Swedish, not Iranian. And besides, most naval crews know that a simple way to defend against subs is with subs of your own. And no matter what, at the end of the day, the second that sub launches, whatever shade on the radar screen it came from is going to get blasted.

That's the one failure for stealth at sea. It is still on the radar screen, just smaller. You run out the source of the missile, Identify what is moving at velocities of a sub, and blast it. You get one good shot, maybe 2 or 3 if you are lucky. Then you're screwed. The ship hit would not sink from one strike too. So all and all, you kill maybe 20 to 50 people, but you go down with all hands.

I'm sorry but I don't have the energy to argue with you about this!

For the people who are interested in this "threat" can google themselves about Iranian underwater capabilities - there are many interesting reports out there on the net from several countries - including those reports which came from the US navy 2008 about the new superfast underwater missiles and the Iranian underwater stealth tech from Russia and North Korea.

Several other interesting reports and papers are availble from Jane's - British Navy and many others.

Have fun!

You don't have to argue. Slayer just, erm, slayed your point.

We are developing non-radar based systems of detection that pretty much make obsolete what you are talking about as innovations.

This is the problem when you are a century ahead of your enemy. They make something cool and show it off, and we just go "yea we did that about 30 years ago. We've got better stuff now".

Sigh. What can I expect from nationalism? They'd think they invented the stick and its the greatest thing in the world. We have iron. To hell with your stick.

The problem with underestimating the value of those canoes (if they are????) is as in ANY confrontation sometimes sheer number can disable a larger / stronger force.....

Don't need to look hard at history to see it .... Sherman tanks / Panthers and so on ..............

There is a limit though. That is why 30 million Indians were killed by a few hundred Spaniards. Simply put, rubber boats don't beat air craft carriers no matter how many you have.

If I've learned anything from the Left 4 Dead series, its that few guns beats no guns.

And you honestly think the US Navy isn't or wasn't aware of this? Again the US Military doesn't just sit around and wish it had a solution for such weapon systems. Remember we have the "Industrial Military Complex"

As far as the size of the Gulf are you familiar with just how large of an area it is? I know looking at it on maps or Google Earth it may seem small but in reality it's quite large. But wait there's more....

Who said anything about the US Navy having to get within the range of THEIR offensive systems in order to flatten their abilities?

The US military pays Talibans and Iraqi so that they stop fighting... I don't want to make fun or anything, but you can't really say what is going to happen.

At least we don't pay them to fight each other like Europe did in Africa.

Okey! I got that! new detection systems! - but I already knew that! that's why they hired the Swedish sub in the first place - to find a way to fight it

But what if!... there is a way to swarm a battle group with 1000 of superfast underwater torpedo missiles at once?

Google Iranian new underwater superfast torpedo missiles which can be launched from unmanned stealth underwater mobile platforms.

I don't think we'll have any problems with that many boats per ship, even if they do exist. I'm sure there is at least 1 AEGIS class ship with over the horizon capability (along with recon satellites) and they'll know well in advance if they are heading out. Besides, each helo or jet can engage multiple targets at the same time, not to mention the capabilities of the guided missile cruisers, frigates, and the remainder of each battle group. For the boats that get too close, there are plenty of 50 cal and Phalanx to go around.
I don't want to see any more wars break out, but believe me, the USN can def hold their own. I lived on an aircraft carrier for almost 2 years. Battle groups are nothing to mess with. Sending speed boats after a battlegroup is like going to a gunfight with a knife.

the Serbians downed the F117 with even older technology, and best of all wooden decoys

Not really that impressive when you consider that the F-117 was designed and engineered during the 1970s it's damned near an antique by today's standard.
They shot down a 30+ year old design. W00T!

Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk

The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is a stealth ground attack aircraft formerly operated by the United States Air Force. The F-117A's first flight was in 1981, and it achieved initial operating capability status in October 1983.[1] The F-117A was "acknowledged" and revealed to the world in November 1988.[4]

Despite its productive combat service, the F-117 was designed with late 1970s technologies

IT'S OBSOLETE. They replaced it with other planes and retired it.

Water has an upper limit of speed due to pressure and resistance. At a certain point it cannot be breached. Torpedoes are also on their way out, being replaced with missile based technology and lasers.

That's a good reason why the US stopped developing torpedo in the 60s.

But anyway, the Russians have the VA-111 Shkval is faster. And its from the 60s. Wonder if they do have anything better.

Nice that Iran decided to reach the 1960 technological range.

In regards to the video... If you anti Americans didn't notice it was our coast guard taget practicing.... cmon! The point of the drill was not to hit the boat but deter it... These threads are comical! In reading some of these posts I have come to realize people truly can't comprehend the extreme power of our military... In saying that for you people to even compare 100 Iranian boats to one of our warships is delusional. It would be a massacre worthy of the history books for Iran to even talk about that in their war room. Before they even reached for the paddle/keys to their vessels they would be getting a free express lane ticket to the promised land courtesy of the US Navy... Our country has some issues I wont debate that with you but militarily speaking we are a force obviously beyond your comprehension. Dont reply about me being blinded by American Pride BS... Its a fact deal with it! There is a reason we police the world, cause we can! If we brought all our military home and disconnected the HELP hotline The world would be in numerous WWW III's in days, think about it if you have the capability to see past your anti american pride! If there are Americans contributing to this BS do us all a favor and just pack up your trailer and leave? Its that easy! If all these other countries are so great and mighty then go....

It is the same gun with the same targeting system as every ship is equipped with. And common they tried to hit the boat every time, you can clearly see that. Don't come up with excuses.

There are even more IR videos showing the US navy messing around with two fast bats as well, and they use about 3-4 minutes to hit just one of the two. And the two boats are way inside the range of firing missiles and they keep on getting closer and closer.

That being said...

Go Iran!

Does Iran have ships sitting around our border? Nope.

Are we a dangerous theocracy? no.

When Iran fixes that, then the ships will be gone.

No, Iran is not a real democracy. They can only vote for approved candidates that obied to the supreme leader's rule. The Pope and the kings of England were no different in 1000 AD. They started the crusades. So yea, no thanks. Theocracies can bite it.

Wow!! You are serious.... You really think they were trying to hit that $350,000 rib? Hopefully the Iranian's and the Korean's are as blinded with anti American pride as you are! That would make turning those countries into litter boxes even quicker... Would you like to compare Iran's air-force to our's now? This is fun! Tell you what you get 100 of your/our f-14's to one of our F-22 raptors.... Oh wait you dont have a hundred planes working at the same time.... Sorry bout that we quit making parts for the F-14 Mavrick and Goose edition 20yrs ago..... Hope the dog-fight doesn't last too long cause one of your last refueling tanker/plane crashed on the way to the last Iranian air show a few months back..... Its hard getting parts for other country's technology when your all sanctioned up isn't it?
