What makes them narrow-minded, other than the fact they disagree with you?

OP:

I too used to feel so passionately about the subject that it made me verbally aggressive, after a while I got so 'into' it that I became jaded, didn't think it was ever going to happen and that all the time chasing and beliving was for nothing, but one day the pieces clicked- even if its not widely belived, even if we don't see what we want to see you have to have hope. Most belivers have seen or read of evidence that has them hooked in the first place, so you have hold on to that, because for whatever reason the time is not right at the moment. If we are right we will be proven so eventually, but patience is a virtue, and one that will hopefully pay off within our life times.

I hope that helps, keep up your conversations, keep it reasonable, and just think how good it'll feel one day when you are proven right

Regards

I think there is a strong element of fear in those who say they do not believe! I would also say that society has done a pretty good job of making people accept it as fantasy, such as 'little green men from mars' ET, and so on.

The fact that we make it out to be humorous and child-like, makes adults feel like it is unacceptable to believe in such things.

And as previously mentioned, surely an understanding of the possible size of the universe is enough to make you think that there could be something else out there?

100,000,000,000,000+ stars in the Milky Way

100,000,000,000,000+ galaxies in the Universe

100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000+ stars in the Universe

and to think there is only one 'Earth' around 1 star?

Hmmmm!!!

are you refering to drakes equation?
i said before and ill say again that "the universe is a pretty big place if its just us then thats an awful waste of space"
but apparently to some people thats faulty logic because of the marble in the box theory you keep making the box bigger but you still have one marble....but whos to say you started out with one marble? a marble isnt a very good metaphor either because a planet unlike a marble may have life on it and unlike a marble life might build space travel tech and colonize other planets, making more marbles or something thats one way to debunk the marble box theory

and i agree just because E.T. was silly doesnt mean it couldnt become true
im usually skeptical about everything ever but life on other planets is a definate belief for me

Lauren, I think the best piece of advice is don't be so certain.

It is very enticing to believe that you are part of an elite, that you are privilege to certain knowledges no one else is, that you have somehow risen above the blind, ignorant and narrow-minded masses. Reading some of the comments here, that attitude seems prevalent among many members.

But just as you are convinced that you know the Absolute Truth so is the person you are arguing with. And just as you believe that person to be blind, ignorant and narrow-minded, they may be thinking the same thing of you.

When you approach a conversation certain you hold a monopoly on the truth, when you use pejoratives such as ignorant or narrow-minded, hear/read things that are not being said, or trying to portray the other person as a caricature, you are not having a conversation. You are not listening. You are rehearsing your prejudices. You are proselytizing.

Unless we invite it, we humans do not like being preached at. And being a reactionary lot, chances are we will not respond positively. Especially when we are approached with arrogance. When you demand someone accept the extraordinary on the faith of your word, it is the utmost arrogance. Often, people are willing to listen if they are not met with aggression and arrogance. Those you call narrow-minded may merely be reacting to your attitude.

In such situations as described above, you may want to ask yourself who is actually being narrow-minded. Considering the nature of the subject, you may want to ask yourself what you really know. We are all blind men groping the elephant. Do not be so certain the part you are touching defines the entire creature.

i agree with u 100% because we are creatures that go by what we experience...but to say there is no proof of aliens intervening with humans is just wrong. i see more and more proof everyday but what is most convincing is ancient civilizations...no one has all the answers and to think we are the only ones is little arrogant with all this space because whoever the creator is, he would be making such a terrible waste...i could see if we there only solar system but were just a ant hill in a galaxy.
since we are beings that perceive from are own experience and quantum time i think we have to join together to find the answers and stop thinking everyones a conspiracy crackpot and a hoaxer.
there will always be rhetoric to say he/she is doing it for there own benefit but i dont know anyone who likes to look like a freakshow to the masses and to be ridiculed. infact if you look at all the novelties there is always atleast 1 person to ridicule a new way of thinking.
btw...i heard no one saying they were god sent...it just seem people who have these ufo experiences tend to look at life the same way...some even learn to acknowledge evil as a tool for learning because without evil there would be no lesson. in no way do i condone evil but were in a world of dualities for a reason, i dont know why but what i do know is that when we are at the lowest low we always learn from it and rise to the occasion!
another thing some ufo experiencers get is a feeling of the want for change...
this is why we get frustrated because we are stuck in a system of complacency and false freedom and watching cousins and family members run against eachother while the masses have no clue we have a republican monarchy! were to stuck in are on little worlds like zombies with, tv, games, sports and 9 to 5's...im not waiting on the aliens to come be our saviors we have the ability to do it by ourselves, we dont need people to look to like the government or aliens to do it for us. we just want people to perceive things like we do so the next generation will be better off than we are and right now it doesnt look like there will be a next generation because we are a cancer to the earth...and i think shes startin chemo therapy right now so change is imminent! im not preaching you can believe what you want to but one thing i do know is that we cant keep looking up to the government to decide how we live and whats good for us. i dont mean violence but i do mean uniting and and using different methods to take back control for ourselves such as boycotting, growing our on food, returning to nature and we can do it because we are strong, we have heart and we will rise when it all falls apart!

yeah he was making analogies that just dont have the same concepts...ive never once seen a marble create life! rhetoric is not the way to approach this especially with concepts that are way more complex such as life.

