Grouped together in the afterlife with the religious (who really are the WORST Hippocrates alive) would ABSOLUTELY be the worst hell possible for the sane among us.

Pondering such a dreadful event, I can imagine a group of religious people being grouped in the afterlife on a cliff of which each was slipping off and falling into the hellish pit. Instead of saving each of their fellow members around them, each of them selfishly clasped their hands in prayer to beg for their own escape. They could have actually used their hands for a REAL PURPOSE and REACHED out to offer assistance to their fellow members whom were falling. Instead they ALL, EVERYONE OF THEM eventually fall while praying for their own welfare. Sounds just like what one can expect from the hypocrites. I am glad to be disassociated from them.

well... in my opinion it goes like this... villains are always way cooler. Lets see...

Batman is cool on his dark side... but the joker is god.
Superman is a nerd... but lex luthor is way more charismatic and enjoyable
Spider man is a stupid kid... but spider man on the black suit is damn cool, and ofcourse not talking about Venom whos AWSOME.

Even heros get better on their darker side... lets see, batman, the punisher, ghost rider etc..

And lets see... who doesnt want to be a Vampire? Who doesnt LOVE the devil in "the devil's advocate"?

Speaking of vampires... in general when the 2 are in the mix (underworld for instance), werewolves and vampires, vampires are usually the "evil side" and werewolves the "cursed but good side"... now... werewolves are idiots compared to the coolness of a vampire and their absolute arrogance fed by the power they have. Now even between vampires... lets take a look at anne rice's the vampire chronicles... lestat is awsome (the evil side) louis and others and the "good vampires" which are... basically idiots.

We have to admit... evil is way cooler.

Evil ensures that you enjoy life and take everything that is given to you as a right... you should not imprison yourself... now Good... is always full of crappy rules and abdications that dont make any sense.

Plus God... well... if he exists then... well its like the movie says, hes an absent landlord. He just doesnt do his job right... in ANY corporation in the world he would have been fired already... tho the devil, well he does a pretty damn good job and deserves a promotion.

For me... well I'm always on the winning side.

Like the movie says... You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I dont have much of a choice here huh?

I don't know if anyone has asked this question of the OP yet, but exactly which God are you referring to as being "not cool"

I'm not a Christian, Muslim or Jew, so I have a ton sitting up there playing cards and swilling down the brews looking over my shoulder, I'd really love to know which one I'm supposed to watch out for the wrath of..

(/Sarcasm)

Now on to the serious part of my post, I am not a Christian, Muslim or Jew, and I see every day how there are atrocities committed in the name of God/Allah/Yahweh and nothing ever gets done about it, so even in his twisted and warped way the OP is correct, how could God (or derivatives thereof) be such a wonderful being if he/she continues to allow this sort of suffering and killing in his/her name. Seems to me that's one sadistic deity.

Well if it seems so cool go worship satan then...

Im sure your life on earth wil be nothing less that a super high drug induced orgy...

But then their is the afterlife... if you believe..

Im always amused at those who think they know more than the creator, wheather it be god, budda or aliens....

Temp that with your small human brain as if it can somehow comprehend the universe and all of its glory... yes you small human, you seem to have it all figured out!!!

lol lol lol lol

How are we ever suppose to figure it out when we only give ourself 2 choices, creation or evolution....... how about both working together.... how about neither?

2 choices in everything and we live in the 3rd dimension?
Maybe we will allow for 3 choices in the 4th??

Fair enough WickettheRabbit. You might be right. Though I don't subscribe to anyone's notion of religion or hell. In a "classical" sense or otherwise. I find their notions a lttle absurd. Just IMO.

The point is that the Christian version of God seems a little quick to mete out his ultimate punishment. As far as I understand, from Christians, it is necessary to believe. Those who don't will get the down elevator when the time comes. So Gandhi gets the down elevator, while devoutly religious war mongers get a harp and wings? Satan seems to get it all over God in this deal.

If it exists, Hell might just be an extension of this existence for all we know. This could be the dress rehearsal. I can see where it might have a Church on overy corner, full of those who preach of heaven convinced belief gives them knowledge of such things. Perhaps also the new age religions will be there in force, still waiting for the rogue planet to hit, so the freindly aliens can help them to a new "density" and still trying to convince everone within earshot . While they and their world all slowly descend further into madness, chaos and hell. If you see humor in irony, that would have to cause laughter.

Though I'm not saying any of this is true.

