Wow, thread really grew. Sorry but my computer suffered after effects of a bad storm and I have been off since Friday night. Thanks everyone for your input.

I saw some other articles about the first boarding and I have to say, even with all the counter points made on this thread, Israel is right and they really don't have any other choices-that don't leave them exposed to total wipeout by their neighborially friends.

I don't think is Israel problems to find other means but rather the instigators of the publicity stuns and unlawful actions.

What Israeli did was legal!

I heard an international lawyer say so on the BBC.

And as its been pointed out, Israel had no problem with the aid being taken in over land.

It was at that point the IDF had legal authority - under international maritime law governing maritime blockades during wartime - to board the vessels and prevent the vessels from running the blockade. Yes, this action may legally be taken in international waters if those waters are recognized as part of the area under the maritime blockade. It is important to note that the action took place within the zone that was publicly known to be part of the maritime blockade of Gaza, and part of that zone is in international waters.

Recognized by whom? Is he saying that Israel can claim that part of the international waters, by just saying it falls under their bloccade?

edit: I couldn't find that qoute you posted, in the linked article. The article remains silent on the fact that the ships were in international waters.

Where did you get the qoute from?

Its sad how many people lack the ability to see this whole thing for what it is. A propaganda event staged by Anti-Israelis. These "aid workers" had multiple other options to get their aid to gaza, without breaking a blockade put in place to cut support to terrorists. I dont blame israel one bit. I find it funny the amount of people who bash israel on ATS by supporting these poor gaza people. The same terrorist supporting nation who would kidnap you and cut your throat for being western. Its sad people died, but that was the aim of the boat to start with, they wanted confrontation, they got it.

Cue the Israel haters whining....

I don't hate Israeli's, to be honest I'm indifferent on the race/religion front until people start hurting others in the name of one or the other.

There are some very simple facts about the Israel situation that the above post (and many many many others in this thread) implies lack of awareness of....

1. The 'poor gaza people' had their country taken off them by us (The British) when we had no right to do so. Yes, some people in Gaza probably would kill me/you/whoever for being Western, but that's because we took their country off them. I'd be quite pissed off if someone arbitrarily decided to give away half the UK.

2. The boat was in international waters. Regardless of the ships intent the Israeli's had no right under to board it. Boarding the ship was an illegal act, and the 'militant' relief workers on board had an inarguable right to defend it and themselves. The various members posting that it's fine because Israel decided the water was part of a naval blockade clearly don't understand international law - it was illegal, end of story.

3. Newsmax, the source in the OP, is majority owned by a former Central Bank head, a New York Post writer and a very very rich man who has donated millions to the conservatives in the US. It's common knowledge that it has a serious right-wing bias, and so articles sympathetic to Israel are unsurprising. Descibing the people on the boat as "militants" gives it away as a propaganda peice

I'm sure the truth lies somewhere inbetween the soldiers & activists stories... I could post links that give endless different accounts of what happened, and use different words to describe who/what was on the boat. Newsmax went with 'militant', the BBC went with 'activists', and I've read 'relief workers' and just plain 'people' elsewhere.

Truth is we'll never know what really happened, but the fact remains that Israel had no legal right to board the ship and has no legal right to blockade Gaza. For reasons that are apparently a lot to do with the Rothschilds + the central banking system, Israel is allowed to continue to be utter c*&!$ to the Arabs around them. If Iran had done the same thing we'd have invaded by now.

Edited because I can't spell.

"Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us."

Whether you choose to believe it or not is your own malfunction.

True enough, and I choose not to believe. Your words are not the words of a man with experience of violence - unless only at the receiving end, without a clue as to counters.

No man with that experience would fear a paintball-armed assailant when in posession of a steel pipe of his own.

No man of that experience would confuse a paintball gun with a machine gun - unless he slept through his USMC training. What sort of DI would allow that?

No, your words are hollow, and the 2 or 3 people posting here who know better, KNOW better.

Nighty Night. Sleep young one. Sleep.

Indeed. Care to compare birth certificates?

Much love to all...including the tool that just replied to me.

Keep your love. It's entirely wasted on me, and wont do good for anyone in dire straits.

Edit to add: I HAVE had some experience of violence, and carry the scars to prove the wounds you merely claim. It sure ain't anything to brag about, and I'm curious why you would feel a need to do so. No, I'm not going to detail my 'exploits' for you, and know beyond doubt that no confident man would feel any need to at all.

[edit on 2010/6/5 by nenothtu]

Like I said...sleep little one sleep.

Your opinions are contrary to all of the information that has been released and found to be accurate. Therefore, at this point, your opinion is null and void. There are too many witnesses and too much information stacked against Israel to ignore it. Must hurt...doesn't it???

Your replies are the equivalent of a 5 year old plugging his ears and saying...

