The Defense Department just released its king-sized, $708 billion budget for the next fiscal year. Much of the proposed spending s fairly detailed — noting exactly how many helicopters the Pentagon plans to buy and how many troops it plans on playing. But about $56 billion goes simply to “classified programs,” or to projects known only by their code names, like “Chalk Eagle” and “Link Plumeria.” That’s the Pentagon’s black budget

Theres some additional info to think about.

This report does not surprise me in the least. We have the new healthcare program to pay for, the TARP, trillion dollar stimulus, phenomenal deficit spending, and two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. It was only a matter of time before the taxman would be knocking on the doors of everyone from large to small and walks or crawls. The only thing that surprises me is the time. I thought President Obama would play it safe and his advisers would find a way to keep these taxes from coming until after the 2012 elections?

Apparently, the free ride is over and now it is time to pay the piper? The government has finally run out of excuses to dodge the ever looming tax burden and will pass the buck onto all of us. It will be a very miserable time for everyone. People are bound to get quite agitated at this tax increase given the epidemic levels of unemployment, devaluation of assets, and other economic misfortunes caused by the recession. Maybe this will lead to the the tax revolts trend forecaster, Gerald Celente, has been talking about lately? This is a very bad time to raise taxes, but someone has got to pay for all the government entitlements, waste, and deficit spending.

You're paying more than you were. INCREASE.

But you're wrong - you will not be paying more than you were, just more than you were during the sale (TEMPORARY reduction).

You'll actually be paying the same as you were before the TEMPORARY cuts went into effect. Everyone KNEW that they were temporary so should have prepared for this to expire.

With logic like this I'm thinkin of running for Congress as a Democrat. lol.

It's just SO easy to bait people on here

You are correct, I do hate the fake Christians trying to turn us into a backward theocracy. I favor enlightenment, not regression where school boards are censoring textbooks and revising history to favor their religious concepts. You know, just this week Sharon Angle in Nevada told us she was not in favor of abortion in ANY situation, including rape and incest, because "God has a plan."

Damn right, I hate those dangerous, ignorant freaks.

So basically you support a 50% tax rate increase on the poorest of our population during this time of economic calamity?

Or did you oppose a 33% tax cut on the poorest of our population when Bush introduced it?

Words words words... they get twisted around all the time.

I agree, bottom line is that you are going to be paying more. But didn't we all expect this when we "super-sized" the money supply last year for bail-outs?

I didn't agree to those bailouts. what a waste of money.

I'll explain my economic ideology some other time.

"Like it or not it's rich people that create jobs and keep the tax system running. Killing the geese that lays the golden eggs is cutting off your nose to spite your face."

Behold the above as living, breathing proof of the stupidity of the American people and the total success of the corporate press brainwashing the sheep so much that they believe the people screwing them are in fact their saviors.

Here's a FACT for you, "rich" people do not create jobs. They never have created the majortiy of jobs and never will unless you consider personal assistants and chauffeurs. The small business owners and entrepreneurs are the job engines, and always have been.

So you go ahead and kiss the ass of the rich, fat slob at the bank who spits as you lick his heels. It is the same guy that is choking off the credit to the small business owners, you know, the REAL job creators.

I agree with you for the most part. I started up a business 4 years ago and created 8 jobs that did not exist before. However, I am not rich. In fact, most of my employees still make more than I do. yet I am a "job creator."

At some point the business will become (hopefully) much more profitable and we'll be able to grow and add more jobs. Maybe to where I can buy some property and grow some wealth. Many entrepreneurs have started this way and ended up becoming very wealthy. It is THESE "rich" people who have created jobs, but it can not be said that "rich people" in general are job creators. The ones who do the job creating are hard-working people who have taken a huge risk that has paid off for them.

Trickle down works very well actually. Unfortunately it works in the opposite fashion. Giving the super rich more money to create more jobs doesn't work. However taking more money from them in taxes causes them to search elsewhere for that lost income. Costs of goods and services now go up to ensure they don't lose a dime. Tax the rich more, it will trickle down to the middle and lower classes.

