Obama Impeachment Charges

I honestly think Obama is a good man. I'm not trying to flame you or this thread but I disagree. Historically, Obama has given up on personal gain in order to help the under privileged. Of course there is no way of knowing for sure, but I am convinced that Obama is for the people. So far, I haven't seen any real evidence of the "evil obama", only angry anti-obama rhetoric, mostly based on speculation and usually lacking the objectivity that any good argument embodies.

Change is always difficult and will always be feared and resisted. Government has a proper roll and regulation is one of them.

I like the direction we are headed in.

Some of you should really stop and think about what a socialist society is, what freedom means, what kind of people created the constitution, etc. Don't take any one's word on anything. Read up on these subjects and ask yourselves what they mean to you objectively. Then, make some decisions.

No offense, but watching the news and listening to talk radio will not empower you to make intelligent unbiased decisions about your world. Only you can do that.

Don't be afraid. Look the fear in the eye and smile. It's the mystery of life Einstein spoke of.

You and I agree that Obama is doing a good job

Impeachment of Obama would be a terrible thing for the country. Impeachment would leave alive that the policys he is pushing have legitimacy and that if only for the impeachment the American people would have continued to pursue them.

Far better to let this administration slowly decline and have the weight of public opinion crush him in 2012, putting this socialist nonsense to bed for at least a decade until it comes back alive.

No one should push for impeachment its a distraction from the failure of the policy.

As Machievelli said "When your enemy is destroying themselves, stay out of the fight".

Time to simply take the high road and deal with policy differences in a positive and constructive way, the rest will happen through the normal electoral process. He's at 46% approval now, will lose his super-majority status in Congress in November and will limp like a lame duck his way to 2012 destruction and repudiation in the election.

Let's go through the "charges".

1) Complicit in the Illinois House Seat
Scandal with Blagovich, included in that
charge is Rahm Emmanuel his chief of staff.

What did Obama do in this case? The trial for Blago hasn't even started...all we know is that Blago wants him subpoenaed. The article given as a source doesn't even suggest Obama did anything wrong. Here is the only place the article mentions Obama...and it is about members of his future administration...not Obama himself.

Another possible wild card in Blagojevich's long-awaited trial that begins on Thursday is whether it will entangle Obama and his aides in Illinois' hurly-burly political theater.

The trial, which is expected to last up to four months, may expose discrepancies in how members of Obama's future administration characterized its contacts with Blagojevich after the November 2008 election.

Do you think that because members of his administration MAY have mis-characterized their contacts with Blago is an impeachable offesne for Obama?

2) Obama administration admitted using bribes
of White House positions to quell opponents
of the Obama Administration. To include offering
jobs to Andrew Romanoff and Joe Sestak to drop
political races.

Again...Obama didn't do this...it is possible some in his administration did. President Clinton is the only one that had direct talks...and Sestak is his friend and they were talking about "possibilities". A political game...sure...a crime...no. Offering someone a job isn't illegal...no where did they say "if you drop out, we will give you this job"...they talked about the possibility of a job that would require him to drop out. It's politics...and in politics that subtle difference means everything. Nothing was promised...nothing was offered...options were discussed...nothing illegal.

Do you think discussing options, not offering or bribing (no matter how many times Fox News repeats those words), is an impeachable offense when Obama wasn't even involved?

3) Obama has just instructed the Supreme Court to
circumvent law by asking the court to carve out a
special exemption for businesses who break the law
by hiring illegal aliens

There is not one thing illegal about asking the Supreme Court to look at a law and seeing if special circumstances should be considered when applying the law. That is what the Supreme Court does. Obama is working within the limits of the system...people just don't like what he is doing (some people...I like it just fine).

Do you think asking the Supreme Court to review a law is an impeachable offense?

4) Dr. Robert Weinstein, Rod Blagojevich and a host of
corruption figures in Illinois, many with ties to the
Middle East. The common denominator among all of these
corruption figures is Barack Obama. Obama has many long
time close ties to Tony Rezko and conspired with on or
more of Rezko, Levine, Weinsein and Blagojevich to rig
the IL Health Planning Facilities Board.

You can't impeach someone by the friends he has. Plus...first they would have to prove any wrong doing by any of those people...and then prove that Obama had any involvement with it. You simply can't impeach someone because you don't like his friends...and in this case most of them aren't even his "friends"...just his acquaintances. Still no proof of any wrong doing.

Do you think the actions of your "friends" is an impeachable offense?

5) Complicit in the act of killing hundreds of American
Military by continuing to support illegal wars that
were waged on a lie.

I'm so confused by this one. First you were unpatriotic if you didn't believe in the "war on terror"...and now it is Obama's illegal war. I wish he would stop all the wars in Afganistan and Iraq...but it isn't illegal. Bush started it on a lie...that doesn't implicate Obama. Once you are in something like that...it is hard to just pull out of it. I don't agree with how Obama has handled this one...but still can't impeach him just because I don't agree with it.

Do you think trying to fix a problem handed to you, and continuing a authorized "war" by congress is an impeachable offense? Has he done something illegal?

6) Non-enforcement of Immigration laws

People are deported every day...how is that non-enforcement? It is a big job...it has been an issue for a long time before Obama. It's not like he shut down ICE and the border patrol and said anyone can come in who wants to. I really don't understand this one either...he is doing as much as any president before him. That is not enough for some people and too much for some others. No crime though.

Do you think enforcing immigration laws the same as every other president and deporting people everyday...but not enough for some people is an impeachable offense?

