Wow! Talk about believing the hype in the MSM - I didn't really expect so much of that to be here on ATS.

I am female. I'm in my 40's and I have lived in the Middle East.

I have many friends there, female and male, and the majority of women are not treat the way you claim. Believe it or not but the majority really aren't fundamentalists that want to impose their beliefs on the West. In fact, the majority are busy getting on with their lives and not the slightest bit interested in taking over the world.

You do know that muslim women, from the Middle East, get educated and are able to attend college and universities both in their country and others, including in the west? They also have careers, drive cars, meet with their friends and actually have a life. They're not kept under lock and key as you seem to be portraying.

Fair enough, some Middle Eastern countries aren't as liberal as others but you can't lump them all in together! You can't even lump all Middle Eastern women and Muslim women in together.

I'm probably wasting my time...... the hate machine has been working overtime to the point of where people are so brainwashed into thinking anything and everything from the Middle East, is bad.

OP have you ever lived in any country in the Middle East? Do you have friends from that part of the world or friends that are Muslim? Just curious where you get that stereotypical impression.

Typ in iran and women and you will see that women over there have rights and can be in public. A burka is not wished by all women so not all are wearing them.
They just seem to have fun in public.
Lets make a note. There are regions were it is not so fine to be a women. Mostly the places were puppets of the USA are in power in de ME.

Peace people.

I'm pretty sure he's asking a strawman (excuse me, strawwoman) to respond. He's arguing with someone who doesn't exist so he can claim victory.

It's a standard tactic of terrible debaters everywhere.

The longest ten minutes in recent Indonesian history.

Could it be rebellious Indonesian female hackers?

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Indonesian lawmakers and journalists got a shock when an online porn video blazed across dozens of computer monitors outside the press room at Parliament. Witnesses say it took security guards 10 minutes to shut down the computers Monday.

I feel that whether or not I support how they treat women in the middle east, it is NOT our place, or anyones' to be policing the world. I am sure we have practices that people in other countries don't approve of.

It's just not our place to tell people on the other side of the world how to live.
I support your feelings to an extent, however, do you think any other countries had any business putting a nearly seamless embargo on South Africa during aparthied?

I say yes. I also think that slavery in Yemen and other countries in Africa deserve our attention and involvement.

And I think a woman should not be stoned to death for the crime of adultery in countries that follow Sharia Law.

ETA: I don't believe that we should let women who are treated worse than livestock have to rise up alone against their oppressors that feel the female genitalia are there for men to mutilate!

Thank you for the words of wisdom, instead of the ridiculousness I see in this thread.

You are absolutely correct. Most muslims are Moderate Muslims, just like the average Christian is a moderate as well.

It's ridiculous to think that these extremist cases that we are protrayed every day in the news are the norm in these countries, it's simply untrue.

It's only portrayed that way in order to make the average person (again a moderate) become upset at Islam and it's teachings, and therefore at Muslims in general.

The propaganda campaign is working folks, heed my words.

I'm not Anti-Christian, but, I am going to have to show you a few things. You are on a ego trip from hell, so, I am going to put some of your society's (Western Ideals) greatest achievements in perspective. Hopefully this will open your mind a little, cause a bit of self-reflection, and make you respect the ideologies of others. And by the way, this is the reason why beliefs are dangerous in general. One can easily be manipulated by them.

Christianity's Greatest Downfalls:
1. Flagellation- Yep, flagellation is a long standing practice among die hard and hopelessly brainwashed Christians. These lunatics actually believe that beating their bodies into corn meal will open the pearly gates and reign down light, love, and mercy from the huge, bearded man in the sky. Its still practiced to this day. Pope John Paul 2 actually practiced this retarded ritual, probably to make amends for all of the disgusting stuff he did while on this planet.
www.cnn.com...

Communion: Well, here's a very weird and disturbing practice. This ritual is supposed to represent the eating of the body, and drinking of the blood. Should I repeat that? THE EATING OF THE BODY, AND THE DRINKING OF THE BLOOD. I'm not sure what this means for others, but, to the logical mind from an outsiders perspective, it sounds quite a bit like cannibalism. Now, this is only my opinion/observation of a longstanding christian practice, therefore, I am not going to provide any sources. But, do you REALLY think that God would approve of a simulation of such a despicable act? And, there are portions of the world where this is practiced LITERALLY (i.e sacrifices etc) So, as far as I'm concerned, this trumps any weird tenets that can be found in Islam, religiously speaking.

