I never understood all this rich bashing. When has a poor person ever given anyone a job...EVER?! I know i've never worked for a poor person in my life. My business does however give jobs to quite a few people. You want to tax me more so i stop expanding? Maybe so i let a few people go? What's the plan exactly? The top 5% pay over half of all the taxes in this country. You want to tax them into hoarding and their wealth or worse, taking it elsewhere? Increase taxes and all you get is wealthy people figuring out how to hide their money better and wait it out. It makes perfect sense. They didn't get rich by being idiots, people.

How about we stop our imperialistic tendencies, bailouts, unnecessary wars, insane wasteful and entitlement spending so we don't need to even have this argument. Ron Paul had a plan for running this country with no income taxes. We need change, but not the kind Obama wants. We need a complete overhaul of every aspect of the way this country is run. I think the time is approaching for this to be a realistic dream.

Those of you that are in favor of the rich paying more in taxes are aware of how the "rich" (mostly corporations) raise money to pay the increased taxes, right? They raise the price of their product. A tax on the "rich" is just a politically correct way of saying the consumer gets screwed.

*Edit - that was mean

It isn't local tax. The IPOD doesn't cost $4.50 more than it does now. They don't raise the price of Butterfingers when the rich get hit with tax increases.

They didn't get rich by being honest either.
The top 5% of people would pay very little in tax. With offshore banks,
investments and even their main residence declared overseas.
They got rich by being dishonest. As long as they "seem" to be doing
the right thing they will never be looked at. And following a paper trail
across several countries would be a nightmare and which country would
get what share of the booty.

I give you, Scientology.....
Tax Fraud on a Massive scale across dozens of countries, with People
and Addresses listed that don't even exist. Authorities could spend
20 years piecing this paper trail together. And Who gets the recovered
Tax?. Not only are they not paying any Tax, but Governments around
the world are giving them MONEY.

Yes, let's reduce taxes on the poor so they can hire more employees. That's Pelosi logic.

Wait, lets raise taxes on the rich (small businesses) so they have less money, and can layoff more employees. That'll teach them.

Yeah I doubt Warren Buffet or Bill Gates pay any taxes? They probably actually get about $500.00 back with a carried over $1000.00 from sale of stock.

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS A REALITY CHECK!

as long as the network programming is still on the tv, internet websites are still accessible, movies playing in the theatres, radios broadcasting music and other media, and video games continue to ensnare the American citizens, NOONE IS GOING TO CARE!! Thats right as sad as all the issues really are and whatnot, about 99% of the population will continue to pay their dues and move along as if nothing in their daily lives has changed. Factually, not much actually will have. This includes every single individual who has responded to this thread, as well as myself.

The empire has already won guys, sorry to burst the bubble. We are now in fact ruled by mere illusions on the screens. Everyone is born into them. The lords of illusions have already been and continue to program the minds of every citizen who is born into this nation and many others with exposure to virtually ANY screen time.

Do you want to know how they rule? The richest people actually spend on average much less time interacting with an illusion (any form of media) then they do with a real human being. This solidifies their alliances and power. It is quite the opposite for anyone not directly involved with the running of the large corporation or government.

There are only two things that will break the Empire's control (it is global, not national btw, the USA is simply the military spear)
#1 is that a growing segment of the populationcs break off from the saturation of illusions(aka magic, sorcery etc.. etc..) with emphasis strictly on civil service and future policy making over several generations. Assuming a large enough population can work towards that goal, we could theoretically decentralize power significantly within 100-200 years.

#2 is that a natural event or phenomenom will occur during the reign of ruling parties that cannot be contained, repaired, or minimized that will destabalize the seamless flow of productivity that keeps the current system active, effectivley rendering any existing civilzations obsolete. In essence, the majority of fuel source can no longer be delivered, therefore the flow of energy can no longer be sustained. The supplies cannot be delivered and fiat currency is instantly useless. The fact that an evetn of that magnitude would simply kill so many people removing very specific specialists from the population would alone be in instant devastation compounded on. Soldiers do not follow orders when they can no longer protect and provide for their own families. The force with which the rulers rule dissolves.

Obviously number 1 has never historically happened, and may never happen. #2 is always what ends the global empires. It is beginning now once more. Maybe wont reach end game for another cenntury or so, but it has started.

Human civilization has already reached the current tech levels thousands of years past, and in fact surpassed it. The evidence of most it it simply dissapears due to environmental factors within the first century. What can actually endure beyond that is dissasembled by generations of non-educated illiterate and semi-skilled populations over time, very few of which are actually recodring any of their history, until nothing is left but bits and pieces of rusty and corroded objects. Objects whos physical appearance will have no meaning to anyone if it cannot be utilized as a tool or support material.

Oh Im sorry was this topic about taxes? Yes taxes will go up, but again 99% including ALL posters in this thread will move along with little change to their lives other than a dollar amount. Our options are to either become directly employed by the empire, or tough it out as every human being in the Earths past lifecycles have. Either way we WILL simply continue to be a part of it. Dont worry though, there are only a few generations left to keep it together.

Looks like they will be taxing the internet too.

Looks like that no taxes on the poor thing went out the window
in so many ways its getting hard to count them all.

New Internet Tax coming

They also have talked about a tax on pop, and tax on nicer health
plans too.

www.cbsnews.com...

www.washingtonpost.com...

And a tax on ponds.

farmwars.info...

And a head tax on Chickens, Cows, Pigs, and other things.

For the EU:

www.timesonline.co.uk...

For the US:

www.businessandmedia.org...

