Slightly yes, charts are a little wobbly. Watching to see if they continue to rise. There has been a very gently rise all week. Will come back in 30 minutes. Mark at the moment is 6.

Sorry
Had to double check she was ok as there was another small quake. Half the charts are missing at the moment. About 5.5. What sismic charts there are look a little bumpy so will continue to watch tomorrow.

Good morning

Well my charts are well and truly broken

So all I can tell you at the moment is she has a hotspot over the Southeast Crater that is bigger than yesterday and there were 3 to 4 small earthquakes during the night. All I can do is watch the pictures.

Hi Hi - Just came in to say I'm keeping an eye on Her today too. She's putting out a lot of steam but at the same time acting too quiet. Strange days these.

Eyes open and camera ready...

Have a great Sunday - and I'd be interested in hearing about your charts more later!

peace

Thank you Sil your Moon pics are fabulous! I just love them!

Etna this morning was putting out a great deal of steam - beautiful - andddd makes me want to keep a closer eye on her today. She's been quiet this week - just puffing away and melting snow - but coming into Spring we all know She'll wake soon...

Between now and then...

When did this happen? Believe me I'm NOT doubting you - I'm just stunned! I was outside all day yesterday and my eye was on her constantly and I saw nothing!

OR

Is the time stamp off? I ask that because I came inside to check if she's doing something now (Sunday morning 4th of March 11.23) - She's overcast but there seems to be more going on than just clouds.

THANK YOU so much!

She started about 6am. Cloud over her so you couldn't see that much. Snow is gone though. I don't think there was much lava overflow. One of those where I get the warnings and within hours she has gone up.

The 21st paroxysmal eruption of Etna's New SE crater started very early on 4th March. The whole week showed intermittent strombolian activity and this was accompanied by a steep rise of volcanic tremor. Lava fountains several 100 m tall were rising from the summit crater during the peak phase of the eruption, generating a 2-3 km tall tephra and steam plume, which rose almost vertically due to the absence of strong winds.
A lava flow was erupted from the SE trending fissure and went towards and partly into the Valle del Bove.
Episodes of violent, explosive lava-snow interaction were observed producing large billowing steam plumes and probably generating small pyroclastic flows, similar to such events during previous paroxysms.

Well just popped in again to report that there is still Strombolian activity within the crater. Even though this eruption is at an end she still needs watching over the next week or two. She seems to have the spring hicups.

Good afternoon.
This just in from Boris.
When doing a GPS survey on the huge cone of the New Southeast Crater on 16 March 2012, we heard frequent sounds of high-pressure gas emission coming from within the crater. These were not accompanied by any visible phenomena, like increased gas emission or else. On the morning of 17 March, however, there were numerous small puffs of vapor and, occasionally, minor quantities of ash rising from the crater; visible emissions diminished during the forenoon but did not cease.
