Yes, because you are both probably dis-info agents.

There is no legitimate reason or substantial threat which would require anyone to posses that power. As I said, too much power, not enough to do with it = abuse of power. The reality is, never will we need an internet kill switch, and if we ever did, you can bet flipping that kill switch will do more damage than the actual attack. You say not to spread fear, yet here you are now using scare tactics to push an agenda.

EDIT: It's unfounded fear, we don't need to be able to kill the internet at a moments notice to stop any such attacks, if they ever happened, and we certainly don't need to put that power in the hands of a man A LOT of people DO NOT TRUST. It's that simple.

It seems the only infrastructure that would continue to run with this happening would be deemed government computers. Also, if you read more about the proposal it includes regulation of Internet sites that would be classified as critical for government knowledge, meaning those sites would have to disclose any information to the government if they so asked for it. I realize they can probably get any info they'd want on anyone with accounts on the Internet as it is, but this to me is one step closer to regulation in the vein that China has over it's citizens, not exactly democratic in it's origin! I for one am very concerned at the passing of this bill, and it looks like it won't have a problem passing, it has support from both the Democratic and Republican sides. I'm going to be watching to see what happens with this.

Let me ask you this then. Suppose an internet kill switch could have prevented the catastrophe that's unfolding in the gulf, would you have turned off the internet for, lets say, a whole week?

Yeah, there would have been issues people would have had to deal with as a result of doing so, but which do you believe would have been worse? And do you think people would have used your logic and yelled at the POTUS that the catastrophe would have been worth it if it meant the internet would have remain available for that week?

Now, imagine nukes across the country, in large cities, near nuclear plants, near chemical factories, near you, hooked to the internet .. as opposed to preventing the gulf catastrophe.

Why do you believe The Queen should get the switch over Obama? I think the USA is more likely to get attacked massively than the UK right now. I still am going to have to stick with Mr. Obama unless you can convince the Queen is really a better candidate.

Many reasons, (in my own words), it will prevent people from linking together the wrong person, it will stop much dis info being spread, alot of weapons and other military technologies are linked up to the internet so it will stop that, it will also stop a major cyber terrorist threat.

LOL, dude, even your ISP has a kill switch to cut you off if they so chose to. Go ahead, send someone a death threat message using your internet connection and see how long you remain online. You better read your ISP contract/agreement, I'm certain there are kill provision within it that YOU have agreed to in order to get onto the internet and thus even they can regulate your tongue on the net.

Don't confuse peoples displeasure with this bill as being a belief it won't get passed. People Watched Congress pass the Patriot Act and then openly admit they never read the damn thing before passing it. Don't kid your self sport, people are fully aware of what Congress is capable of doing, and this is part of the reason why this site keeps gaining more and more visitors and members. This is all coming to a head, no doubt, and whether you're paid or not, I don't know, but that you are gleefully doing all you can to stir the pot and bring it to a boil sooner, should not be in doubt. You're a real piece of work.
