something bigger than a lepton through it.

That fallout must be doing some really impressive things to the IQ.

I'm not sure I agree with your idea of debunking this at all. Your first premise is that time is not linear but where are you getting this? Nobody knows what time really is, we only know how we perceive it, there are countless theories on time and a great deal of which agree that time is in fact linear.

As for changing the timeline and just creating another well, we really don't know. There are two major theories out there right now, the single universe and multiverse theory. If the first was true it would mean that by traveling back in time and made a change, thus erasing the time he came from(his past) and returned to a new future, causing a paradox. The multiverse theory has many different forms, from a handful of universes to an infinite number of universes. This theory has several possibilities as to what may happen if time travel did occur. If there are only a handful of universes then when he traveled back in time and made a change he created a new universe. Then when he traveled to the future he would have either traveled to this new future(as this story would suggest) or been ripped back into his own universe the moment he made the change if he was 'locked' in his own universe. Or if there is a multiverse there is an infinite number of universes, one for each possible event that could have ever occurred.
actually we can debunk it. time is not a straight line as we perceive.

And no, we would not see it even if there was a change. Whether there is a universe or multiverse we are the result of the change, and thus have no way of knowing what happened in a previous timeline or alternate universe.

So yes, paradoxes can ensue from time travel, or they may not, depending on your theory. Or for all we know paradoxes are completely legal in the universe, where a person can go back a thousand years, kill their ancestor, and still exist. The truth is when it comes to time, we really just don't have a solid answer.

So, just curious... Where is the idea of God in all of this? If one mortal gets a 'do-over' or 'course-correction' then why not one for everybody?

Why should there not be an unlimited opportunity for 'do-over'?

The only thing I see as the result of this would be like the movie "Groundhog Day", but duplicated, triplicated, replicated ad infinitem.

suddenly everyones experience is colliding with or is at the mercy of other mortals of limited foresight, twisted perception and bad memory....

Sounds like an Alzheimer's convention!!!

No thanks, I'll go camping and wonder at the stars.... meditatively

I want to believe you.... so Ill bite
But regarding your credibility- can you elaborate further on this thread you started about Aliens and the NWO

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Aliens are NWO agents who are using advanced government technology to masquerade as extra-terrestrial entities in order to unite a subgroup of the population (i.e believers) under the auspices of centralization of behavior.

Are you an abductee? Your ex-military so where do you get your information?

Regarding this guy moving next door to you- is next door a house? or an apartment or a trailor?

A house would be a very complex and incredibly coincidental thing due to the amount of paperork, and legalities involved with buying a house. Or is he renting it?

Have you gone next door yet and talke to him about this?
You have to go next door and talk to him more- you owe that to us atleast.

No, I don't see *any* reason at all to get involved with this guy. I don't have any weird time-travel time changing fantasies that need to be fulfilled like some people here obviously do, so I'm going to veer away from talking to this guy. I honestly don't see anything good that would come out of it and I'm not going to sucker myself into being manipulate by a potential sociopath just because I found the story entertaining.

If this guy were telling the truth, I'd think if he were able to change world history, then he could stand losing a friend.

There is another possibility here. Your new friend is a psychic and he partakes in the "drink". I have had it happen to me.

I would be out drinking and suddenly something would come over me and I would walk over to a complete stranger and tell them something. I never could remember what, typically I was just a really buzzed friendly person in my mind. I do recall the sense of urgency, and there were a few times when weeks later I would find myself confronted by a total stranger asking me if I remembered them. I never could and they would tell me this crazy story how what I told them was so real and this and that; to be honest I was confused and tried to dismiss it.

Over the years while working with doing readings, by tapping into energies and thoughts, I learned how not to retain the information I was receiving. So often it would stream across and I could relay it openly but to recall it later it becomes hazy until eventually even the face of the person I read for blurs away. I am terrible with names, with dates, with addresses, and forget phone numbers. I really barely remember a person's face unless I actually had history with that person.

I used to think that people only heard what they wanted to hear and that they somehow embellished what they heard in their minds. I tested a few people and I have gotten completely different interpretations if I ask them to recall what I have spoken. I always took that part with a grain of salt.

I learned how not to drink alcohol. I learned how important it is not to lower inhibitions when the sensitivity exists to be empathic.

Your new neighbor deserves more scrutiny! He might be your newest best friend, just as he said you were once friends. Your need to hear of conspiracies may be his interpretation of your genre or "interests" based on some sort of vibration and his Story was his only way to express what came over him while in an inebriated state.

He could be a Psychic! They make the best kind of friends!

Honestly, this is a nice story, real or not.

someone on page 2 asked if the man was 40 years older than the op. I thought that was the best question that wasnt answered. Also, why not ask the guy more, it's interesting enough to stop being a sissy for while and bring it up, for the sake of the internet's curiosity

WOW ! This would make a great script for a movie. But maybe we should bring it up to date.
How about a killer robot ( in human form ) is sent back to kill the mother of an unborn child who will help humanity rise up against the Machines who have taken over the world. The child would start a movement. Maybe call them the Resistance. We'll make it that the resistance send back one of their men to protect the mother from this killer robot.
Anyone fancy putting up some £$ to fund this. Im sure we could get at least 3 or 4 movies out of this plot !!

If someone changes or changed history then that would never be even felt because then it would already be as it is today.
