The thing that keeps nagging at me as far as UFO/ET disclosure goes is; What if there's really nothing to disclose?

Don't get me wrong, it would be great to see full disclosure regarding UFOs and extraterrestrials (as they are purported to exist) regardless of the source, government of otherwise.

It just seems at times that the UFO/alien scenario makes too perfect a cover for keeping technological secrets by both government and industry. Also, there have been so many hoaxes, red herrings, charlatans and so much disinformation that at this point (my opinion anyway), nothing short of absolute proof would be required when disclosing the true nature of UFOs & extra terrestrials whether by governments or any other source.

It would be nice to be wrong on this and that overwhelming evidence is someday presented to prove once and for all that extraterrestrials have come to Earth and have made contact with humanity.

This has been discussed here many times before, and the answers are as varied as the number of members here at ATS, although I have not seen them summarized here yet in one liners which would be good if someone can remember them all. One example for me would be:

Didn't see the film, but a quick review on the net shows it was a film
with themes of xenophobia and social segregation. Don't see how that
applies to this discussion on how disclosure would be presented, but definitely interested in your comparison to determine if a dvd puchase
is worthwhile.

Ah, the million dollar question as to what will constitute absolute proof?

The simple answer is the presentation of a living, speaking specimen....

The craft could simply be explained as our own advanced tech.
A dead alien could be thought of as special effects....

But a living, speaking alien, would pretty much do it for most folks (assuming said alien doesn't fit the physical dimensions of a guy inside a costume...(then it would take the combination of the being AND the craft, to prove the point to even the most ardent skeptic....

Have a respected reporter and camera guy go up in the craft with the aliens, shoot the scene out the window, maybe hop to another planet...and bam, would be pretty hard to dismiss the claim.

Or if "they" take their fancy crafts and do a flyby in slomo all over the
planet IN DAYLIGHT..

But that would prob be a MASS HALUSINATION

Why will there ever be disclosure from TPTB?

There are just way too many problems with disclosure, I don't understand why it would ever happen.

IMO - Obamas speech will almost certainly start with something like this:

American Citizens today is new day, the universe we live in has just become smaller at (time) we (seti) received a signal from the stars, our best scientists have been working with this signal for the past (time frame) and I can tell you now that we believe that this signal has been sent by another civilisation like ourselves and this day (says date) will be a turning point for humanity. We the american people will not be afraid by the changes upon us all ,we will deal with it like true amercians, we will come together as a united country and embrace our NEW WORLD (order) ......................(Blue beam is then implemented and the world stands still for a few minutes)

Well when disclosure does happen it will not be with the United States.Disclosure must occure without any interferance from the United States goverment.The United States will stop at nothing at trying to interfear or stopping a event like this.Thats why it will be firstly occuring out side the United States.The media buildup before this event will be massing involving all media outlets in many different languages.The United States goverment and even its media will try to dissolve all this into a fake disclosure event with humans acting as aliens.If the media coverage is large enough and vast enough and the aliens demostrate some amasing things, i cannot see the media in the United States pushing this one under the carpet.

Today came news of the first synthetic life form.

Would even a "living alien" be proof enough? In a few years we'll probably be able to design and grow one of our own in a laboratory.
