They called me a child pornographer

www.salon.com

I took some photos of my kids naked on a camping trip. A drugstore employee called the police -- and my family's life became a living hell.

The nanny state is just overboard. I have had some recent involvement with Social Services in the UK because of third party allegations (claiming I was alcoholic and forced my kids to drink Pimms!).

I have had my entire privacy invaded the kids interviewed and taken blood tests and the like because of an allegation from one person! All came back clear and I was vindicated but a year of drama heartache and utter despair at points.

As the story says: the one right of being a parent is the right to parent your children, to protect them etc. In this scenario on the hearsay of one person that is all removed and you are demonised and your life invaded.

It is beyond belief that this can happen and this story from a victim of a third persons intrusiveness touched a nerve. For those with kids out there your heart has to go out to the families involved in this sorry mess. For those without do you realise that this even happens?

A digital camera and ink jet printer would have prevented this.

And the authorities are obliged to follow up all and any accusations and those accusations remain on a file somewhere! Even when proven false.

Im all for protecting the kids, but a line has to be drawn somewhere and soon.

The policed state begins with conditioned citizens reporting each other.

Our society attacks the pure and praises the demonic.

Your only option these days is to walk like Donald Sutherland, in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, as if you are "one of them".

America has become the wolf in sheep's clothing and we are all to blame for letting it happen.

The article makes me sad and my heart goes out to those wrongfully accused.

It's just as bad in the US. My sister and her family were coming home from a trip and stopped at a Waffle House a half hour before closing. They were the only ones there and the staff was very angry over having to stay and wait on them. The next day my sister was visited by DCS on a child abuse allegation called in on their license tag. The whole investigation lasted just one week, but it's like having the whole family raped. All of this because some resturant staff wanted to go home early.

What an incredible story! I was engrossed from the first paragraph and read it all. What a terrible thing for a family to go through. I bet many don't make it through as well as this family did.

Very sad. And such a shame that the laws and guidelines aren't clearer for people who would report pictures of this kind... :shk:

I think its ridiculous that this is happening, but its happening more and more often.

but...

I don't see a reason to take (non-sexual) nudes of your children though.
Wait 15 minutes until they are out of the bath and dressed. The photo is just going to embarrass them when they grow up anyways.

so what if all of the sudden they get a massive spike in false calls.

if 9 out of 10 calls is not real, they will eventually adjust.

its the classic boy who cried wolf.

Wait, so you DO see a reason for taking nudes of your kids that ARE sexual? No I think I know what you meant, but hey its better that I tell you than some person who would take it seriously. Anyway, your comment about "not seeing the point" in taking nudes of your kids is irrellevant. Not to be rude but think about it. That`s like me saying, I don`t see the point in being gay, you get crap all over your schmecky. Or a better example, since being gay is supposed to be something you cant help: It`s like me saying, I don`t see the point in people protesting things they dont agree with, it never does any good anyway! :^) I would hope that even if you don`t see the point in something, as long as it does not harm anyone & it falls under the Constitution, that you would fight to the death to defend someone`s right to do it... or something to that effect.

Here's an interesting story, I once went to a friend's house.
There was a woman there changing the diapiers of her nephew.

She loved kids, I knew this everyone knew this
But her husband had a low sperm count and she had.. I think she referred to it as an "unhospitalbe womb", or something like that.

So I saw her change her nephew's diapers, and then she started to play with the little boy's....... "coin purse".

Later me and the wife had an interesting conversation, I brought that up. She said ya so what?
I said... what if it was the reverse?
What if it was a man and the baby was a girl, and the man started to play with.... a certain bodypart?

How do decide what's right and wrong here?

I'm just saying, the family in the article went through quite an ordeal and they must feel pretty uncomfortable with peers now.

But.... I don't know.
Letting your kids run around naked on camping grounds.. what if there were other people there?

Letting kids play with hot liquid metal?

I'm sure the parents are good people, but people need to think more.
Also if that was me I wouldn't let my kids run around naked as someone might be there around, also I wouldn't let the people who develop pictures see those pictures either.

What happened to this family was unfair, but perhaps a learning experience too.

Just another tool for the PTB to control us or destroy us if they feel the need to. The Hitler quotes said it all. Great story and truly sickening for all those falsely accused.

Haha! - Good luck deleting them forever! - You may take them down, but somewhere some how on some massive storage facility in some server farm... Somewhere
they will forever be there connected to your face book account and also cross referenced to anyone who ever viewed them and any FB profile of anyone even remotely connected to you...

You let anything out into the wild on the net it is out there forever. Scary right?

I lived in Branson Missiouri just before the birth of our first child.

We were speaking with the doctor when we went in once, and one of us mentioned our desire to film the birth.

We were quickly informed that we couldn't film the birth because it would be pornography.

Just more craziness.

I have heard of a story very similar to this before. Let me ask you this what if he really was a paedophile and was going to sell these photos on. Always better to be safe than sorry, so i support this action. Child protection is paramount not the rights of the father if there is any chance then the children have to be protected.

If you don’t like that view or you think I work for the Government tough, am not changing it.

Well..if you are a corporation with a friendly creaky feel-good voice doing the talking for you, and then sign off as being a 'family company'...again...the creaky feel good voice...then you can show all manner of naturalism, because if anything, there's nothing natural about what the corporation is made of. It's a lot of guilt for everything, for being alive. Their corporate 'product' makes everything 'OK', so they use as much natural footage as possible. You will feel natural if you use this product. In fact, don't give anything another thought. We are ON it. (sorry been reading monsanto threads)

But the poor OP, yeesh...what he must have been through...

In the extreme sense, the authorities are setting themselves for more power, control, even by virtue of only causing this situation, this post, these reactions, and this realization that this is now the domain of the authorities. I believe it's been happening for decades, stories just like this but not with details such as obvious innocence and legal costs, pain in thee ass factor etc.... In short, this is a form of political correctness, an oxymoron that was led in like a Trojan Horse, if only for curiosity's sake, but then spilled it's guts of hatecrime legislation et al. Censorship. Let's stamp out hate, blah blah...LET's STOP ALL RUMORS and ALL HATE by taking control of the internet! How do people really put their names to these efforts? Don't they realize that things can backlash?
