Insult you?? Show me one insult in that post? Dling movies and CD's is illegal.. argue that fact!

How is telling someone they've never created anything of value NOT an insult?
I never said it wasn't illegal either, I said it was a poorly made law to begin with, and therefore deserves to be broken.

Stop going to the movies, you're only supporting people like this:

Mel Gibson 'in foul mouthed tirade at ex-girlfriend'

If you must see a particular movie, wait until the used rental DVDs are for sale for $3 and pass it around the neighborhood. Then everybody can watch it for a dime.

the free downloading napster is gone, yeah you got kaza and the likes, but nothing thats no where the same as the old napster, and you can bet your sweeet ass that they are watching all the others, and if you down load tons of it your on a list some where.
and besides the movie industry has way more money than the music industry, so it wont be long before the 1st court date is set.
you know the old saying money talks and bs walks, well where theres corruption it talks alot louder.

That means nothing.
What do you mean you can't go to the movies because of thieves?

Are people who download movies beating you up outside the theatre?

Mobius, I take it that before the digital revolution and we had to buy converter boxes watching free air T.V. was illegal to because we didn't pay for it? Is listening to music on the radio illegal?

Many companies, artists, ect. have found a way around this. Many music videos you know have to watch a commercial before watching them on on you tube. There is ways for the media industry to get around this, but they need to learn to appeal to people like and a million others. If I like a band enough I will support them by buying their CD's. downloading songs is just like listening to the radio for me, I find new music I like and if the band appeals to me enough to want to support them and buy the CD I will. If I really like a movie enough I will go out and by the dvd, but I will not waste my money on something I don't know if I am going to like. If I can't find it for free online to test out, I would much rather go with out.
However celebrities do not need to make millions, what they do is just not that valuable enough to garner that type of pay. We can live with out hollywoods entertainment. In fact if we did, people would be more creative find better ways to amuse themselves. There would be more critical thinking in the world.

they might as well be, in order for me take my family to the movies, it would take 60bucks plus. that means that we would have to give something up this week. all because some thieves are steeling movies, making everybody in the chain of said movie raise prices, affecting me, i say it is, and i think they are many more who agree with me than you

i still cant see why people dont like boot legs, i mean if your actually go the the theatre yourself your still around a bunch of noisey people standing up and walking around, making noise with their must have 10.00 popcorn...

now they even show comercials in the theatre... before the previews...

movies can be art.. and art should be free, now to own the original film itself that should cost money... but i mean seriously... people are still gonna boot leg films create torrents to download at will, you cannot and should not regulate the internet like this...

we're gonna start seeing Government websites being DDOS'ed and hacked like those kats in Austrailia did... anonymous...

should we fight back through the internet and shut the govenment down server by server...?

No, not all because some theives are stealing movies, do you know who charges for movie theatre tickets?

Do you know that theres been a format called DVD that people tend to use now to watch movies? It costs about 4 dollars a movie and allows you to watch movies at home at your leisure.

Oh, there's also netflix, the legal alternative to downloading movies online, that's probably accounting for some of it too.

I'm pretty sure its the theatre company that charges how much tickets cost, not the companies that produce the movies.

Well I bet that if they start shutting down these sites, people still wont go to the movies, and then those millions of dollars they thought they lost, will never come back, what they fail to realize is that a lot of people that watch movies on those sites, some actually go out an buy the movie because they liked it so much.

Id rather get some of the money that comes from piracy, then none at all, the same way people that promote their music for free, end up getting more sales later on, because more people heard their music.

I think this one is going to bite them in the end. Those actors get money because their face is seen more on those sites then at the movies, so be it, I bet it will be a matter of time before they change this one, your face being out there is what makes their salary. If Hollywood was coming out with such crap movies we wouldn't have to try before we buy.

Peace to you....

I agree with you 100%. I'm lucky if I can go see a movie at the theater once a year with my family. Yes I have to be choosy about which movie when I do go. Durill, you are right also. I just spent $55 at the theater alone today to see the last air bender, which was great and went along the cartoon storyline, but with real live acting and special effects.