Now, I'm not for sure how long this has actually been occurring, but, it seems as of late, that there are high numbers of Pedophilia being reported from the Catholic, and several protestant Christian religions. I would imagine that it goes back as far as the dawn of the religion itself though.

Interestingly enough, there hasn't been a single case of such rampant abuse reported from Islam. I think this may speak volumes about Christianity verses Islam on a MORAL scale. Not to mention that those who practice Islam are quite devout verses the typical Christian who thinks that the act of merely going to church every Sunday will display a heart good enough to buy their way into heaven. The only thing is, most Christians are only good on that ONE day, for about 1 hour. After of which, they go back to their backstabbing, judgmental, dishonest form of life, breaking nearly every commandment possible while claiming to be one of God's chosen ones.

On the issue of Christian pedophilia, I could provide so many links and sources that it would literally make you vomit, but, I will spare you of this, as you should spare us of your delusional and holier than thou rant of personal righteousness. Keep in mind that the Catholic Church has long been recognized for protecting these violators, and recently, the Obama administration actually provided amnesty for guilty priests around the globe. Why are their no records of such violations from the Muslim religion? Could it be because they actually respect and love their children?
www.breitbart.com...

Now personally, I believe wholeheartedly in the Universe/God/Creator. However, my creator does not discriminate against others because of their beliefs, ideologies, geographic location, religion, color, looks, or creed. It doesn't care whether you are a communist, socialist, or a capitalist. However, I would say that if your system is one that oppresses others, no matter what this system is, it is highly unlikely that this resonates with the harmony that God had intended for us. Therefore, all of these current systems are the antithesis for the creator which resonates fully with unconditional love. Instead of looking at all of the things in the world which makes us different and divides us, maybe you should be looking at all of the things which bind, and hold us together. God created each and every one of us, therefore, I highly doubt that it would be proud, or appreciative of your judgment against another manifestation of its creation. This is specifically the reason why the, "judge not, lest ye be judged," clause was put in the bible.

You're putting yourself in the position of God right now, and those shoes are too big to be filled by the likes of you.

You better check yourself before you wriggedy wreck yourself...

Actually live there, See what you are forced to do. Not "asked" to do, "forced". God forbid you have a child, with a local father. At that point, you are theirs, simple and sweet. You are no longer a human being. You are lower than a slave. You are a woman under the laws of the Muslim religion, in a Muslim controlled country. I envite every one of you, who are bound to attack this post to move there and learn the truth. Do not guess. Do not retaliate under the pretense of something you have no idea about, just go and see.

Egypt? No.

Syria? No.

Lebanon? No.

Iraq? No. (and not under Saddam either)

Saudi Arabia? To an extent.

Iran? Not really.

The gulf states? Not at all.

But continue to revel in your ignorance.

What we have to analyse is the motive of the OP itself. Why he or she commits itself to such an act? To enlighten "us"?

Don't worry, many people in ME (which is not homogenic as you think) are aware of the oppressions, and try to change it. But now my friend, you should first try to change your bloody system, before trying to bring your "democracy" to here.

Ask this model how real the mutilation is:

Tell her she is propaganda. Tell her the surgery that she had to have to repair her body was 'propaganda'.

I am sorry, but bad things happen. They happen because of institutions that are outside of the USA sometimes, too.

Wonder how Christians would like it if we lumped them in with a group that professes Christianity? The Ku Klux Klan is a Christian group, as are most Neo-Nazi groups. So let's say that all Christians want to kill Jews and make minorities subservient.

That is where something needs to be done. They still have slavery there.
They perform the female circumcision, which is as stupid as something can be.

Beautifully stated. Star from me. It is sad to me that 6.5 billion people feel manipulated, helpless, and at the mercy of a very small percentage of people (i.e. the elite) who consistently run a gambit on the world. We are far from civilized, but, eventually, this whole charade will fall and a world void of illusion will rise.

Leave your straw man at home my friend.

You're giving me an EXTREMIST example and trying to pass it off as a common occurance, it's simply false.

I get it, and that sort of stuff angers me too, but there's no way to logically stated that ALL muslims are like this and that ALL muslim women are oppressed and in danger such as this.

That's ridiculous.

You need to look at things from a wider perspective.
