IMO the OP is naive x 100.

If the world's best scientists haven't been able to harness fusion to create civilian energy in over 50 years of trying, I sincerely doubt iran can all of the sudden come up with a solution.

No, this is just another smokescreen while they attempt to enhance the distructive power of the nuclear weapons iran is developing.

Making this sort of really stupid anouncement will accomplish nothing except getting iran attacked for sure.

No I'm not naive.

Wait a tick?

You all think that if the US or any other "democratic" nation perfected Fussion energy that they would tell us?

Are you mad?

We would NEVER know, why? Cause there's no money in renewable energy silly!

And you have absolutely no proof, nor does anybody that Iran is building nuclear weapons.

Please stop stating hearsay and fear mongering as fact.

Yes.

Are you mad?

No. Realistic and pragmatic.

Patently false. Now who is stating hearsay as fact? The building of all the new infrastructure and support facilities would be an immediate economic boost. Then a limitless supply of cheap energy would create an economic boom that would likely never stop.

And you have absolutely no proof, nor does anybody that Iran is building nuclear weapons.

Would iran tell us? Experts that used to say there was no proof are now coming around to say that iran is working on nuclear weapons - and delivery systems.

Please stop stating hearsay and fear mongering as fact.

You first. Wait, just you. I'm not posting "hearsay".

Actually there are vast amounts of money in nuclear fusion as an energy source when it is finally got to work. Look at the building programme required. Something has to replace the power stations in situ at the moment and we keep being told that oil, gas and coal are BAD and we know that wind, solar and other renewables are costly and in some circumstances, pointless.

I think if any nation was seriously working on nuclear fusion they would need to develop a huge project to do so, as is seen by the attempts in Europe with JET and ITER. The science behind nuclear fusion is extraordinarily complex and difficult. No nation would be able to “do it on the quiet”.

Iran just does not have the scientific base or the advanced industrial capability to even know where to begin with nuclear fusion as an alternative energy source. How many Iranian universities churn out graduates in the required fields who can be supported by an existing network of academic and research institutions and private enterprise? Probably zero.

Iran cannot become a centre of expertise overnight. They just blabber off for domestic gain and in an attempt to make them out to be some sort of marvel, which clearly some people on these Boards actually believe! The fact is that Iran has an economy dominated by oil and gas. It is not an advanced economy.

Also, just a side note to posters who keep willing a war between US, Iran, Israel et al as if it was inevitable. It is not going to happen. Argue it out on another thread.

Regards

Please quote the article from an agency that claims that Iran is building nuclear weapons.

And not "we think" but "we know" because of "fact".

And no they would not tell us.

Do you think Big Oil and Big Electricity would allow free energy to just come up and shut them down?

Come on you've got to be kidding. The value of the dollar in your pocket is DIRECTLY tied to the the price of oil. AIPAC has total control.

Your living in a dream if you think that free energy is something "they" want us to have.

It's just like the cure for cancer, sure everybody's got one, but they certainly will never give it out.

No I dont' think that Iran will be the end all be all of free energy, I just think it's great that they are looking into the alternatives.

Cause you know they could just develop the hell out of the oil fields and become powerful that way.

I think the US is sending a message to Iran for thinking of developing their technology any further. US is looking to help out some friends. It's a shame that two wars isn't enough. I fail to see the terrorist aspect of Iran and its development of nuclear technologies that has the US so concerned.

Have you got any evidence that the US Administration is planning and preparing for a conflict against Iran?

Reliable sources and not YouTube rants?

Have you any evidence that the US is prepared to prevent other nations research and developing nuclear fusion for energy?

It's not mad.

They did it. They even made a documentary about it.

Another ATS thread with more evidence - from iran itself - that iran is working on weapons and not "peaceful energy". This one involves iranian ballistic missiles - you know, the kind that can deliver nuclear and chemical WMD's to targets thousand of miles away from iran.

ATS thread

Seriously, all these iran as Saviour of the world threads are getting to be just over the top.