Most movies I watch are from that one site that listed several sites that host the movies. Anyhow, most of the movies on these sites are poor quality. There were a couple I actually rented at the video store just to watch a better quality without having to see people get up and down out of their seats.

There is one movie I will buy when I can, but would never even have thought to rent it at the video store if I didn't see it on one of these sites first. The previews looked extremely corny, and a movie that I wouldn't like from the trailers. I was in for a corny movie that night, and it turned out to be anything but corny. I rented it, and the kids loved it, so I guess I'll be seeing the Tooth Faerie in my collection sooner or later.

It is a good way to preview a movie before renting it for the kids to watch. Even rentals are getting expensive. The movie gallery, our local movie rental place, is having a going out of business sale with everything 70% off. That says something.

The last time I was with netflix, there was a long waiting list for new releases. The movies you could download were mainly the older ones. The ones you really wouldn't even rent at a video store unless you wanted to see a movie you remembered way back when. The turn around for us was not very good.

One that was bookmarked had the fed warning on it. I went to one of the sites that actually hosted the movies. Clicked on a link that said top referrer. It took me back to the exact same site I was just at. The site worked. I forgot to look if it had a different extension though. It may have.

Anyhow, a few sites down and later on more will pop up.

Do you have like 12 people in your family or something. Try taking only 4 or 5 people at a time, that should help. 22.50 if you go to a matinee for a family of 4. Movie prices have not been inflated for years except in a handful of cities, which have nothing to do with downloading movies.

In a youtube kind of format and made so that the shows rights owners would get the advertising revenue from their own shows pages and the main site would get from the rest of the pages to pay for the hosting. I don't know how many trillion terabytes of shows that would be but it should be done asap

That would be great without commercials. That way you wouldn't have to download them. I thought the cable companies should provide a similar service. There is still something nice about sitting with the family and watching a movie though. Years ago plenty of good movies came on free right over the antenna.

I used to enjoy renting a VCR movie every now and then. They are sort of limited in selection though. I think the video rental store is still my favorite movie thing. I'd rather do that than go to the movies myself.

The problem with You tube would be lack of internet service when camping for instance.

The torrent sites never seem to have the exact movie I would like to see simply because I might rather see something I saw ten years ago than the latest and greatest thing. Some of these new actors are going to have to grow on me. All my movie heroes are getting older.

there you go and start to twist it just like everybody else that wants to justify theft.

what a dvd i didnt know you could rip data off of those, please dont try to inslut me. who pays for the stamping machine to make the dvd, who pays for the dvd bunners to make the dvd, who pays the person to set up the bunners and load them, who pays the person to put them in the jewel case, who pays for the printing of the labels, who pays for the packing of case to be sent to net flicks, i could go and on. not every thing is a lights out operation. there still is a human factor and people need to get paid.

next i wish i had links, i know that fox, mgm and others studios own threaters, and i would think it safe to say have investment in other chains too.

lets just compare it to insurance fraud, people use to say that was a crime where no one got hurt, but it cost the company, and the cost gets passed down. companies are tring to make money not lose it, so they pass the cost down the line, which in turn ends with me the movie goer

now say some thief has downloaded 50 movies, and just give it a price of say 6.50 a ticket. 50x6.50=325.00. what would a million be.325 million is that a petty number, thats not chump change. and thats just the lowest that i've seen tickets in the past year.
and i'm sure there are lots of thieves out there who have way more than 50 on their hard drive. theft is theft plain and simple. whats the value of petty theft and grand theft. whats the difference in jail time, and money when it come time to pay up.

you can try to justify it all you want it is still against the law and until said law is done away with, all those who download are thieves

at 6.50 a ticket thats 26 bucks for 4, if you added up the cost for soda popcorn, candy and gas, you use not have to worry about the cost of gas but now you got to add that in, easy 60 bucks.

if the studios didnt charge so much for the movie, threates wouldnt have o try and make up cost on the other sales they have.
theft is theft no matter how small, they own the rights to the movie not the thief.
or downloader no matter if you go and buy a cd or dvd latter, you still are a thief for downloading something you dont have rights to. you didnt make it, you didnt produce it, you have no right to take it. look up theft and thief
and see the meaningits plain and simple