Its the same reason as why anyone who believes in this stupidity called god comes across as a complete door nob and those who believe in Satan come across as interesting and far cooler.

BECAUSE in order for simple humans to be able to function daily they need some sort of fear to propel them into action and keep them "hopeful". Where-as the rest of us who don't believe in such tripe and the Satanists simply do not care.

Trust me...the quickest way to being free and appearing cool is to just NOT care.

However to many people are weak and must give meaning to pathetic lives. People along time ago created "god" to have some sort of control over the populace in order to create the so called civil society we see today.....oh yeah, IT DID NOT WORK. Look at the Muslims, they stone people to death, rape women and children, wear their bedsheets everywhere and live in caves....all these things in the name of "god". NO TO COOL in my opinion.

Same with the Jews, still complaining about persecution after all these years. No sympathy. catholics - priests kiddy fiddling, NOT COOL.

Im not a mathematician, well yes I am sort of but this all equals = JERK

Cause and effect, do you forget the reasons why God did what he did? The entire land was abominable and rejected Him and His will, but rather worshipped pagan idols and the stars - worshipping the created rather than the Creator.

God had absolutely NO reason to flood the entire Earth. We're talking about an all knowing infinitely wise and powerful deity, not some bumbling moron. I think a real God could have come up with a better plan than brutally murdering everyone and all the animals and most vegetation in a terrible catastrophe. Also, why is God being intolerant? Are you advocating the genocide of everyone who doesn't worship the same God as you? I also assume these wicked people had something called CHILDREN, innocent children that God decided to drown to death. So God floods the Earth because mankind is irredeemable but then later appoints Jesus so he can redeem everyone... but wait if mankind is irredeemable it means God doesn't have the power to redeem them and that means God is not all powerful.

Enjoy your paradoxical brain exploding nonsense

If God is all powerful than has the power to snap his fingers and redeem every single human being, meaning there would be no reason to kill the firstborn, to flood the Earth, to let his one and only son be brutally murdered, to torture mankind in Revelation or to damn anyone to hell.

By the way there's a version of the Flood older than Noah's version, its in the Epic of Gilgamesh, in that version the gods flood the Earth because humans are too noisy and they can't get a moments peace. At least that reason makes sense.

Edit to Add that I find the separation of Creator and created to be an arbitrary separation. If there is a Creator of everything than everything is a part of that Creator therefore one can worship the created thing and be, unknown to oneself, praising a creator. Also, God is not apparently evident. Even in our modern age we have not detected any proof there is a Creator so punishing primitive man for disobeying a God who did not show himself or set up any covenant with these people makes no sense.

This is a quote from a very mad movie I saw recently, called Sileni, where the insane take over the asylum... I found it fitting for such a thread..

But God is merely a figment of human fears and hopes. People have always been unhappy. They've always been afraid. They look for the cause of their suffering and hope it will end.

So they dream up a mythical God hoping he will grant their wishes.

God is no more than a fantasy; born of our fear and weakness.

But religion teaches us...

What does Christian dogma tell us about this mighty God of yours?

What does your religion have to say about him?

All I see is a fickle and barbaric being, who creates the world one day, only to regret it the next, a feeble creature incapable of making people do what he wants!

But if God made us perfect, why strive to be worthy of salvation?

What banality! Why should people be worthy of their God? Making us incapable of evil, that would be an act worthy of God! But give a man freedom of choice and you give him temptation.

God in his infinite wisdom must have known where that would lead.

He leads his own creatures astray simply to amuse himself.

What a terrible God! What a monstrous God!

A mischievous God who deserves only our hatred and vengeance!

I think that when God commanded Abraham to kill his only son in his name, that was kind of a jerk move. And, to make matters worse, just as Abraham was about to fell the poor boy, God stepped in and was all like "Just kidding! Lols." The whole episode, no doubt, leaving the child with life-long mental anguish.

Its like the cruelest episode of Punk'd ever.

This is a great thread, and it's interesting to see all the different ideas about this GOD/SATAN conflict. Here's my different perspective to add to the mix.

If 'SATAN' exists as an identity, I think his greatest achievement would be the construction of dogmatic religion. I can't think of any other human structure that has caused so much division, bloodshed, victimization, guilt, ignorance, confusion amongst humanity than this type of religion.

Just to clarify, I'm not dismissing the origination of the divine ideas and Great Teachers who inspired the religions, just the ways and methods that humanity has corrupted them in forming guilt-inducing and indoctrinating schools of thought.