I always try to put things into perspective for people. I explain to them that I'm not saying I believe we are being visited by alien ships, I'm just saying it's not impossible.

I often use this example: Let's say you woke up in your bedroom one day and had lost your memory. You are alone in your house and you don't know if there is anyone else around. So you walk to your front door, open it, take a single step out and you look around. You do not see any other people outside.

From this could you assume that no one else exists? Even if there are no signs of houses anywhere in sight. You can only see an extremely tiny area in relation to the entire planet.

With our current technology and telescopic equipment, as advanced as it has gotten, we are simple standing on our doorstep, peering around our immediate area.

Once you begin to understand just how big space is, how far away things are, how many stars are in a galaxy, how many galaxies out there.... it's almost idiotic to disagree that other life exists out there.

I believe the universe is extremely full of life and considering how old the universe is said to be I strongly believe there are civilizations who have mastered space travel. Think about how young the human race is. We haven't even been here a blink of an eye in relation to the rest of the universe. If in our young age we are able to say, "This is possible, we just don't have the ability to produce the technology to make it happen." Wouldn't it make sense that somewhere out there are beings who have been around much longer that HAVE gotten to that point.

....and that's basically the argument I use. Instead of trying to provide proof (which does not exist), I try to remove their doubt in the possibility of the idea.

If after all of that a person still wants to say it's not possible.... I start pointing out things they use/see in their daily lives that people once thought were impossible. If you go back 100 years and explained to someone that you could carry a communication device capable of connecting you to a world-wide database of information in real-time with no wires, they would laugh in your face. What about if you told them one day you could travel from one side of the country to the other in a matter of hours. Or to the complete opposite side of the planet in about half a day. What about traveling to the moon in a few days? Or if you went back 100 years and told them you would be able to send an unmanned craft to the outer edge of the entire solar system and transmit back photos and detailed readings.... and that's just 100 years. Imagine a civilization millions of years older than us.

Imagine the lessons they could have learned and the technical and physical obstacles they could have overcome.

To consider all of this and still believe it's all a bunch of science fiction crap.... is just plain pathetic and primitive.

Honestly, I'm at a point in my life where I believe so strongly in aliens and UFOs that I literally want to smack people who say it's "impossible." My best friend spent half an hour explaining to me how dumb it is that I would believe such a thing.

I want to know how you guys deal with people who call you crazy or just won't "get" what you're trying to say?

Simple solution is.........

Give them the "Disclosure Project DVD' all three, then "Out of the Blue", then Jim Marrs presentations, problem solved.

This has happened to me several times where people say they don't believe in ET' and UFO'.

BUT, after watching the DVD', OMG is there a change of opinion.

Their main statment is that they had no idea how BIG the cover up was.

See my signature below.....nuff said.

Your best bet is to arm yourself with some solid information. The more evidence you can present, the easier it is to close your case. I've spent years putting together the most credible, tangible package of evidence that I believe once viewed...is impossible to deny. There's always going to be those close minded sheeple that will never accept this reality for what it is, my suggestion is don't waste your breath

Haha! I will totally tell her you said "Yo, what's up, homie?!"

Lol. Yeah, as if I didn't intimidate her enough as it is, I need to just grab a lamp and frighten the poor thing, lol! Maybe blackmail her if I don't get answers, lol.

When i'm in the mood of making conversation i patiently explain why it is possible.
If i see that they want to listen to an explanation i continue(i usually win this kind of debates:cool

If they are the kind that only say it,because they MUST say something and they don't won't to listen to my opinion i play crazy and i tell them things like:

"And how do you know that you are not an alien with a memory loss?"
or
"Right now in a planet far away there are two aliens debating whether there is life on Earth or not,and the the one says "there are no such thing as humans"
or
I give them the Vulcan "live long and prosper" sign.
People that have made up their minds on the matter no matter how serious you are they will call you crazy,so why not enjoy it

I say what I say and if I get called a wacko then I either laugh and walk away or shrug.
Either way I do not entertain any notion of making someone believe me and if they decide that I am on the level then that is a good thing. If they decide I am just a loon then that is OK too because what is important to me is that I know the visitation phenomenon is real and I know that what matters is that important people in my life (who once thought I was a loon) have now seen proof with their own eyes and they now believe me. That is like gold to me!

Everyone else can take a hike as far as I am concerned, they can believe exactly what they like because they really do not matter in the big picture.

How do i deal? well i have had some strange experiences, hearing morse code high pitch buzzing noises, strange marks on my body, told people about it and they all looked at me like i was crazy, well i know what i know and know how it felt,so if people choose to believe me are not that is their choice, but when it comes time i will not be one of the ones in fear and panic when they revel themselves to the rest of the world
