You have seen 2 jets only. The same two jets.
I imagine they are doing a big circle and you are in their loop.
They make their circles which accomplishes a couple of things.
1. They get to practice take offs and landings. At a place I will inform you of shortly.
and
2. They get their air time.
I am 100 percent positive that you are seeing NG pilots. They are taking off and landing in Augusta Ga at the Augusta Regional Airport. A place I was
employed at until I had to move. There I worked the ramp. Once a month, mostly on Fridays, we get 2 pilots from the NG in who were getting in their
hours. It was always the same 2. Every once in a while they would have to come in on Saturdays, but mainly on Fridays.
The reason they made the effort to come in on Fridays is because they ate lunch at this awesome restaurant called T's. T's is only open Wendsday,
Thursday and Friday.
They ate lunch, hung around a while and after I fueled them up they gave me 20 dollars a piece and took off. They would make usually about 4 landings
during the course of the day.
Its been a year and a half so I have forgotten their names. I remember one of the jets carry a colonel who is the pilot and a major as the
navigator.
If you want I can tell you what the colonel told me the first time I met him. It was my first time ground guiding a 16 and I didn't know about the
ladder the ground crew had to unhitch underneath the pilots left wing. He wasn't happy about it.
Edit to add- I have no idea where there planes are homed at. But they are GA NG.