7) Bailed out Bankers and Wall-Street to the tune
of Billions while Americans suffer in poverty with
no jobs and eating on food stamps. Yet allowed
fat bankers to take home millions in bonuses.

Actually Bush bailed out the banks and Wall Street...Obama passed the Stimulus and bailed out the auto companies. How can I take the OP serious when he doesn't even have his facts straight???

Well...this is just misinformation...but do you think Obama should be impeached because the actions of Bush ???

8) Forced Obamacare down our throats to make it
a law that ALL Americans have to purchase said
item and then bribed certain congressmen with
illegal kickbacks to get it passed.

Last time I checked...Obama didn't have a vote in congress to pass this bill. He signed a bill into law that was constitutionally passed in both the House and the Senate straight up...no reconciliation...no deem and pass...a straight up vote that passed a bill into law.

There were no "illegal" kickbacks...all the "deals" made were legitimate and pertained to the healthcare bill. Nothing illegal was done...and the deals weren't made by Obama anyway...they were made by Reid and Pelosi.

Even if they were illegal, which they weren't, how can the actions of Reid and Pelosi be used to impeach Obama???

Do you think it is an impeachable offense to sign a bill into law that was constitutionally passed by the house and senate???

9) Wasted Billions of dollars on stimulus
packages to stimulate the economy, meanwhile
the economy has only gotten worse.

The OP is just ignoring facts here. He says wasted...I say saved the economy. Tell all the road construction workers getting paid through stimulus money it was a waste...I'm sure the food they are buying their families with that money isn't considered "waste".

The economy has not gotten worse...it is recovering...every month it is getting better. And now finally jobs are coming back...slowly...but they are coming back.

So Obama helped save the economy...and we should impeach him over that?

Tell me...do you think the economy is recovering or getting worse? Either way...do you think Obama trying to help the economy is an impeachable offense?




So there you have it...I would be happy for anyone to disagree with any of my analysis of these "offenses" and show me where I am wrong.

There is a reason no one, not even the craziest of republicans like Bachman or Palin, have talked about impeachment...because they don't have ANYTHING they could even attempt to say with a straight face.

Nothing was offered or promised. Options were discussed...one of those options would of required him to drop out of the race.

So he made a naive statement in 2007 and found out that in the real world you sometimes have to play the game within the system that it is set up in.

The seizure of ownership of private business is unconstitutional. The government ownership of GM is unconstitutional. We’ve beat this horse to the ground. No need to say more.

How is Amtrak doing??? Didn't seem illegal then...did it?

5) Redistribution of Wealth

Ummmm???? Adjusting the tax code is quite legal and often done. Nothing illegal here...just more crazy ranting.

6) Health Care

Was passed legally...like it or not.

7) Interpreting the Constitution as a “living, breathing” document

Because it is.

If a debate is to be based on facts then shouldn't there be some kind of factual basis by which the original claims are made?

1. No proof of complicity in the Blago scandal and U.S. District Judge James Zagel has denied the subpoena request made by Blago's defense team. Hardly seems like evidence of wrong doing, much less a conviction of guilt.

2. I haven't seen any proof that bribes were offered to anyone. Job offers are made to prospective politicians all the time and haven't been considered impeachable offenses in the past, at least not when they are made to Republicans. I didn't hear a word when Obama offered Jud Gregg an ambassadorship while he was running for office during the '08 elections. Not a word when Ronald Reagan did the same thing for republicans!

3. If this report is true, which I have serious doubts about just because the source listed is Fox news, Then I too am against the administration's position to exempt employers from being held accountable for hiring illegals. I think there should be mandatory jail time for employers who have committed such an offense.

Even though I don't agree with the administrations approach to the offense of hiring illegals, I doubt that it is an impeachable offense.

4. This one, IMO, is total garbage just like the web site it was derived from, Citizen Wells, Please! The Tony Rezko conspiracy is very old news and I haven't seen Obama charged, much less convicted, of any wrong doing whatsoever regarding this controversy.

5. I will be willing to discuss this one after George W. Bush is convicted for starting this war based on lies. I don't believe that anyone pledged to get us out of Iraq any quicker than Obama did and he has done nothing to show that he is doing anything other than attempting to get us out of there as soon as possible.

6. If you're going to advocate for the prosecution of those who won't or don't enforce immigration laws then I would suggest that you go after the nations law enforcement officer which would be Eric Holder. I was unaware that we elected Obama as a law enforcement officer.

7. Here you must be talking about TARP which I believe was orchestrated under Bush's watch. Again, a clear demonstration of your selective amnesia when it comes to republican initiatives.

8. Nothing was forced down our throats. We elected Obama to fix health care in this country and he did the best he could considering the obstructionist position adopted by the republican party in congress. On this point, in a democracy, majority rules and you lost the election so get over it. Oh yeah, if you really want to check out "back room deals," why don't you look up "Energy Task Force" in wikipedia. Again, not a word of impeachment when Bush created it after two weeks in office, appointed Cheney as it's chair and then claimed "Executive Privilege" with regard to FOIA request regarding the secret workings of said task force.

9. Our economy was in a nose dive since mid 2007 and every economic indicator predicted total economic collapse and possible depression. Most of this was avoided due to the stimulus package and Obama has reversed the downward economic spiral that we were in. Our economy may not be good but it's definitely not getting worse, talk about working with facts, Geeze!

10. Now this one is just too stupid to address. If you're still hung up on his birth certificate all I can say is that you might want to also consider growing a brain.

That's about as close to the facts as I can get considering that the thread contained no facts to begin with.