You clearly have no idea how taxes work.

Moreover no one in the lower bracket will be getting a 50% increase. Are you seriously believing that.

Honestly?

All this is is and underscoring of the lack of courage of our political leaders to take on the challenges that confront us.

I agree with everything you said except this statement. This has nothing to do with courage or lack thereof. TPTB designed this economic collapse, and everything that they do, or don't do, is for the purpose of gaining more control over the general populace through economic means as well as eliminating our civil rights. That should be obvious to everyone by now.

Just my opinion, but all the evidence seems to point to that. They are working on a system where we will all be 100% dependent on government and 100% of our paychecks will go to taxes and fees to pay for it. Eventually, because of the efficiency of government, costs to the government will exceed the tax income they collect. That will lead to the people being forced to work overtime to pay for it. Welcome to the 80-hour work week.

Actually, the poorest pay a tremendous amount.

Income taxes aren't the only taxes.

Corporations also get taxed. But when a business gets taxed, it passes the costs down to the consumer level or cuts wages, or usually a combination of both.

When a poor person wants to eat, he has to buy food with all those hidden embedded taxes charged to the guy selling the food and the entire production chain.

Then he has to pay the sales tax.

The poor person has to pay the exact same tax to eat as a rich person. With that in mind, a poor person pays a much higher percentage of their income to the government than any richer class.

Even with all the subsidies, he still pays a tremendous amount towards taxation. Then add to that the expiration of the bush tax cuts.

Why even work in the first place?

On the open, the U.S. taxation system is bad enough. But the hidden fact is that it has a regressive outcome. Not only do the poor get hurt, but the lower middle class that does not qualify for subsidies gets hurt also.

THEN

The "super-rich" which aren't really super rich but just small business owners get stuck with higher taxes, preventing them from creating more jobs, increasing the labor pool, lowering wages, which hurts the poor even more.

Read the older posts, there is plenty of linked proof and some math to go along with that.

They need to prevent earned income credit from essentialy paying people more money than they made for the year.

I have no problem when that credit brings your tax due to 0 but having increase someones income with this credit is rediculas.

When it actually turns into income rather than a refund it is stealing.

Well, as someone on another thread once said, I was never given a job by a poor person.

I have only read a page or so.

This thread has made me sad. Why are we all so obsessed over those little pieces of paper/debt??

It is obvious, for every dollar they print(err... "create"), they add more than a dollar to the national debt. They do this in ALL "western owned" countries. This is a sad fact. The "elite" brainwashed us into thinking "money" is GOD. Life and death must be decided by whether a human being has "money" or not.

As far as I am concerned, those stupid pieces of debt BELONG to the ELITE that print it. Hey, they created it. They own it. Not us. We will NEVER own "money". We cannot take it with us upon our death (unfortunately, for some of the people in this thread).

Humans come first, to me. Currency belongs to the asshats that create it..

Please wake up soon.

I agree with this 100%. Absolutely correct in my opinion. This is how I feel about the whole situation.

Again, unity of "the people" is essential in order to let "them" know that we are not going to take it anymore. Maybe people should start saying the following:
"I WILL NOT COMPLY!" Why should we comply with a government that do not care about its people? They think that they know what's best for us... All they care about is their own pockets, and their own power over the people. If we don't accept to be governed by these creeps, then there's nothing they can do about it, and their government falls. The problem is that so many are still asleep, and don't know/care about all of this. The job of the "awakened" is to start letting these people know what's really going on!

Stating "I WILL NOT COMPLY" will usually lead to you being thrown in a cage while the rest of society thinks you're a danger to them. They will appload and cheer and thank the government for protecting them from you. I WILL NOT COMPLY, meaning I refuse to pay your tax or even work for you as your slave anymore = get locked up in prison for being a bad puppy dog.

YOU WILL COMPLY! LOL!!!!!

Oh I do so love how people will take this up their ass like everything else that gets thrown at them. You wanna piss the American people off? Take away their dollar menu and american idol!
