Obama tells military: prepare for North Korea aggression

if it does happen we might as well go into the Veitnam again and get it right this time, then we should take Iran about 18 hours into this new campaign, with all the ground work we have laid in Kuwait, Iraq, & Afghanistan...

the whole operation if done right, unbeknownst to the Media before they delay the mission just to get coverage.... should take a week probably less.... our airforce alone should be able to handle something like this.... in the alotted time suggested...

then we can bring all American's home from those parts of the world... N. Korea will stablize on its own... we'll have hit Korea and Vietnam twice to finalize our wins... Desert Stroms will have hit twice... Finalized, the Nations will stablaize on thier own (Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan)...

and we walk away before China and Russia, stating a public apology at the U.N. with an " I plead the 2nd" on memorial day...

i agree. vietnam is dying for round two, they've been bored after countless war for about a millennium. they need some warm bodies to train their soldiers so come right on over. about every able body men and women in the country is a capable fighter that need some booties to practice on.

they said they'll give us a head start, some land to set up our bases and let us bomb the hell out of them before they start. lol

Canada imposes sanctions on North Korea over Yellow Sea incident

CBC quoted the Canadian prime minister as saying sanctions would include enhanced restrictions on trade, investment and other bilateral relations with North Korea.

Besides this, high-level visits to Canada by North Korean officials will be suspended, Harper said.

My guess would not be US ships or the south, but Japanese cities. From a briefing way back (military 25+ yrs ago) Kim hates Japan for WW2 and before. His daddy had threatened to destroy Japan as well.

Alot of people are talking about the use of nuclear weapons, and how the United States would be relatively free from attack.

I hate to break it to you, but the United States is a one bomb country. in fact, almost all countries are one bomb countries.

A report that was released in the same week as the 9/11 report (hence not getting any attention) released the details of this.

If you detonated a nuclear weapon at altitude, it wouldn't kill many, if any people straight away. What it would do is send out an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that would wipe out every electronic device almost instantaneously within line of sight of the explosion. release it high enough in the atmosphere, and you would wipe out from the East coast to the West coast.

Its probably a little impractical to detonate it at such altitude, so a good estimate would be that you would attack mainly the East coast, taking out about 80% of the populations technology.
Meaning you would have no electricity.
Water pumping stations would be out - no water.
Gas stations couldn't pump fuel for your cars.
Sewerage treatment would stop, your food supply would soon end - no refridgerators, or fuel for trucks to move food to the stores etc
Hospitals would loose out as much as anyone, and when backup power supplies run out of fuel, they would be of no help.

To put it simply, if a Nuclear weapon was detonated at altitude over the United States, the country would be sent back to the beginning of the 19th century, and it could takes months, or even years to fix.

Nobody wins in a Nuclear War.

And you and our friend there are missing the point that the world lived and thrived alone without the US for about 1600/1700 years AD (not even counting BC) and "most nations on earth" already existed and had today's defined borders, culture, habits, trades, commerce, resources, long before the name "America" was even invented... so as a young nation, quit the arrogance and show some respect for your elders for they lived without the US before, and can do it again. Actually "most nations on earth" have more time "Before US" than "After-US"... some actually the US made us the favor of destroying them btw. The very cradle of civilization was defiled by the "American Police" if you care about history anyway...

Well, its been fun guys!

To the poster to one of my replies earlier, I've never read a tom clancy novel, though I know of games based on them. And I never played those either. But as was said before, it was my "ficticious" speel on current things. I had fun. And I do know we have a voluntary military, I volunteered once.

In my scant 31yrs on this rock(unless reincarnation is real and thats for another forum, lol) I've been increasingly curious about where the average man is being herded towards, by average powerbrokers. We are either in truly interesting times, or "move along people, there's nothing to see here"

Just to clarify, Reuters now states Kim Jong has told NK to be ready for combat only if the south attacks first. There's no way the South will ignite this. So, this looks to be going nowhere after all. Unsurprising that the cowards in NK didn't go for it as they said they would. There was likely a fair amount of Chinese influence behind that decision too.

The only risk of war now is if NK accuses SK of something just as an excuse to "defend itself" or if NK purposely crosses the 38th parallel, SK defends itself, and NK uses this as an excuse for war. I doubt any of that will happen, though.
