I'm going to still say we can't know. People jump to conclusions too quickly.

"reasoned argument"?

Are you kidding me?

The man is TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE AND IS OUTRIGHT ATTACKED

And I should listen to your argument that the cop was justified in beating his face with a metal pole?

I HAVE TWO EYES - I CAN SEE VIDEO

You mean I really didn't see a cop walk up to a guy talking on his phone and assault him with a metal pole.

I didn't see that.

Its all just a figment of my imagination.

The cop didn't actually stop what he was doing, walk up to a guy talking on his phone, and then bash his face in with a metal pole.

That didn't actually happen.

Exactly I agree with you Jim. It doesn't make any sense what so ever he could certainly loose his job over this so why do it?

because he's a petty tyrant on a power trip?

No, mate. Because I believe in investigating incidents before passing judgement.

Its called "innocent until proven guilty" and I believe you should have a long, hard think about who is acting in a tyrannical way here.

Regards,
Jim.

I'm not saying it didn't happen but rather there could be other things going on that we don't hear or see.

What exactly is to investigate here.

A man is talking on his phone, a cop walks up to him, the man does nothing and continues talking on his phone facing away from the officer, the officer then proceeds to beat his face in with a metal pole.

Do you need like spy satellite imagery along with a CIA analysis on top of a DNA hair sample?

What exactly is to debate here?

That in some alternate universe the guy actually took a swing at the officer?

You do realize that the officer lied in his police report stating exactly that right?

Foul language, insults and even verbal threats do not justify a physical assault.

WOAH THERE BUDDY - YOU STOP RIGHT THERE

Any insulting of a God is grounds to be knocked unconscious.

The man probably committed blasphemy by telling the God he should leave his friend alone.

You just replied to your own quote.

Rosenthal, in a report to be released on Monday, labels as "pure fiction" the police report from Sparks that describes his force as justified because DeHerrera "spun to his left attempting to strike me in the face with a closed right fist."
...
He suspended Murr without pay for three days for submitting an "inaccurate report." Sparks also lost three days pay.

So the cops in question were suspended because they were obviously lying about what happened.

So we know full well the cops are liars.

Yet you are in here defending their actions?

It never ceases to amaze me that people stand up in defense of anyone employed by the State for any reason what-so-ever.

I bet the cops could be caught filming kiddie porn and people would be lined up in here to defend them saying "we just don't have all the facts"

Xiamara,

I don't think this person can be argued with. He has obviously had issues with the police in the past and will never change his mind. "Due Process" is an alien concept to this type of individual and I suggest you do as I am about to and leave this thread.

Regards,
Jim.

Yeah run away.

Bad cops don't exist.

We should never question our slave masters.

You have Stockholm syndrome.

yeah, the dude on the phone wasn't even talked to before the pansy cop blind sided him. Watch the video at the :22 mark. The cop that blasts him is on the ground with another person arresting him. (Dude on the phone isn't even looking at the cops.)

The "peace officer" gets up. walks over to the guy on the phone, another guy in a suit holds the guy on the phone and the "peace officer" blind sides the dude with a knee and right hook.

The camera man moving the camera view is what we're missing, you know when the real beat down takes place. The camera man even knew it was unjustified. Or else he would have zoomed in like he's supposed to do in case the Police Dept. needs evidence.

I mean really? all you guys that want more info should be ashamed. There is no excuse for that kind of violence.

Shocker it's in Denver...

As there is no audio we don't know what was said but the camera opperator turned away which either means he knew what was going on was wrong or he knew the cop in question had no legal right to do what he did. and was trying to cover up for him.

If a cop can beat your ass down for verbal abuse then every citezen out there should have the same right.

I am sure if I started beating on someone because of verbal abuse I would get away with it? ohh wait no thats assualt and I would get arrested.

The guy did kind of make a fist and tense up when grabbed by the cop. Most good Americans don't know to go limp when touched by a cop. I go one step further to protect myself. Everytime I see a cop, I go limp. They think I'm narcoleptic.

hahafhah "peace officer"

hahahaa

I love it.

Orwell is so proud of us today.

Men in black suits, armed to the teeth, beating slaves mercilessly for no reason.

To have peace, we must have violent brutal men lording over us.

Show me proof the guy on the phone was guilty and deserved his face smashed in?

I see a vicious attack by police officer. The video is proof of this... theirs nothing he could have been saying on the phone that justifies that.

The only people jumping to conclusions are the ones making assumptions about the phone call.

I'm getting sick of the people on ATS that will back up cops no matter what they do. I've never met someone in real life that tried to justify actions like this.. pretty sickening to know theres people out there that think its ok for police to go around harassing and assaulting people.

Your not convincing anyone that these cowards aren't criminal scum.

What the *SNIP* does it matter what the guy said? What the hell is wrong with you people?

A cop isn't allowed to just throttle people in the face for talking. Is this cop so sensitive that he needs to cause grievous harm to someone's physical well-being because he might be "offended". Is he "protecting the honor of the badge"? Is this now a mafioso organization?

I am in the damned twilight zone, yet again, on ATS.

"Oh, he said something about mah momma, Ima club him in the face which might kill him, but he insulted ma momma. Nobody insults ma mommuh."

mnemeth1... Why do you even bother to make threads? All you do is spout out how you hate authority and push your anarchy agenda. You are all talk and no listen. If someone does happen to go against what you say, you just spout out the same crap as you did before, just worded a little differently.

Grow up.

You DONT know what was being said END OF STORY. The man could have been threatening the officers or anything. YOU DONT KNOW. You think you do but you dont. Last time i checked you are held accountable for what comes out of your mouth.

I know that cops are over agressive sometimes. Ive seen it personally. Im not defending the cops or anything like that. Just pointing out your unwillingness to hold a civil conversation.

Thank you

FIRST AND FORMOST. no one forces people to become police. IT BY THEIR WILL ALONE.

with that being said. any law enforcement officer that cannot do his duty with respect for its citizens, should look for employment elsewhere, or face the same laws they are bound to uphold.

unwarranted assault, is assault. verbal assaults on law enforcement, doesn't give them any right to physically assault anyone....PERIOD

the cop needs to spend some time in jail, so he can lament on his uncontrollable urges to revenge himself on the public, he was hired to PROTECT.