"la la la, I can't hear you." The truth hurts, and its obvious you're in quite a bit of pain. And by the way, just because your life is so incredibly boring, doesn't mean that others don't live a far more interesting one than yourself.

I know, it sucks. You probably have a horribly obese wife, 2 kids that don't listen to you who sit and play video games all day and is probably failing out of the first grade, so the only action you get to see is the keyboard in front of you where you can play armchair hero to the rest of these forum crowds who might believe your delusional ranting. I guess you got to get attention somewhere.

Like I said, your belief, or lack thereof, is your own malfunction. It doesn't take away from the very real experiences I have had in the past, and it also doesn't take away from the HOT WATER that Israel currently finds itself in because of their psychotic behavior. Oh, and good quote by the way...you might want to read it yourself and put it on the refrigerator as a magnet so that you can be reminded of it daily.

Do you think your lack of belief somehow reverses history just because you choose not to accept the reality? Do you think it reverses the experiences that many have had, and will continue to have??? That's the downside of delusion isn't it, not only does it affect the way that your perceive truth (or in your case, fantasy), it also lowers the way that others perceive your choice of a "convenient reality" that exists ONLY IN YOUR OWN HEAD.

Remember to take your meds.

Much love to all...

Too much evidence stacked against Israel?

Which world are you living in? Is it this one?

There were approx 600 passengers on the Mavi Marmara.

I have not, in all my web surfing this week (alot) seen anywhere near 30 seperate witness accounts.

Let's not forget that these are 'accounts' when compared to the Aljazeera/Press.tv and IDF footage that ALL collaberate the insertion event on the Mavi Marmara.

My initial quote in the reply you cited still stands, even more strongly now.

Furthermore, you still FAIL to cite these alleged 'facts' you allude to, or any sort of 'confirmation' you also allude to. Certainly, your post goes counter to logic and experience, which tells me all I need to know about your "experience" of such matters.

Your post stands as a monument to smoke and mirrors, and a testimony to your proclivity to spin an entire argument out of unfounded assumptions.

BTW, thanks! What's left of my family, which you tried so unsuccessfully to trash with your unfounded assumptions (looks like you do that a LOT - probably how you arrived at your notions about this blockade running incident), laughed right out loud at your antics.

If you only knew.

I appreciate that, I really do, but it's not necessary. I think that post is a wonderful illustration of how an entire argument can be based on assumptions, and unfounded attack, and would prefer to let it stand as a monument to where such arguments come from.

For me, and for anyone who actually knows me, it puts everything else he has to say on the Gaza matter into an entirely new light, and I stress that it shined a lot of light on the matter.

Some of us do our homework. Others of us (um cough...Skellon) sits and does nothing whatsoever and bases everything that they know off of what mommy and daddy told them when they were young.

So, lets cut the B.S. Skellon. My information comes from not only planet earth, but, the very dimension that it takes for us to communicate this information back and forth. Maybe you're in some parallel reality where the concrete "here and now" are reversed. This stuff comes directly from the AP who supply 95% of the information to mainstream media and underground news sources. No Al Jazeera here. Nice try on the supposed "Muslim Propaganda" crap though. Unfortunately though, Al Jazeera and the Islamic faith don't own stock the AP or the 98% owned Jewish media outlets, which, is exactly where I got my INFORMATION. Where did you get yours??? FOX NEWS??? Even they have the same information that I just posted to ya.

Again, take your meds, or go back to dreamland. Sorry to have disturbed your beauty rest.

You should quit while you're behind, because this beating will only become more exponential. I haven't even brought out the fun info yet.

If you want me to continue making you look like a fool, keep up the silly responses. It will only get worse from here on out.

Some of us don't talk out of our rear ends Skellon. Some of us actually research and tell the TRUTH as opposed to plugging their ears and making up information that jives with their preconceived notions of reality. I represent the former, and you the latter.

Its very simple Isreal set up a blockade. That means you cant go through it, but they choose to do it putting Isreal in situation they probably didnt want. The boat started it bye passing the blockade. Isreal responded. They just wanted to take control of the boat or stop it. Then they start getting bashed in there heads and what would you do? the exact same thing. "fight for your life" if they just wanted to kill there would have been alot more blood

So by your logic reverse the current situation, imagine Israel was the one that had a blockade against them denying aid into their country without first going to Palestine to make sure there was no building materials or weapons.

And I will quote you

what would you do? the exact same thing. "fight for your life" if they just wanted to kill there would have been alot more blood

Guess what! Palestine is fighting for their life! They are humans just like us, they have every right to get aid and building materials after Israel leveled the strip. Take a look on Googlemaps satellite view.

I just want what everyone else wants in this world and that is Peace in the Middle east!!

I hope I see it in my lifetime, all countries governements should be making this their #1 agenda. Something has to be done with Israel and Palestine or otherwise it is just going to get worse.
