i live in Canada...Canada is very very close to the USA
USA is very very close to Israel

i dont like my gov for agreeing with the "officials stories" from the white house.
Canada have the same queen that UK have
UK are very very close to the USA

we are all on the same boat with different opinions

Ben, that we are, although I did think the UK Queen was leader of the Commonwealth rather than the Queen of Canada, but I stand to be corrected on that.

Anyway, back on the topic, if Robert Mugabe challenged Obama, or any other leader of similar stature to a debate and have a peeing party about how to solve world problems, would that also be considered a worthwhile exercise? Mugabe is still classed as president of his country. If the answer to that is yes, then where should the line - if ever - stop? And more to the point, I'm not sure America would volunteer to be the country to solve the worlds problems, even if Iran seem to be stating they themselves seem to think they are in a position to do so.

As if obama wants to show to his followers that he is a war monger.

Iran > Usa

Has anyone asked Obama if he will do it?

Any official word from the White House about this?

If this was plastered all over the news media, I bet there would be pressure from the U.S. people for him to do it, But how many places are reporting this?

That said, it's (very) funny (hilarious even) how the "Obama won't do it because he's a coward" comments don't mention that this is a poisoned political chalice - a convenient preposition. Here's why

He WILL be damned by republicans and Obama haters if he does. They WILL use it to say "Look at your brown leader, he talks with terorists" (even though evidence on Ahmedinejad actualyl BEING a terrorist is non existent) - in preparation for the next election and political point scoring. They WILL also ignore the content (again, conveniently) as I don't know of any political leader as HALF as articulate as Obama.

So he's not a coward, just afraid of being damned by his DC Mafia brethren...hows that not being a coward? Having bloated alcohol sweating empty suits belch talking points is indeed a scary proposition.

obama knows 118 nations support Irans "right" to utilize civilian nuclear technology.. they'd ALL cheer Ahmadinejad exposing the empires rhetoric as a fraudulent pile of 1/2 truths, innuendo and the type of reliable US intelligence that brought us 1 million+ dead people because of fictional WMDs.

These 118 nations are not scared of Iran.. maybe because Iran is not scary? The US and a few nations the elite can manipulate are outnumbered, "world opinion" is on Irans side, obama knows he'd lose just by showing up.

I think the fact is that the NSA wouldn't let the US president within gunshot distance of any iranian nationals. Those people will blow themselves up just to hurt someone nearby.

Its only play for the audience. They already know what to do. The deal was made in 1951,and they are doing their best to keep that deal at bay. So far so good. JFK has been one of the people who tried to inform the public about this deal, cause it contains some harsh choices for the better of men.

No - why GIVE the republicans more of a soap box more than they have?! They WILL CRITICISE HIM EITHER WAY - was my point.

EVERYONE WHO THINKS THIS IS A GOOD IDEA TELL ME THIS...

What powers do Iran have to solve the world's problems???

I mean how can they spread democracy, human rights, religious tolerance ...and, with NO green energy policy, how do they tackle climate change???

Furthermore, what about nuclear proliferation???

Your silence so far, other than to the end of showing Obama up, which wouldn't happen, is deafening. DEAFENING.

ATS has become a platform for the ignorant who think THIS is a good idea to talk rubbish.

Yes, I'm being childish, but case closed. Iran (and I don't think they are a terrorist state) can solve NOTHING. At all.

I think it is a great idea and I know just the venue - the museum in Horishima's peace park, where both leaders can see for themselves the tragic consequences of nuclear war.

I am just hearing on the radio:
Apparently the US has frozen Iranian assets in the US as another provocation to go along with the sanctions which are an act of war.
There is your answer I guess Ben
to bad...

I was wrong about Obama having a teleprompter on his trunks....
it is an Aipac....

Let me try your explanation but move it into a more accessible metaphor than the poison chalice.

There is only one person and one country with its skin in the game on this one. Yours.

I have to agree with everything you said.

I am increasingly bemused why people on these Boards hero worship people like Ahmadinejad and lap up his words like he is some saint. The fact is he is a tyrant who thinks nothing of presiding over a regime with a human rights record that is very, very poor. This man is an ego who farts out gibberish which is lapped up without question by His world audience who are so blinkered that they actually believe him.

The hypocrisy is that people on this Board “love up” people like Ahmadinejad and in the same sentence complain about the US torturing a few people. No sense of perspective considering Ahmadinejad leads a nation where torture institutionalised. In the US the abuses are rare and when discovered are subjected to intense scrutiny and legal process. In Iran abuses are part of life.

On topic. Ahmadinejad is a ranting twit. He is selling his nation short by seeking confrontation with the West at every turn. Ahmadinejad knows that his position in power depends on an enemy – the Big Satan - because it means he has the excuse to repress his fellow Iranian.

Fail for watching mainstream media. You do know what the purpose of the mainstream media is for, right? It's for telling you what to think. Not for telling you the truth.

I would just as easily slam you if you watched CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, or CBS.

"Vote red or blue, and it will screw you." I'll be laughing when the next Republican is voted into office and you are all happy and delighted, and things get even more #ed up.

Because that's exactly what has been happening since JFK, and possibly even before that. If you don't think there's a man behind the scenes controlling the media, Hollywood, and etc., you are ignorant and blind.

This is a great move by Ahmadinejad. Obama will obviously refuse, knowing that he will get his ass handed to him on a dinner plate by political talks, and then the cat will be out of the bag. This is a lose/lose with Obama. If he decides to debate, he will be completely schooled. If he refuses, he will be seen as a coward and avoiding diplomatic talks.

By the way, Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons of any kind. They only have nuclear material, which isn't even weapons-grade (90%+). I'm sure Fox News scared you into a hole and told you that Iran had nuclear weapons. If they didn't, I'm sure that they told you that they were trying to build nuclear weapons, even though they have plans to build more than a dozen nuclear power plants.

Even if they had nuclear weapons, they would never use them. It would just be a deterrant.

Look at a world map. Look at where Iran is. Remember that we are currently in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now consider this: Iran's allies are China and Russia, who would more quickly take the side of Iran than the U.S. The reason why we are taking over countries in the middle east is to set up military bases that are very close to China and Russia. It's like a giant game of chess. We have put our Queen out on table, which is supposed to be the last piece you use, to protect your King (or homeland), since the Queen can move around the most. The King would be our nuclear weapon arsenal, our last resort, which we would never win the game of Chess at, because a nuclear war would mean "game over". Similarly to why you can't win a game of Chess with your last piece, your King. If you start looking at this in a broader perspective and with a centered mind, not on the right or left, you will know that our government is screwing itself over, either ignorantly or deliberately, and it doesn't matter who is in office, Republican or Democrat.

Have a nice day. I hope this post motivates you to start questioning the validity of the supposed "news" you watch.

Let me get this straight. We have all the world powers which you guys believe are up to no good.

Then we have Ahmadinejad who believes he is qualified to argue the points on the world's problems and you guys eat his words right up...

Sounds like some of you are taking the words, "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" to heart.

i think we all know that iran doesn't have the same world capability as does china or russia or us but

the point of this debate is to expose either obama or ahmad, either way if it doesn't happen then that also shows that the us is ignoring its chances of peaceful resolution.

but i of course know that iran is a geostrategic target for the us, so i wouldn't expect much truth from either side, therefore that is why i would like to hear them 'debate'.
