Glenn Beck Urges Listeners to Leave Churches That Preach Social Justice

www.politicsdaily.com

On his daily radio and television shows last week, Fox News personality Glenn Beck set out to convince his audience that "social justice," the term many Christian churches use to describe their efforts to address poverty and human rights, is a "code word" for communism and Nazism. Beck urged Christians to discuss the term with their priests and to leave their churches if leaders would not reconsider their emphasis on social justice.

"I'm begging you, your right to religion and freedom to exercise religion and read all of the passages of the Bible as you want to read them and as your church wants to preach them . . . are going to come under the ropes in the next year. If it lasts that long it will be the next year. I beg you, look for the words 'social justice' or 'economic justice' on your church Web site. If you find it, run as fast as you can. Social justice and economic justice, they are code words. Now, am I advising people to leave their church? Yes!"

Later, Beck held up cards, one with a hammer and sickle and other with a swastika. "Communists are on the left, and the Nazis are on the right. That's what people say. But they both subscribe to one philosophy, and they flew one banner. . . . But on each banner, read the words, here in America: 'social justice.' They talked about economic justice, rights of the workers, redistribution of wealth, and surprisingly, democracy."

beck is an idiot and has no sense of history...and the people who listen to him aren't any better.

Putting aside the fallacious claim that Communism and the Nazis

flew under one banner
and taking on the whole church and social justice thing...

Has the damned fool ever read the teachings of Jesus?

As I mention on another thread the abolition of slavery...public education...penal reform and women's sufferage not to mention prohibition all came out of the church and the 19th century Christian ideal of the

shining city on the hill
and the goal of bettering society.

And long before that...back to the earliest days of the Church they cared for the poor...fed the starving and nurtured the ill...the widows and children.

I think the one banner was 'socialism', and state control of the masses for a political goal based on worldly domination and becks grasp of history is quite correct. Christian doctrin has no emphasis about politics or forcing others to act in a political way, it's about preparing for a new spiritual life, and is voluntary to chose or avoid as one wishes. There is no political social justice, just social agendas. Social justice is an individual choice. A church chosing to behave to promote their vision of justice through personal behavior is one thing, but a church serving to force though gov't action is something else, one cannot expect godliness to occur when joining forces with the devil that is politics

Social justice has become a euphemism for income redistribution via national policies.

Thats why the leftist morons support it and like to throw that word about.

I think Reverend Jeremiah Wright may have had a point. He said "god damn America". I don't believe in damning the general public because americans are typically well meaning people, a little selfish, but overall well meaning. I think it is the corporate crooks like Beck that is trying to not only destroy America but to destroy Christianity too, if god intends to damn any people they will be the ones.

Do you have any sense of history??

There are photos of hitler and Nazi party memeber's shaking hands and bowing to Vatican official's and the pope. Once the national social party fell alot of it's member fled to the catholic church. Notice how pope ratzinger has Nazi ties. It that a coincidence?? I don't think so.

www.nobeliefs.com...

I personally watch beck every night. I think that he brings the whole story to the table along with video and commentary to back up his arguments. Alot of the subjects he talks about. The MSM wouldn't touch on. I ask myself why?? And then they label him a crazy. Some arguements he make on oth of his show radio and television I read the same stuff on this website. I don't get how people on this forum attack him but then they read and reply to same arguments on the site

I totally disagree.

If what you say is true then it would be true for the funnymentalists who try and force their agenda down everyone else's throats as well...it is a social agenda and it is a cultural agenda and it is a political agenda.

When you say the church has no social agenda you ignore whole swatches of history...Catholic and Protestant.

@ brainwrek with comments like that you are indeed showing that you are a brain wreck.

It really adds to the tenor of the debate.

What is Glenn Beck smoking now?

I'm an atheist and even I know that in it's purest form Christianity is about social justice.

I most certainly do have a sense of history and I understand that the Nazi's and socialism despite having it in their name were polar opposites. If anything like the Italian fascists the Nazi's were hyper capitalists and far to the right of anything actually socialist.

Any human organization has an agenda. By the church, I'm referring to nt biblical teachings, not human perversions. Humanity isnt gonna ever get perfect, so the pursuit of perfection is doomed to failure at the outset. The beswt thing that can be proposed is a clear set of rules that apply to all, and that the rewards and punishments such as occur are obvious and defineable. Social justice means nothing, or anything depending on who you ask, and is essentially undefineable becasue is's subjective, like jobs saved or created, jumbo shrimp, etc

I don't get it. THIS guy is many peoples political guru? Are you serious?

Sure, that was 24 years ago. If he would go to those lengths to promote some lame morning show then what do you think he would do now for ratings?

Ratings. That's what it's all about. The wackier he is the more people seem to tune in.

Truthfully, I read the OP and was a little confused. Social justice and churches? HUH? What is he on? Seems like he is picking a fight for no reason other than to fight with someone. I don't pay attention to the guy. I just wish others would do the same as all I have ever heard out of his mouth is nonsense. But one man's nonsense is another man's sense, so whatever.

WARNING: Glenn Beck is a mormon. Mormons have some serious info about the inner workings of strongholds on the planet. They aren't just a religion. They are a masonic-based religion with powerful ties all over the planet. If I were you, as time advances, I'd listen very carefully to what he's saying and weigh it in your heart, pray about it, and don't rush to any politically charged decisions either way. Something's afoot and if anyone knows about it, you can bet the esoteric, powerful orgs, like mormonism, will. Their interpretation on what you should do about it, is, of course, based on their world view and their understanding of Godly government. But its the bits of information inbetween you should pay close attention to.

Yeah...that one thread I made may have been called a hoax because of where it came from, but if isn't damn accurate then I do not know what is.

I'm keeping my eye out everyday for these loons.

Once Christianity is hijacked, I am pretty sure that things will head south quickly.

Jesus taught extensively about compassion and empathy and helping the poor (as did the later Old Testament prophets) and urged his followers to sell what they had and give their money to the poor. Matthew 19 16/26 among others and then there is the golden rule..."Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

He said nothing about a prosperity Gospel as in follow me and I will make you rich nor did he say that in order to be a Christian that you had to be a right wing funnymentalist with a solid Republican voting record.

Good. I agree that is how it should be. A star for you.

I am 54 and I grew up in the Shenandoah valley of Virginia...about as conservative as you could get...if someone was in need the church helped them. No ideology other than it was the Christian thing to do was involved.

When Hurricane Camille passed through the churches of the area were in the forefront of helping their neighbors...liberal or conservative...Christian or Jew...Protestant or Catholic.

Pastors did not tell you what to think or how to vote...

(when will people get it through their pointy little heads that when a pastor does that he is not teaching the Gospels...he is teaching his opinions?)

...no matter how small and how country the church.

Those who were wealthy did not flaunt it or at least they didn't flaunt it in church...perhaps because no one was especially richer than anyone else but still.

The point is I do not recognize American protestant Christianity today.

I honestly think that a lot of so-called Christians are no better than the students in Madrassa's who are taught the Quran in Arabic but have no idea what it means besides what their Mulla tells them it does.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when Glenn Beck kept saying that South Africa was a continent that was west off the coast of Africa? He's a mormon alright, if you take out the final "m".
