I'm with you Oz. The sheer ignorance of some people amazes me.

I suppose we should expect this geography failure from Americans though, many of them seem to think their country is the only one on the planet. One example: they refer to their baseball championship as "the World Series" yet no other country competes in that league! They refer to themselves as "World Champions" whenever a team wins their version of a premiership, again, when their country is the only one involved.

Then you have those intellectually challenged people who think our population is made up of mostly indigenous people - Aboriginals, when in actual fact their population is small (listen to Richard Hoagland on Coast to Coast for proof of this ignorance), some also question whether we actually have electricity and think we have Kangaroos skipping down our main roads, lol. (They've been watching too much Crocodile Dundee I think.)

If these people gave a # and bothered to pay attention for once they'd soon realise how wrong they are.

This type of self-centred ignorance really annoys me.

This whole site is out of control and this whole thread should be removed. Seriously, somebody posts something that you disagree with, so a whole new thread is written to flame them and call them stupid.

Let's step back for a second and look at the initial argument. They remember something differently than how the history books show as well as most other people's memories. Call it a time line shift, call it merging dimensions, call it memories of alternate realities, the name isn't important really, the point is that there is no proof at this time other than their word, and possibly other's that have similar memories.

Now the rebuttal, and it's pretty much the only rebuttal you have. You don't remember it that way...... So.......................... they must be stupid, as well as 95% of outsiders to your corner of the globe?

You are verbally bullying this person simply because YOU are missing the purpose of their original post. ATS is the Mecca of strange. Coming here we meet others that match our brand of strange. The OP in that thread was reaching out looking for answers and you instantly label them as uneducated. You have a valid point towards the OP, that is you have lived there and have no memory of any land shifts or alternate map arrangements. Post that and let it be, or ignore it all together. The argument starts out as a "his word against your word" Don't get drawn into it because you have no proof that he is wrong, just as he has no proof that he is right.

It makes me sick reading these abusive posts, people jumping in posting little jokes, snide comments, etc. Let's all try and be a little more productive on these forums, bring the evidence, bring the polite opinion, bring the personal experience, but leave the attitude and attacks at the door.

By making 'time-shifting' thread which claim that New Zealand is to the west of Australia you are inadvertently calling us, sane people, stupid. So this makes it even and shows that no, not everyone sucks at geography on ATS.

All it showed me was how retarded, ignorant and uneducated a massive portion of the population is. I mean we are talking about adults who have lived their entire lives on the same planet. And an area of the world that is hard to be confused about ( unlike central Europe etc... where counties are all squashed up )

We are only talking about 2 countries and their relative positioning to one another over a vast Ocean.

It has also brought back into perspective for me how some conspiracy's keep rolling on and on, and how rare critical thinking really is.

Actually, all the antipodes are constantly shifting, and these locations are changing all the time underwater. So sometimes NZ will be east of OZ and sometimes west. It just depends on if you are in an antipode shift or not:

I'd hazard a guess that there are quite a few Australians who don't have a clue what lies across the pond.

Of course! There is no way i could name all the states of USA without looking at a map for instance.. but then, i wouldn't claim they changed position just because i couldn't remember them either

Tonga, is the first nation to see the sun, not Samoa. Samoa lies on the other side of the Dateline which puts them a day behind Tonga, NZ and Australia etc...

As for people thinking that NZ is west of OZ, I can see how the confusion happens.

Edit:- an interesting sidenote for the currently serving and retired Marines on here, there was a large battle fought in Kiribati by the US Marine Corp during WW2 - The Battle Of Tarawa. I was there a few years back, and the Japanese Gun Emplacements are still standing there as of today.

Just so you understand something, not all Americans are that nieve as to believe we are SUPREME above all the others. That's just what you get on TV and mass media. It's like your comment about the 'roos, that's ALL we see in the media, so of course, the un/undereducated people of this country, which is a regretably large percent, are going to think that.

What I want to ask you is why do you feel Americans, just because we are, are arogant?

As per the topic, people use to believe that the world was flat and to venture far into the pacific would mean you'd fall off the planet. These same people ruled the known world, but yet were never in full control. So, by rights of the op's statement, these people would be idiots because they didn't know something.

A lot of people will make up answers to questions they don't know because they don't like admitting they don't know it. It's a fallacy of the human race. No one likes to show weakness, so they fudge some explaination, then must argue the subject even when they know they are wrong.