Got to raise those taxes to get enough money to pay for bonuses
for AIG and other bailouts for billionaire banksters.

Land of the Fee, Home of the Slave.

Good Luck to you all !

Mega-rich get taxed.

Not the end of my world and most certainly not theirs.

If the tax-breaks came with a requirement to create new jobs then that would be a different matter entirely.

I'm not saying the rich don't pay anything, just relative to what they make
is not in the same ball park as the avg person.

The Public will never know how much Gates or Buffet doesn't Pay, that's the
beauty of Privacy Laws. Gates at least puts on this high profile thing of
giving away hundreds of millions dollars every year. Is it because he just
does it for kicks or to make it look like he's a good honest joe. Maybe M$
stuff if just too over priced.

Ok, let's try this.
If I work for you pay me cash.
If I buy something from you I pay you cash.
If the government wants to use some of my cash for a good cause tell me about it and maybe I'll go with it. No problem.
Is there anything wrong with this?

Look at it this way...

If there were no poor people in the world, there would be no rich people.
Think about that the next time you use credit card, your lack of money is
making somebody more richerer.

Taking money from the Poor to give to Rich is the circle of life.
If everybody was poor or everybody was rich then that would Kaos.
As long as the Poor and Wealthy are going in opposite directions, then
everythings normal. And everything collapses when things move in the
same direction.

I dont deny that. I am just stating it for others. You can work directly for the Empire, or simply live within it at their mercy. I personally am trying to work FOR them directly as this will give me a better position to prepare myself for its collpase know what I mean?

Again I do not really care one way or the other. I cannot stop my taxes from going up. They just going to go up. But At the end of the day (or fiscal year) we all gonna be doing the same stuff in the morning.

BTW I stopped using credit cards two years ago. As hard as this may be to believe, there was a time when people did not have them. There was also a time when people traded for goods using things of real value, not paper that has the illusion of value. I guarantee there will not be a single piece of paper in the world with any value when the system breaks down. Not a Dollar or Euro or a page from the Bible or a Constitution.

You folks need to grow up. Its easy to rail against the sterotypical "rich" person who walks around with his white sweater around his neck with an ascot. That is a tiny fraction of the "rich" people. The Bushes, Cheneys, Clintons, Kennedys, and the rest are a smaller fraction of that tiny percentage, same with the banker who gets $50M a year.

The average rich person in this country is a small business owner. Some gent who started out with nothing and now has a viable business. That gent who works 15 hours a day and has 15 plumbers working at his plumbing business? He's rich. The gent who owns the local mini-market and has his entire family working the store 24/7/365? He's rich. The gent who started cutting lawns and now has a dozen crews doing landscaping? He's rich.

All of those folks worked their butts off to become rich and your saying that they did not earn that money honestly is immature.

Lets fast forward two generations. The plumbing gent's grandson now runs a nationwide chain of plumbing outfits and is worth $100M. Was his money earned dishonestly? How about if he just took a small inheritance from his grandfather and invested it wisely and is now worth $100M. Is that dishonest?

Lets also take a look at the evil banker, lawyer, business executive. When most of the folks who are crying and claiming that they are dishonest scumbags were chasing chicks around, watching TV and in general being non-productive they were studying. Working. Thats right - working. They're the folks who were not cool and got the good grades and into good colleges. They're the folks who did not party all the way through college and got into top law, business schools where they broke their butts to graduate. Oh and then, after working full tilt from the time they entered high school they got jobs where they were worked 70-80 hours a week. You don't like those guys. You never liked them. They were'nt cool. Now they have the world by the ass while you're still slogging away and bearly breaking even.

Oh, but now its not fair. Its not fair that they have more. The pretty wife and beautiful kids. The cars, the houses and vacations in exotic places. Its not fair that they fly first class and have brokers, accountants, estate managers and tax attorneys. They did not deserve it. Hell, you know they don't deserve it because you knew those guys in school and in college and they were not even close to being in the cool crowd you hung out with. All of the cool kids were out chasing girls and getting hammered and these dudes were so lame that they spent time in the library on week nights. Imagine!

Now, you're filled with self loathing from the consequences of poor decisions you made. You're not them and its killing you. You want to punish them. What you're really doing is deflecting contempt you have for yourself onto them. Self contempt and regret. Regret because you could have been in their shoes. Thats the rub. In this country anyone can be in their shoes. The fact that you're not is where all of the anger comes from

Grow up. Let the anger go and grow up.

Your forgetting just one little thing. Big business won't be paying those taxes, we will in higher prices.

How? Let me help you out. Since they have to pay their fair share they will pass the cost down to you and me. We need that DVD player. We need that tanning bed. We need big gas guzzling cars.

Don't kid yourself Chance. Your taxes are based on your need for stuff that makes you an American Exceptionlist. Glutinous greed that fills our bellies with atrocities committed against American citizens. Just look at health care, oil spills and financial ruin.

We are our own worst enemy.

Lawyers are the biggest pile of pond scum I've ever met.
I've fixed Computers for a few Lawyers, there always whinging their loosing
money. They charge $500 an hour. They use every reason in the Book as
to why they shouldn't have to pay me $200 to remove viruses from their
Computers and it could take 2-4 hours to fix all the damage caused.

All the Lawyers I know, are not actually that smart. Some can't even make
a cup coffee properly. Street smarts, None. You have to explain everything
like you are talking to 10 year old.

So not only does my one day old child have the same national debt burden as Warren, he also pays more in taxes once he becomes old enough to pay taxes.

Makes no sense to me. These aristocrats need to pay their fair share.
