Its an old thread but alot of the advice is still relevant
1) Learn the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance This model is usually applied to terminally ill patients but
everybody goes thought it. As the support system you also will experience it. Its not linear and you can go back and forth. But knowing about helps
with understanding and coping
2) Elderly people are set in their ways and you are not going to change that so work with and around them
3) Its great to switch to organics, BUT during treatment its whatever she want to eat when she can. If she want the crappiest GMO fake cheese nachos,
Id say go with it
4) Use the herbal stuff as an adjunct to other regimes. Ginger is great for nausea but you know whats greater? Zofran aka Odansteron.
5) you guys are a team and treat it as such. Watch out for each other health and well being as well.
6) Become Nazi's about hand washing. If you do not see the doctor or nurse wash their hands when they come into the room make them. Infections are the
the biggest killer here. Also anybody sick and I mean anybody that has the slightest symptoms are persona non grata. Not welcome to be anywhere near
her. In fact if she goes out wash her hands alot and have her wear a mask.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!
