Where are all the peppered impact areas that are all over the area including on the face itself that are so prevalent in the earlier photo?

The only way it would have weathered that quickly is if there is water flowing on Mars or it was sand blasted. This is not the same area, or it is a very obviously manipulated photo.

PLEASE! take a look on the old photo from 1976. Now look at the black dots. If you look good, you will see it's a pattern, and this pattern is an film artefact and not craters. And oone of this artefacts is the left eye of the "face". This is all - End of Strory and btw. noted since 1976.

Here's the low-down and hi-rez photo with a topographically-correct overlay, which is the REAL knife in the brain of this old hoax.

At best, it's an interesting geological formation — I see an island, actually, left high and dry on an arid world as the oceans boiled off , leaving only residual moisture locked up in permafrost.

I remember when I first saw that face and pyramid.
I was so unbelievably fascinated by it.
Then I started to hear about the face just being a mountain and the angle in which the sun was hitting, blah blah.
I wanted to cry in a corner...

I still want to think it's been crafted but, I must keep an open mind.
I hope these are fake photos, I hope.

Wait, what ever happened to the pyramid they found?

I'd like to thank NASA for getting such a close and clear photo of the mountain. We have natural formations on Earth that look like they were made by humans, too.

Clearly, it is not a designed face, just an old eroded mountain.

Nice try, Hoagland.

It's just a chance combination of interesting geological formation + lighting. Why would NASA bother to doctor the new photo when the old 'face' photo has been in the public domain for years? Believers gonna believe no matter what.

The keystone of this very astute observation is Human perception.

We Humans see things that aren't really there. It happens every day to everybody... You see a cloud that looks like a fluffy bunny wabbit, or you do a double-take because a weird combination of light and shadow looks like the Madonna.

We want Humans on Mars. So we SEE Human faces on Mars. We're looking for it, and once our brains latch onto a pattern and identify it as HUMAN, well, katie bar the door.

First i have to say that is an excellent picture of you in the walmart link

Secondly its a good thing you are so up to date on RV/UMR analysis, otherwise ATS may have never seen the full figure in the picture and I for one would have assumed it was a man's face in the picture.

Does bologna work as a common food in these analysis?

That's right! It is a waste of time, effort and brain power to argue over what is rigoriously controlled by an outside force (NASA). Disallowing that pile of rubble is a face does nothing to disprove that life does, does not, or has existed on Mars. Worse than the old saying of "beating a dead horse," to rerun this old argument is to dig up a dead horse to beat.

Of course, despite what many of us think, NASA loves the controversy. It serves two purposes: to interest people in the possibilities of life elsewhere, and by extension, is good for the budget.

So the real question is, who dug up this dead horse?

it really amazes me how much we want to believe in something bigger than ourserlves no matter how outrageous. i really wanted there to be a face on mars...ever notice how everything that seems paranormal or strange always turns out to be our imagination?

So seriously guys, why are there two articles claiming a photo from 2007 is a new photo that was just released?