I'm not saying they are wrong, but what are the odds someone has really experienced a time shift? No high, I'm sure. But that's a question, to which, I don't have the answer to.

Well just last week, teenage heart throb Justin Beiber appeared on a New Zealand television show and when asked about the country Germany, he didn't even have a clue what Germany was. Someone needs to check if this idiot has a Paris Hilton gene. So much for education.

Apparently all you need to do in life to be famous and rich is to lip-sync other peoples songs and be a brain dead, effeminate/androgynous twat... and the sad part is that much of our youth adore him for it and aspire to be just like him.

I didn't read the replies and I don't have to - but I find this thread quite insulting. Just because an obviously HUGE group of people doesn't understand what and "alternate reality" is - allow me to define it for you.

alternate - adj - constituting an alternative

alternative - n - one of the things, propositions, or courses of action that can be chosen

Now for reality, allow me to list the multiple definitions with the ones you need to be looking for in bold.

1. the state or quality of being real.
2. resemblance to what is real.
3. a real thing or fact.
4. real things, facts, or events taken as a whole; state of affairs: the reality of the business world; vacationing to escape reality.
5. Philosophy.
a. something that exists independently of ideas concerning it.
b. something that exists independently of all other things and from which all other things derive.
6. something that is real.
7. something that constitutes a real or actual thing, as distinguished from something that is merely apparent.



Now the simple explanation that so many of you don't understand is because you are ignorant and refuse to accept the definition and/or even the POSSIBILITY of an alternate reality - meaning a reality in which was different from this one, in which things could have been either slightly different or magnanimously different.

As noted by the definition above of reality, only those with philosophical understanding of situations will ever be able to cope or understand where we are coming from. When you take a situation literally you eliminate the possibility for philosophy or change to take place. This is simply IGNORANCE.




Allow me to summarize - ONCE AGAIN for all of you people who feel you understand the situation.

1. NO ONE, and I repeat NO ONE is claiming that your locations of Australia or New Zealand are wrong. If you have taken this from the discussion then you are wrong in the point we are trying to make.

2. There is no evidence, and there will NEVER BE EVIDENCE to support our claims. This is because NO ONE is claiming that in the past Australia and New Zealand were in different places. There will be no maps showing this because when you understand the concept of alternate reality - you understand that in this reality Australia and New Zealand is, are, and always have been at their current locations.

3. Saying that this even is based on bad geography experience with first of all A. the sheer number of supporters of the claim and B. The fact that it has affected people quite literally ALL OVER THE WORLD is a statistical improbability my any scale whatsoever. In fact, the only way that so many people would be confined to the same "WRONG" knowledge would be to have learned from the same source or same materials. As there has been no materials come forth and no links made between those who experienced this - your statistical impossibility holds no grounds.




What bothers me most about the entire scenario, is how adamant people are to possibility. Here we are on ATS, a cannonade of supposed open mindedness, and all of a sudden a phenomenon comes along one day that can not be explained away - and we have members resorting to improbable and unprovable EXCUSES instead of paving way for a probability that something MIGHT have happened. Not only that, but for some reason they take offense to it.

I can't even fathom how some people can be so naive. When it comes to the study of time and alternate dimensions, we are talking about territory that humans have literally barely tread foot upon; uncharted territory that cannot yet be explained and should not yet be dismissed. Yet here we are, supposedly intelligent people dismissing things based on their own self preservation; for fear of the unknown and for fear of being wrong yourselves.





All people want to do is discuss this possibility on these forums, and continuously we get comments like this thread - treating people like they have low IQs and that somehow, some way - you are all superior to these "idiots who are bad at geography". It makes me sick to even see this topic on here and it makes me sick to see how similar to the old Orwellian thought process it really is.

Instead of exploring the scenarios, you people would much rather destroy and indoctrinate the information you know and learned to replace ours. You would much rather have us forget and not find out the answers, then to allow us the platform to question and find out exactly what the problem was.





Seriously, allow me to say it now - anyone who is adamantly believing of this topic, or who is unable to see the side of the people affected by this recent "phenomenon" for lack of a better word, then you have no right to say that you have an open mind, and you have no right to say that you are searching for truth or knowledge. You work to suppress the truth, plain as day.