Here's how I view things:
GOD in the ultimate sense is the totality of everything that is seen and unseen in the universe, and the source that governs the laws and properties of all energies in the universe. Therefore we are all unified and an integral part of this GOD.

The problem is that we are all at different levels of awareness of this reality. 'SATAN' or the forces of materialism as I prefer to name it, try to maintain this ignorance of our true identity as 'gods' manifest in matter.

And because we are essentially 'gods' or souls incarnate in a dense physical form we find ourselves in constant conflict with our higher and lower natures. Sometimes we will express our lower nature in the form of jealousy, greed, criticism, hatred and fear, but at other times we express our soul nature such as inclusiveness, tolerance, empathy, love, compassion and service to others.

Could it be that the teachings of the world religions are really meant as a reflection or a symbolic way of teaching us about this inner duality, and to resolve the conflict within ourselves so that we can eventually become more soul infused or Christ-like or Krishna-like, or Buddha-like or Mohammed-like?

I think you misunderstood my point.

My point was that G-d gives us the freewill to make good or bad choices. Thats why there is so much human evil. There is also great good as well.

If G-d directly intervened all the time in our lives, we would have no free will.

I was asking would you prefer that kind of intervention? Do you want to be a drone?

I am a father to my kids. They don't always like me, but they respect me. And they're turning out just fine.

Don't always have to agree with God, but do respect Him, or He can make your life hell.

NO it cant, see that's what keeps people stuck in the past..

Might aswelll sacrifice a virgin to the sun in a volcano and eat their heart for strength...

god makes your life hell if you don't respect it...

That's kind of how I see it. It's a trick. If you follow the ways of Satan, it will seem fun at first but soon you will have an STD, backstab your friends and be in prison - all the while blaming the girl, your friends and the police. Things only get worse from there, as none of your friends in prison trust you, you don't trust them, even Satan turns on you once you don't have anything to offer him anymore and he's taken it all from you.

Man, people really do believe this don't they.

Everyone who is not an xtian has an std. Check.
Everyone who is not an xtian backstabs their friends. Check.
Everyone who is not an xtian is in prison. Check.

Boy you xtians have the world at your feet, whats with all the complaining?

Because I am cool! I dress sharp, I am always friendly and upbeat. I take the time to say high and listen.

I don't judge you! I accept you as you are!

We all have our faults right? Right?

I do all the things a good girl, looking for a bad boy, with a good heart should do!

Tell great jokes, do dangerous things, live life to the fullest, tip well, and remember your birthday!

I don't make it hard to get into hell, no hard tests, no cover charge, and no boring harp music, Rock and Roll all the way! In fact, I have all your favorite stars booked for ever!

No sin taxes here, I recognize enjoying sin is taxing enough all by itself. All night parties sure can drain a person!

No long boring, tedious books to read. Plus it's always warm, I mean everyone loves a tropical vacation.

Build it and they will come, and they do!

Let's face it, I am cool!

Yours truly,

Lucifer!

Satan can look really cool while he is "campaigning"! Wait until the reality kicks in and the price needs to be paid.

I like what Proto said in the last post!

That's a good definition of the "wide path" versus the narrow one God requires, which is faith in His Son,Jesus Christ, and repentence that leads to salvation through grace. He offers it freely to all who ask.

But he doesn't have the best Rock Bands and Musicians under exclusive contract like I do!

Sure maybe you pay a little more for that kind of quality in the long run, but you get what you pay for.

Look, I know it's not fair, but I also offer free Cable TV for the first 500 years, and then just 29.95 a month after that!

Free Cable man!

He sent his son to give us freedom, in that the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the holy spirit - being rejecting that gift of His sacrifice so that there is no other option but for one to goto hell with their sin.

For no apparent reason? The reasons is because the sin of humanity as a whole reached far up into the heavens, and unfortunately the world is heading that way as the new thing is to not only condone sin, but to turn ones' head to it and accept it as 'good' or 'okay'.

DING DING DING DING!!!!

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!

As to the question posed in the OP, thank you for tha answer. Let me see if I can put it in more accesable language for you.

Your god lacks either the care, skill, or both to be a good craftsman. The result of his low level workmanship was a series of faulty products. When his own faulty products failed to live up to impossible expectations, he punished THEM. He punished his faulty creations again and again. He continues to punish his faulty creations all the time and apparently will until such time as he decides he is tired of the whole thing.

Meanwhile, your Satan is just another average joe, trying to make his way in a crazy world he did not create, ask for, or apparently want.
