Hey this isnt the military you can stand at ease,I'm not even interested in the topic but your comments make me feel like iv'e been drafted.

As I have said many times, this is how I speak if you don't like it then since you aren't interested in the topic, you don't have to read my posts.

You're right, you haven't been drafted, you can leave any time.

I don't know if that is a compliment or not.

Either way I pray you don't join the military. You spook to easily, ATS would ban you if you posted a thread every time you saw a HUMVEE.

Seen a large military convoy in Arizona today driving east on I 40, and they were all hummers, the tail had a yellow sign that simply read National Guard Convoy, I assumed it was for some kind of drill, or weekend training etc.

The odd thing was that every vehicle had what looked like a large roll of razor wire strapped to the back. I have no idea what that means, what it is for or where they were headed, I drove passed the convoy on the left, and I know I wasn't the only one who noticed, there were a lot of other people on the highway and there was chatter on CB radios about it.

It was mildly interesting, but really, who knows?

I'm in NW GA too, and we've not seen anything here, except I too have seen the weird orangy-red color you are talking about. It's been the last 3 nights - I went to bed last night and didn't see it, but 2 nights ago it was crazy. I saw it earlier tonight too.
I am in Floyd Co.

I also live in NW GA, don't know about military activity (work 3rd sleep all day) but I can attest it was a brilliant and colorful sunrise! The colors were so deep, mostly an orange hue, but amazingly different from most sunrises I see, and working 3rd I see a lot of them.

NTC still held in Daggett?

Met a great Russian Attack Heli pilot there once.. back in 95... lol, Landed his Hind right outside of Calico. Folks got freaked out when they saw this massive assault chopper landing with a bright red star on it's fussilage lmao...

The Desert is just downright hot currently, as I'm reporting from Vegas... Keep a cold one nearby gents, gonna be a hot one this summer

two words. Guard Weekend. The national guard has training one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Nobody deploys on Friday night. All is well, they are just practicing world domination.

What is it with ATS and the huge amount of "OMG weird militarty activity in my area" threads?

It seems like every week since the whole swine flu crap every time someone see's a couple of tanks or fighter jets everyone gets into doom mode.

Nothing is going to happen, no nukes are about to go off, no martial law is about to be declared, no catastrophic shutdown of the grid. It's the military...

The military don't sit on their asses all day long watching war movies, they constantly participate in war games, training, you name it. There is nothing strange about it!
You hit the nail on the head. Just run of the mill military drills. I agree that these types of threads get old but I do see why he was a bit concerned.

Back in 1993 when my mom and I were driving back to California from Missouri, we were driving through Texas(forgot which city we were near) and there were a bunch of B1 bombers taking off one right after the other. Seemed really strange, and my mom even wondered if Clinton was "pushing the button on Iraq". We turned the radio on for the next few hours so we could get the news if something happened. Of course it was just a training exercise.

Who knows....maybe had the net been mainstream in 1993 I would have logged on to a conspiracy site and said, "The B1 bombers are loaded with nukes and headed to Iraq. WE"RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!"

I then would have received a million stars and flags of adoration.....

The first family is planning more trips to the Gulf in the next month or so, and I suppose they need the extra military protection to go along with that.

I thought that's what the secret service was for?

It takes an entire army to babysit a single woman?

Blimey.

There is nothing to fear but Ignorance!

Combined commands exercises are the standard today.

This time of the year is when all National Guard and reserve components of the military train.

A lot of the training today is combined exercises with all of the fore mentioned and active duty components participating.

Different states National Guard working together to develop and comprehend the others way of doing things.

They all did not use to train together.

They even come from Guam,Hawaii,Porto Rico and Alaska to train here in the 48.

They even send units here to the above mentioned areas to train

Now they do.

The jets could have well been from a NG unit in a far away state coming to the training area to do what their trained to do and returning to their base.

I am really seeing a lot of threads like this from young people that for some reason can not comprehend how our Defense department operates.

They HAVE to train in our own country for defense of it so we are prepared when Canada attacks us!

Deny Ignorance, one member at a time.
